For me it isn’t necessarily the food but the amount of time we get to eat. Apparently, they think 20 minutes to eat our lunch is plenty of time. Personally, I’m a slower eater so this is a bigger problem for me. But the thing is that our classes are like an hour to an hour and a half??

Ok but the bosco cheesesticks at my elementary school rocked HARD! They were always filled to the brim with good cheese, just cooked enough to be crunchy without being impossible to break through the bread, plus towards the end of my fifth year it got some cheese stretch going on, if there was a SINGLE dish I could make every school have on the menu once in a while, it would be the bosco sticks from my school

my school used to serve “french fries” with chicken nuggets and I SWEAR the cafeteria ladies literally cut up potatoes and put them in the oven for 2 minutes, left it in the fridge for 2 weeks, put them in a microwave, and added ZERO grains of salt. they were so cold and NEVER crunchy. some kid always brought a salt shaker because they were so plain
i wish i were that smart to bring salt bro and they had the audacity to not give us any salt packets

As an Asian, I don't know why I have seen cheesy chicken and rice before. Apparently, my class said it was good. I don't even know why they would serve these things up. But, lucky for me, I got to choose what my lunch was between 3 options or your lunchbox if you have lunch already.
Asian approved. I always bring an extra lunch brought home, because some lunches are, let’s say weird. Also why cheesy chicken? AND RICE THAT JUST DIRESPECTFUL

My school lunch has been improving by a lot actually. They improved on the pizza and now it’s perfectly cooked all the time, they sometimes have funnel cakes on the menu for breakfast and they even added chili dogs, fried mozzarella sticks, and chicken parm sandwiches. Today I found that the chicken was larger than before so I see they are now working with an equal balance of Quantity and Quality
The quality of mine has been decreasing. I’m currently in high school and have been at the same school district since I was 6. They used to have strawberry cream cheese filled mini bagels. I haven’t seen those in years. They also used to have a whole ton of really good lunch options. Now everything from before has either greatly decreased in quality or been taken off the menu entirely. Though, there is one food that has improved. We used to get chocolate chip cookies that were so hard that it probably would have been possible for someone to dent the lunch table just by hitting the table with one if they were given enough time. That isn’t the case anymore.

There were small hairs all over my school hamburger once. I showed it to a teacher and they said it looked like one of my other teachers had shaved all over the burger. I don't know if that was a clue to the mystery meat or evidence of bad school sanitation.
And my friend found a bone....I don't think hamburger is supposed to have bones in it.

I remember when I was at school, and it was finally time for lunch. I got in the lunch line, got my tray and my food, and went to the register to pay for it. But I didn't have enough money so the cafeteria workers thought it would be a great idea to almost NOT feed me. That day I only had spoiled milk and bland french fries.
Also, I tend to be really slow in the morning, so I don't have time to eat after I get ready, unless I want to miss the bus and make my parents late for work and all. So, I'm super hungry before lunch so I was feeling sick to my stomach almost all day, yet the cafeteria workers couldn't even give me the rest of my food for free. I'm pretty sure eating enough is more important than being a dollar off.

Sometimes the milk at my highschool, whether it’s regular milk, chocolate or strawberry, it has that weird sour taste to it. I spit it out though, because I am not risking getting food poisoning. Also, the sour milk only happens occasionally, and for the most part, it’s perfectly fine

At first I was like, “oh yay, sandwich!” And then when I bit into it.. it was slimy…
So I spit the food into a napkin (which I threw away after lunch,I’m not weird) and when I looked inside the sandwich, the outside looked cooked, but the inside.. was pink. I literally gagged.
I also was served grilled cheese with tomato soup once and when I grabbed a spork to drink the soup I found a whole tomato in it..

Don't forget the massive slices of cheese pizza that had the smallest amount of sauce possible, a slimy crust that was somehow still burnt, and cheese that was always burnt, looked a felt a bit like potato chips, and you couldn't even bite into because it was so hard and would just come straight off the pizza

Near the end of my 7th grade year I guess the lunch ladies were running out of food for the fruits and veggies bar, so we had one tray full of lemons. Literally the biggest tray filled with cut up lemon slices.

As a European I am so glad I didn’t eat any of this at my school. We actually had food, let alone edible. All of that I would refuse to eat, it looks disgusting. Like on every Friday, we had fish and chips. Actual cooked properly crumbed fish with fries, no salt though. In primary we had proper food. Maybe not very nutritional but real food not whatever the hell those things are. In comprehension the food wasn’t as good but still better then that. I feel so bad for anyone who ate that, how you don’t have concerning health issues I don’t know. bleh

@@cool.chameleon3 in comprehensive we have to pay to eat the food as well however you can get free school meals if your household has financial issues, single parent, etc. or you can bring your own lunch to eat from home which is what at least half of the school does. Other than that you have to pay or starve.

I remember the grilled cheese is literally just yellowed bread and cheese. And one time my old middle school served these plain chicken sandwiches, like the chicken was white along with a cheese slice.
one time my friends got the milk (although its in a bag now) and it was spoiled with so many chunks in it also another time i got the mashed potatoes and they had no flavor, were super white and chunky, but also slimey and dry and droopy but the thing about the potatoes is that i found what looked like a pigeon foot and under the potatoes theres supposed to be turkey (which is so so slimey) but i found a dead rat with the tail, and feet cut off

Funny school lunch story: On the last day of school, the teachers announced they were going to grill, and naturally, everyone wanted to buy lunch. It was gonna be this huge thing, they even had sliced watermelon, but then when it happened, everything went wrong. The line took so long that kids had to eat outside, the watermelon ran out in two minutes, and the most suspicious thing was the burgers were the same ones they had every day, with a hint of stretchiness in the middle. It was an average lunch day but watermelon for the fast kids and eating outside.

In highschool we had oven baked chicken drumsticks, there was a little bit of pink in it, but it actually had flavor so whatever, nobody got sick.
We also had pulled pork flatbread, greasy as heck, but had flavor better than the Not-Sloppy Joe.
I'll take the soupy Mac and Cheese over the tacky textued one we had my last year of school.
With the hug juice, my school never gave them out, but I still loved them because I would always beg my parents for them after the first time I had them

All they fed us was good.
It was always either cooked potatoes or mashed potatoes. Then some kind of cooked vegetable like carrots or brocoli.
And the meat was actually good. It tasted how it was supposed to taste.
And some days there were fries with beef stew. They also did Mac and cheese ( that one was really good) or spaghetti sometimes.
There was also this thing called meat bread, it tasted great but looked awfull.
the way my school did the green eggs and ham thing was by taking an expired deviled egg, dyeing the yolk green, and then giving us rubbery sour ham. they used the same ham in the "salads" which were basically slimy lettuce and sour tomatoes in a styrofoam container. one of the better lunches the school served was hamburger. the hamburger was gray on the outside, pink on the inside. the surface had bubbles on it and the "hamburger" was served with soggy fries. and my parents wouldn't let me pack my lunch because i quote "school lunch is free."

Middle school is hella better then elementary i can say that
for me i’m in a pretty notice county, and they serve pretty good stuff. today we had chicken and waffles, and every other friday we get crispy chicken sandwiches, or grilled cheese, or the ever delicious burgers. the meat is actually nice, and they almost always have fresh salad ( bassicaly lettuce mixed with cherry tomatoes and the occasional diced cucumber) and i’ll add it to the burger, and sometimes they have slices of tomato, so i’ll add that too. They also have curly fries, so it ends up like a delicious fast food meal. It’s pretty solid. I think people should cut school food some slack, because it’s really pretty good. Everyone is always like EW THE SCHOOL FOOD IS SOOOOO BAD I ALWAYS BRING HOME FOOD. Like emily, chill we know your parents can’t afford school food/won’t let you eat it so you say it’s bad. i know everyone likes deep down. thank you for listening to my ted talk.
Our school only serves food 3 times a week. We have chick fil a on Monday (the sandwiches are breaded, and the chicken nuggets are just regular chicken nuggets) on Wednesday we have Italian creations, and the food is rarely good. On Friday we have pizza. (Idk where its from, but it's really good)

It was the 1st Friday of Freshman year and we were having pizzas. I got myself a small cheese one and took a couple of bites before noticing that there was freaking MOLD under the cheese! I got really sick that day and from then on up to my senior graduation, I brought lunch from home.

Oh my god this is soo different to what I had to eat in my school, I'm actually from a different country (Italy) and I remembered we didn't get pizza at all.. we would have a first and second serving than a fruit for dessert.
For first serving we had stuff like: peas cream with crostini, pasta with tomato sauce, pasta with pesto, ravioli, soup
For second serving we had: roastery chicken legs with boiled potatoes, a slice of tomato with some salad and some cream cheese, some fish sticks with peas

In a Canadian Public Elementary School, we never had lunches like these, mainly because we are in our classrooms for the lunch break (And my school was practically in the middle of nowhere, so that could also be a reason why). The closest we got was hot lunches on Friday, it would always be hotdogs, pizza (ordered from a restaurant nearby), and one other item, most years it was 6-inch Subway subs, that would alternate every week, and every second lunch break would be when they served the milk (which would also be when the served the hot lunches) and when someone who was supposed to get a hot lunch or milk, most of the time it would be just given out (most of the time it was whoever was friends with the absent kid). It was fun just seeing every kid's hand shoot up as soon as they asked "who wants it."
And I never ate anything from my highschool aside from a pizza slice and a large cookie. The cookies was good, and the pizza was also ordered from outside the school.

1,Bottom bun. Its moldy.
2,Meat. Half made of rubber.
3,Cheese. Made of melted plastic
4,Top bun. Stale.
School lunches are actually better now I’m glad
I'm very glad that I went to a private school now, we didn't have a cafeteria, we did have a tuckshop tho, the food was *amazing*
I never had school lunch, but I have a friend that did have school lunch (he now has his own lunch). Anyway, apparently the school served food with "zero pork" since there were many Muslims in the school. Our school lunch menu has mainly meat in it, and on Friday school lunchers get "pizza". A few weeks after the school year started, my friend actually found pork in the pizza, the hamburger, and basically EVERYTHING THAT HAD MEAT. That's right. EVERYTHING HAD PORK. So before he got his own lunch, I'd give him my snacks that I wouldn't eat. Thankfully, he has his own lunch now.
Edit: I just realized two of my school's students got sick from the school lunch, so that sucks.
They still feed us the smiley fries at my school. What me and my friends do is put the smiley fry down in ketchup and then push it down like it’s bleeding out of its eyes and mouth.
Every time the principal says the lunch menu she says "mm mm delicious!" And in my thoughts they are like "M M DISGUSTING!" Lol
Well just to say in a school where my dad works as a sight manager in the uk the milk is frozen becuse it last longer and will not expire on that date if they freeze some food products that's why so it's easy to serve without panicking if they ran out
We freeze out milk at home two it does get watery at first but if u shake it if its a full fat milk it goes back to normal duty to the cream and milk separation from the ice
I remember in intermediate i always LOVED drinking apple juice and fruit punch juice CAUSE THEY HAD ICE CHUNKS AND IT FELT LIKE I WAS EATING A HOMEMADE ICEE OMG IT WAS SO GOOD!!

My old school didnt make us pay for the regular lunch or breakfast, but sometimes they'd put out actually edible, nice looking food on some green cutting boards, with the food running for like 5 - 6 dollars a piece.
I remember one time that i had a "bread roll" on my tray along with whatever it was they served that day
I kid you not, an *ENTIRE* corner of it was made up of more mold than bread. If i hadn't looked at it i would've bitten into it.
Some kid also got completely raw chicken once. They didnt even try to cook it
But by far, the worst were the baked beans and egg rolls. I picked up an eggroll from the school lunch once and i kid you not that thing was 99.99.97% water, and 3% looks like itd cause me cancer
I usually like it when the schools try out other cuisine than just traditional american school lunch, but-
If you do make sure its actually cooked or heated up properly

My school doesn’t give us cheese in our burgers. We used to also have fries, but even if the fries could come straight out of the microwave they would still be cold and soggy. They were also white-ish for some reason?? I feel like they went through a freezer and a few laps in the microwave to make them bearable. And the temperature was always indescribable, they burning but also cold at the same time. 😅

Those little cheese sticks were the bane of everyone’s existence in my school. Everyone would snatch them and trade them for other items. It was so stupid and funny at the same time.
