As a former Giant bike tech I can say for sure that the STP is still one of their most well through out frames in such a basic form. They still make them convertible from a QR to sliding dropout but they are not selling the single speed in Canada. As for brakes I can’t recommend the Magura MT4 enough. Tossed a set on my dirt jumper last year and have since went all Magura across my fleet.
Got an email saying my stickers shipped today! We have some old shimano hydros at Bike Again right now, I'll be there if you want to drop in tomorrow tonight.
Man, I can get one of these for ~$300 now, and I'm just shopping for a DJ bike. I seem to be wanting to use it for exactly the same thing Mr Spindatt is, too... It'd be very convenient if someone could point me to a modern review of the old Giant STP. I can't seem to find one.
Welcome to this (entire) episode of GearGab!😁
lol it always feels weird to introduce an entire episode as gear gab haha
No need to apologize for an 11 minute gear gab episode us bike nerds love geeking out over bike parts!
Yeah I wouldn’t mind this type of breakdown on other bikes even if he’s already done it
Lol @ the Demuro line 😅

For 2011, it was really forward thinking
Those 11 minutes went by fast. Good flow to this one. The ramp crash footage was a nice touch.
Well done as always.
#1 source of valuable zip tie strategies, excuse me I have some duct tape to replace
Oh shoot 👀 That color is fire.
I have 2 Giant bikes, they really ain’t bad at all. Quite versatile
That dropout is steampunk af
Heck YEA!!! Stickiest of the stickies on the way!! Thank you for the DJ breakdown Eric! 🤘

The math behind the magic 👍
I've always like the stp.
that chain tensioner system is on the marin alcatraz too
What happened to your other dirt jumper and your Sunday bmx frame?
that was super fun
I owned two of em... Good bike.... Fun factoid... These frames were designed by Jeff Lenosky during his time with giant.. hence the quailty.

Nice!
The title gyro looks so good on your other bike, imagine the look on this one.... hell yeah. The price sucks tho.
I have a trek 3700.
Wanna take that apart and make a new bike out of it? I'm local. (assuming you're in NS)
"Quirks and features" more subtle hints that this actually is a car youtube channel
Why is the seat on a angle as someone who has no DJ bike I am illiterate on the ins and outs of this it looks goofy to me but probably a reason for it
it mainly because we dont pedal and it has a pivotal seatpost so we run it like a bmx
that is pedalling without sitting down
