Thanks for this. I randomly came across you channel trying to learn about kayak fishing and I am learning a lot from your lecture style. Very different from the other channels in the absolute best way. Thank you very much.
Thank you for the kind words.
that is a typical day in leffingwell. good to see ya'll had a blast
Thanks.
Thats one of the best kayak trips ive been on so far, thanks for inviting and ill be looking foward to the next one.
An epic day, even fro the Central Coast.
Amazing , you guys left my mouth Watering, huge tasty 😋 looking Fish . Great Video 🙏
Thanks.
That was awesome, I wish I was able to make that trip. Glad to see everyone killed it.
Let's do one more. We've been extraordinarily lucky with conditions this year.
Wow, great outing! I need to join you next time!
we'll probably try one more trip this year.
Looked like a blast! Wish I could have been there. Awesome video as always
let's try and get back out there one more time this summer, Shane.
Great fishing trip. This year's NorCal ocean has been rougher than normal and I wasn't able to make as many fishing trips as usual. Hopefully, it gets better.
It's been a strange year. We've had two trips to the Central Coast this year, and both times, the conditions have been unusually good. We've had years where we've had to cancel all the trips because of bad oceanic conditions. Triple digit temperatures in the northwest this summer, while LA has been in the 80's so far. Such a strange year.
Very nice video. You got very nice condition to work with too. I was an hour away in Pismo Beach last week. I was tempted to swing by to say hello.
You should have!
That looked like a great trip! Thanks for always sharing your insight with everyone.
Thank you for the kind words.
Yep. I'd call that a good day OTW. Nicely done.
Thanks man!
Nice haul! Can’t wait to get out there
Thanks.
I was at jalama beach a few months back lucked out with the weather I was surfing some 6-foot faces little offshore Breeze calm water beautiful sunny.. the day we were leaving it was 20 mile an hour winds nasty cold
yup, that's exactly how the Central Coast can turn on you.
Looks epic! Wish I could have made it out for that one.
Looking forward to meeting you, BBees.
Wow you go way out there, I went out just a little maybe 1/2 mile I see the wave and think about shark I change my mind and turn around, to me kind scare fishing out there by myself
I know what you mean. There was a sign posted at the launch about a confirmed shark sighting, and we did see a juvenile 6' shark out there. Of course there are bigger ones :)
Liked the content as I'm a central coast kayak fisherman for about 15 years now primarily Big Sur & Monterey Bay. Would have appreciated the video even more if someone amongst the group would've had the sense of grabbing that plastic bag floating by at the 10:16 mark in this video. Go out there expecting to pick up something because we see it a lot if you fish out there. thx that's it. Peace
totally agree. believe it or not, we did circle back and pick up the plastic jellyfish. we do a lot of other stuff like backpacking and such, and make it a point to leave places better than how we found them.
Pretty small Reds to be taking...save some...
hi, it's generally my policy not to keep fish. i'm not really a foodie - i may keep a few Blue for the fry, but 95% of the fish that i catch go back into the sea.
Good to hear the bites are still good there. I am taking 10 kayakere there in two weeks. We have some more available camp spots. You or anyone else who wants to join please comment here.
hey, good to hear from you. that wknd looks like a backpacking trip for me - bummer. where are you guys staying - same campground?
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 yes. The same camp. I have spots for June 30 to August 1st. It was too much fun to do it once.
Wish i could have joined you on that trip. Well done out there.
Thanks Bravo.
Need to go up with you guys b-real giving a shout-out to the crew
Hope you're doing well, B-Reel.
Thanks for making these videos. Should I be worried about encountering with sharks or any other animals in the ocean while kayaking in Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes area?
well, there are no guarantees of course, but i'd say having an encounter with a big Great White Shark off of Redondo or PV are pretty slim. when i'm paddling the Central Coast, the hair in the back of my neck stands up - not so off of So Cal.
hey man, I love your videos I just got a kayak and have been needing some tips on where to go because I haven't caught anything, also was wondering if you would recommend any fish finders for me that are like 350 or under don't want to break the bank.
Hi, I'd recommend the Garmin Striker 5cv: amzn.to/3BmFnV1
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 hey man i was wondering if you have any tips as someone who is starting to become a fisherman because ive been spearfisherman for about 3 years now and got my kayak and fish finder and really enjoy it so far but i simply have no one to go with and just need some pointers, also i went over budget but i went with the striker vivid 7 sv its amazing
@@landinbingaman4662 hi, i'm a big believer in sharing, but i have to be honest with you - i get so many requests that it sometimes gets overwhelming. but pls feel free to reach out to me at voodoogenic at gmail. it may take some persistance on your part, but i will try to be as accommodating as possible. thanks.
@@landinbingaman4662 that's a nice fish finder - congrats.
Hi - was wondering if you can give me some specifics on the erratic fall jigs you use in the So Cal waters. Thanks
hi, if i had to choose just one jig, it would be the Shimano Coltsniper. about one ounce per every 30 feet, although i think they top out at around 4.5 ounces.
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 Right on! Thanks I'll check those out.
We tested Hobie Oasis Tandem kayak today and it was fast and fun! We are still thinking of buying a single or tandem. What do you think? Tandem or single?
hi, that's one of the toughest questions to answer. i struggled with it myself. if you have a partner that's really, really invested in the activity, then a tandem is the best thing in the world. 1+1 can often equal more than 2. the downside is, if the partnership doesn't work, then you're left with a vessel that's really not practical to paddle solo. i'd say that two single vessels is probably your best bet.
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 I understand. What would you buy if you wanted to buy a tandem kayak and what would you order if you wanted to buy a single kayak? For ocean and LA area(Redondo beach, PV).
@@QuickCookie hi - i'll make the assumption that you want to *fish* off your kayak(s). if that's the case, my tandem was the Oasis, and i'd go with that. for single kayaks, if you are not especially brand-loyal, i'd personally go with the Old Town Predator pedal kayak - the one that's around 13' long. if you are brand-loyal, i'd go with the Outback - imo, there is no better fishing platform in their lineup. if you are more into just pedaling around, i'd go with the Revolution 11'. i had that kayak and thought it was a pretty sweet little ride, and much easier to get on/off your car because of the weight savings. this is assuming that your sig other is not 6'3" and 225 lbs and more like 6' and < 200 lbs.
if/when you do get your rides, reach out to me at VooDooGenic at gmail. i'll give you (and yours) a fishing tour of the Redondo/PV area. it's the best fishery in the Santa Monica Bay area.
What model transducer are you using?
hi, it's the model that came with the Echomap 94SV. i believe it's the GT51M-TM.
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 Thanks for the reply, I'm putting together a budget traditional chirp system until we completely upgrade. Keeping it simple with the Striker Plus 5cv and GT23M-TM. Seems like this transducer would be the same as what you have aside from the side view. 👍
@@FishingforMemories yes, i'd say they are roughly comparable. be careful with that head unit/transducer combo. the GT23 might be an 8-pin, and the 5cv might take a 4-pin. you may need a coupling cable.
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 yes, already on order 👍
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Can you share location as you did another Video?
I generally don't have a problem with sharing waypoints, but in this case, it wouldn't help. It was a bite based on bait, and not structure, so it's transitory in nature. But if you follow my guidelines about scouting, you'll eventually run into fish - there are plenty of fish in that sea.
Thanks. I saw you 2 days ago on Sunday with a group in Redondo beach where you were going to more far away .
@@larryjaniak5739 That was an imposter - I haven't been to Redondo in many weeks :)
One question Where is mostly halibut spot in Redondo beach ? Last week two guys got 3 x 18 lb big one
@@larryjaniak5739 i have to be honest, i'm a visual hunter and don't really have the patience for halibut, but i would imagine the sandy areas near the kelp line near Malaga Cove?
