The thing this live action adaptation does soo well is its depth in characters. The Stepmother is not straight out evil from the very beginning. As the fairy godmother explains `she knew grief but wore it wonderfully well` and her heart has been broken but she has dignity and shields it . Her first goal is to restore life and laughter to the house though hers is found in society ,cards and games and parties, something grand compared to the simplicity of Ella and her father where there happiness was found in the comfort of their home. Then ,she overhears Ella and her father talking about Ella`s mother saying how much they miss her , only natural because they loved her, but her stepmother sees this as a threat to her and she becomes angry and resentful making her feel second place. As soon as Ella`s father leaves she takes advantage of Ella`s good nature by making her start to serve alongside the household, making her sleep in the attic calming its temporary and redecorating the rooms so all traces of Ella`s mother are removed.Its her taking control and saying this is my house now and i`m here to stay. Then when Ella`s father dies all her bitterness and anger come out towards Ella and hence makes her into a servant. Honestly, Cate Blanchett did such a good job portraying this role and so did all the cast.
Stepmother is the only good thing in this movie. The stupid girl accepts sleeping in the attic even her father still hasn't died at that time so it's not lady tremaine's fault
Cinderella 2015 will always be one of my favourite movies because I love how they made Cinderella more innocent and more “damsel in distress” like and Lady Tremaine more like a heartbroken and feeling out of place woman than just straight up evil like the 1950 Lady Tremaine
@@Mr.cladmaniac the actress plays her role only, but she's beautiful. She plays also Lucrezia Borgia and Estella from Great Expectations... these roles require her beauty as Lucrezia and Estella were beautiful ❤
Spare room like one person commented but I wonder why didn't she say anything. I mean just let them walk over her ? The original animated one wouldn't have done that. She would atleast say something

Of the lady tremains that I have seen Cate blanchett in my opinion is above them all. I really don't know why it is but it's the live action version of villains makes them. Well seem more wicked. That's why I personally admire Cate blanchett so much. 🖤💖🖤
