Those are Olive rockfish, otherwise known as " Jonny Bass " they are legal to keep, I've caught tons of those here at the Channel Island, nice size at San Miguel Island.
What kind of reel you guys useing. my reels are a little small for the deep drops and are getting worked

We were out there just past the farllones last weekend. Got some pretty decent lingcod and rockfish also! Big swell though 🤮

Sean’s hands were super rough that day from work and the salt water dries em out pretty bad. Devin wore them in the beginning since he was setting up a gnarly chum bag.

Electric reels are for women and children. Damn thing makes a ton of noise and is pointless for sport fishing.
They are noisy for sure. When you are fighting small little rockfish that don’t fight and you are in 300+ foot of water with heavy lead it’s brutal having to drop and reel up. It takes the fun out of it, but we were harvesting rockfish and it it helps if one guy can catch the little ones and the rest of us can target the big lingcod on conventional gear.
@@DDFishingCo I hear ya but I fish in Monterey Bay where the canyon drops off, and I figure if I can’t reel it up myself, then it deserves to live. Same reason I don’t use a gun when I hunt grizzly bears. If I can’t wrestle one and take it down by hand, then I don’t deserve to have a trophy in my living room. Actually I wouldn’t mind an electric reel but I’m hatin’ because I haven’t bought one yet. Jealous factor is off the charts!
That totally makes sense!! It takes a lot of the fun out of it, it’s way more fun without the electric reel, but when it’s little fish, and we are just harvesting it’s better than not having it haha. Legend for hunting grizzly bears without a gun. 👍
What is with this? I thought I was going to see a fishing video. You got crazy music, no talking a lot of catching but not how you caught them or with what. No thanks. 😡
Hey John sorry to hear you didn’t like the video. At 2:50 we explain we are using a trap rig with a sand dab, at 3:59 we explain the actual setup. At 7:00 we show the sand dabs we are using. Throughout the video we explain we are using hi lo rigs with squid and trap rigs. It’s the same rigs throughout the video besides the jig towards the end which we explained. In the 19:00 minute video, there’s less than a total of 1:00 minute of music. We do the best we can with videos keeping a good balance of information and entertainment.
Music sucks
If you are referring to the music at the very beginning of the video, its only about 20-30 seconds of a 20 minute video. You cant please everyone.
