RUclips is the only resource I use. I started crocheting at the tail end of lockdown and just haven't reached beyond my YT gals for instruction or inspiration.
I am a visual learner, so I love RUclips. RUclips has taught me how to read patterns, but I still like to see how the stitch is made, so that is why I'm very thankful for youtube.
Same here. 🌸
Love browsing in the bookstore for crochet books and usually will buy one to put in my library. However, I seem to be depending more on tutorials on the Internet, RUclips. Watch your show and have made many of your patterns. Books now I’m more for reference and resource. However, I wouldn’t want to be without my crochet library! Hope you’re feeling better. Thank you for your positive attitude. Bless you always.❤❤❤❤
Thank you for another very interesting video. Enjoyed reading all the comments!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. I also love reading all the comments.
I use books & the internet. It’s great when you watch someone working the stitch. Have a blessed day 🙏🏻🙂!
I prefer online, however I do have some books also. Maybe I should open up the books. Ha ha!
RUclips. I have to see the item and follow along.
Good morning, anyway, I like to watch the tutorials because having it's kind of like 1 to 1 help with some of this stuff. I've learned a lot more from the tutorials than I do out of the books because I'm dyslexic, so it's hard for me to read the patterns. Anyway, if it wasn't for the tutorials, I probably wouldn't be crocheting. Well, uh, that's how it is well.I just love him, so just keep it up.Thank you
Good morning Sara. I learned by magazines and books when I was a teenager ( no cellphones back then)😂 I just started watching RUclips about 6 years ago. I like making blankets with different stitches in them & there are a lot of pretty ones on RUclips. I enjoy combining stitches together and making something new. I also enjoy combining from a RUclips pattern and stitches from a book. For me it's a win-win. One book I really need is a book on Borders, when looking them up on RUclips I keep getting the same videos and never the one I'm looking for. I'm trying to find a Pineapple stitch border that has the Pineapple stitches in the corners for doing a blanket. Have a Yarntastic beautiful day 🧶💖🐸
That sounds so pretty, I don't think I've seen one like that.
I find the Pineapple stitches on the sides but plain stitches in the corners. I'm looking for something with the Pineapple stitches in the corners. Some day 😊 I will find one. Have a Yarntastic beautiful day 🧶💖🐸💐
I have several of the books you have, but I use youtube to see a stitch or project. I still enjoy reading and viewing crochet books. I am always learning something new.
I learned myself with a magazine and you tube watching you all wonderful ladies I’m still a beginner not crocheting right now but like to watch it makes me happy 😃 thanks 🙏 ❤👋
I use the internet. I think it is great that if I am having trouble understanding how to do a stitch that I can look up several sources and get best practices from all of them.
I have books, I have 2 of the books you have shown. I buy magazines but rarely make any of the patterns. However I have learned the most from RUclips. Thank you Sara, I have learned so much from you. ❤
My mom taught me crochet in high school (back in the 80s) but during the pandemic, I taught myself Tunisian crochet from watching Kim Guzman on YT. I have the same book from her! I do own a number of crochet stitch books but use ravelry for patterns.
I love RUclips. It has been so great for me. I have used plenty books in the past because I have been crocheting since I was about 6 years old, but I much prefer to watch and learn from tutorials on RUclips.
Good morning Sarah. Since I am visually impaired, there is not a lot of crochet patterns and books around. And even when there are, they would be too large to store all of them. So I rely on you wonderful people on RUclips and your tutorials. It’s wonderful to now have trendy patterns. I did however purchase a good book years ago in braille that I absolutely love. It is crochet in plain English. I forget the writers name. But she also does one about knitting. There’s a little section on everything about crochet and it includes some patterns that are basic. Have a great day, and thanks for the opportunity to share opinions.❤
I do both. I love looking at books but I find it helpful to see stitches being worked. Good question ! 😜
Sara thanks for sharing all the information crochet books. I use books and videos to get an idea. Have a wonderful day and happy crocheting.♥️
I use them all. I have a bazillion books and leaflets and patterns I’ve printed from Etsy, Ravelry, Pinterest, All-Free Crochet and Annie’s. I wish I could live long enough to make them all !!❤
I have 1 book of designs, 1 of borders and 1of granny squares I purchased but, haven't used any of them yet. I have lots of pattern pamphlets and books from my grandma and I have used a several of these. I have lots of free patterns from yarn companies, I've purchased from etsy and I watch you tube.
Wishing you a beautiful blessed day 🙏🏻🥰💖
Have two Leisure Arts 'Little books' from 1999 and 2002 that were instrumental in my learning new stitches, love magazines, and also watch RUclips, especially for knitting.
Hi Sara, I used to buy mainly magazines, I have a couple of huge hardcover books. Now I mainly look on RUclips.😊
🙋♀️ Sara, Maximo, Rosie and crochet family. If I see a book of patterns and I like it I'll buy it. I also use the internet and RUclips for patterns. Thank you for doing another this or that.
I like RUclips and books. I am a visual learner but it also helps me to read the instructions.
Sara, I have a lot of crochet books my mother had, and I have all kinds of books for crocheting. I have stitch guide books, and I have a crochet book to show you how to do the foundation st as you go, too.
I have several crochet books and magazines, but I tend to go to RUclips and my favorite sites like Premier and such for patterns. Being a visual learner I need to actually see how stiches and such are done. Thank you for another great this or that video!
Hi Sara ❤ I love written patterns because I just like tutorials too. But sometimes it is fun
I learned how to crochet before the internet and RUclips so books were my go-to. I purchased a few and inherited many more along the way. I still utilize many of them for inspiration, but will also go to RUclips, internet and ravelry for more info.
Hi Sara i really love having books and paper patterns mainly for inspiration but when it comes to learning i am more of a visual person so really love watching tutorials on YT, I must say I do love collecting old knitting and crochet books from thrift stores. Thankyou for being such a big help in learning and teaching, i am an older lady but i have learnt so much from you. ❤️😊
I really love the vintage books, too.
I have the Stitch Dictionary which I absolutely love! I used to use RUclips for alot of my crochet but since the ads are so lengthy now and literally block the other content from showing to the point I have to back track in the video to catch all of a tutorial cause the ads skip it. Some patterns I use come from magazines. Some I make up.
I know The ads are annoying, but the ads keep the content free. And Some adds you can click through.
Hi Sara, I also started crocheting before the internet. So the library was my resource. Then as I got older I subscribed to a few magazines. I did use a lot of their patterns. The trouble is I think they start to repeat patterns. I use to love Annie’s attic patterns. Now I am retired and doing for charities mostly. So cost is a big thing. So I use free patterns on the internet.
Hi Sara thank you for sharing the books, I love all the ways to learn a stitch. However when I don't understand a pattern or a stitch I do try to find a video about it lol Thank you for sharing and I love your patterns too. Have a wonderful day God bless stay safe and love yall, Nancy
Thanks So much!
You are welcome 💜🌻🎉@@SaraSach
I rether watch RUclips and get my patterns that I watch the video
Thanks Sara! I have a crochet dictionary but really would like a Tunisian book. I'm going to check it out.
I use books sometime. I also use utube. I love learning from utube the best. I can rewind it per say, as much as needed to learn the pattern. Have a terrific week.
Great tip! I tell people all the time, rewind is your Friend!
I like and use any and all formats I can get my hands on! I have quite a few books and use the internet to find a lot of patterns!
I learned originally from written patterns back in the 60's...no Internet back then. Now, I watch tutorials and write out notes for patterns I want to do again.
I use all. Plus I use patterns and stitches from Grandma, mom, family and friends
Hi Sara, sorry to be so late, was busy last week making pirogies with the Church Ladies. I don't like crochet books, eh on crochet magazines. I bought one book for 1.50 in the beginning of learning crochet, & maybe a few magazines at yard sales, but that's it. I won't pay full price for any of these things...cuz I LOVE RUclips.....RUclips is my friend. :)
I like both but really love the books! Thanks! ❤❤
I collect books. I use them every now and again. I watch tutorials on RUclips or print free patterns. I like yarn inspirations.
I used to love books and magazines, but we travel in our RV full time so now it is internet all the way. No room to carry books and magazines anymore. 😢😂
I use both books and you tube but recently I have come to depend more on you tube because of losing my eye sight in one eye and diminished in the other. I can listen better. I have a few of those books and I got mine on eBay for quite a bit less, I also have bought some on Amazon. Just subscribed to your channel, you are very interesting and so happy, and very encouraging. Ty
Thanks So much, And Welcome !
I use both, depends on what I'm making and the needed stitches. So I have a few books, but a lot more patterns that I've gotten from YT and online stores.
I can not read patterns, so I always watch videos. I have books, but it is more like eye candy to me than actually using them. I also have a years worth of crochet magazines for free when I purchased a Better Homes and Gardens comforter set. LOL😊.
I used the internet to learn. Sometimes I stillbuse utube patterns, but have started buying patterns from ravelry. I do have 3 crochet books, one on afghans, one one "500" stitches, and one on bags. I have used them but like to print out patterns when I can.
I like your RUclips video's. You explain the patterns so well. I do have some books but always go to a video
Thanks So Much!
Hi Sara!
I learned a lot from both. 😊
I've bought way too many crochet books! 😂 I like looking through them, but when I examine my crochet journal, most of the patterns I've done this year are from RUclips! 😀
I would like more books but they are expensive. I will most likely use RUclips for my resources or the internet. I do like to see book recommendations. 😊 Good question! ❤
I have purchased several books and I also search RUclips for stitch ideas too. I look for books at the thrift stores and used book stores too.
That's a great idea! I have found some great books at thrift stores, too.
I have some crochet books but I usually go to a video if I need clarity from a written pattern or just use the video tutorial exclusively.
I like your 50 stitches book, that's nice
All of the above, although YOU are my favorite. Thanks so much, be Blessed 🤗💕🥰💐
Oh, thanks So much!!!!
❤interesting that bible book have tunisian pattern I learnt from tutorials on youtube
I love books especially the stitch books cause I like trying to design I still have alot to learn! For me I love visual and tutorials on utube together to do a whole tutorial for a pattern without the visual is so frustrating for me I get annoyed having to constantly deal with the internet stopping and starting I live rural so right now my phone is my best internet with both I can watch the tutorial then refer to the pattern and go back to utube if I have confusion or questions one thing I've learned is not all creators can write a pattern without it being confusing if I'm looking for a pattern that's a big challenge I try to pick one that has a tutorial too. I always recommend you for people who are learning patterns I started with you and u helped me gain confidence and learn! I love all your patterns ive made so many I made my grandson the quillo blanket bag I did it in comic book colors right now my son his wife and my grandson are doing alot of traveling so he has almost wore it out I had to do a patch up job when they came home for a few days 🥰 thank you sara for all u do I count you as one of God's blessings ❤
Thank You so Much!
I learned before youtube and collected books at the beginning. I prefer the internet for patterns instead of buying a magazine or book for 1 pattern. I do like stitch books
I prefer to learn and crochet with a video. I like crochet books because I like looking at the pictures. If I see something I really like I will look on RUclips to see exactly how its done.
Hi Sara. I do have a couple of stitch dictionaries but most of my books are for amigurumis. I don’t design any of my own patterns so I don’t refer to the dictionaries a lot. If I need to know how to do a certain stitch oftentimes I will refer to RUclips. Thanks and take care.
Use both my daughter got me 2 nice book which I will use at some time .
I love tutorials I like to be shown yes I can read patterns but prefer tutorials xx
I love books, but I also go on Yarnspirations and Ravelry.
I'm visual so I like online tutorials, but I have books and am trying to branch out. Magazines have gotten so expensive that you seem to get more bang for your buck if you buy a book.
My favorite is a RUclips channel by Sara Sach. ❤ hehehe. I do have some books and magazines as well
Awwwe. Thanks So much!!!!!
I prefer RUclips, but like revelry and other websites but love love videos
I totally depend on youtube videos. ❤
I bought some books because I wanted to learn every stitch there was. I found the books don’t really help me though. Maybe it is how they are worded, but I just don’t get it. So, I look in the book for a stitch that I like, and then go to RUclips to find it. I am more a visual learner.
I use to buy crochet books just to buy them😊, never used any, the Internet has helped me more.
I do keep my books even though I have downsized twice because of moves cross country. I try to keep as little paper in my house as possible. But I keep the instruction books just in case ... Maybe we won't have technology forever? Maybe I would be without power/Internet for an extended period of time...😮
I have some crochet books and magazines but I'm a virtual learner I learn on RUclips
I prefer the internet and RUclips but I do have crochet books too.
I used to use the books to crochet with. However, now I'm using RUclips all the time. So now they have just become a collection. Lol
I usually use RUclips but sometimes use the free pamphlets from Hobby Lobby
I use both ❤
I wish I could read a pattern and be confident, but I'm a more visual learner. I LOVE filet crochet, but I need to see a full picture of the project, and be able to zoom in on it. Then I look at the pattern to see what it's saying/meaning, I then can say, "Oh yeah! Now I understand." You would think that after doing this to one pattern, I should be able to understand what's being said, but I don't. 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Everyone learns differently. And Understands differently. Just take it slowly, One row at at t time. You will get it, just don't give up.
I learned from a book . And patterns cause didnt have you tube. Do borh know😊😂❤
I prefer written first but use all. I am self taught from library books back in the 1970s. Most of my crochet books are from the 1970s and 80s
I Love Those old pattern books, too!
I tried the internet, but I prefer to use books. They can be depended upon when you have a question.
I can’t read patterns , but would like to learn . I only use You Tube
I do like the books, but sometimes they’re hard to read so I go to RUclips or Pinterest
I like both
Both for me.
I use both
You Tube,You Tube
I use RUclips for help with my stitch patterns.
I use RUclips tutorials more than anything.
I used to buy books before the internet, but now I only use videos.
All above
Hi Sara 🤗 hmm 🤔 RUclips! 🥰🧶🤩
I don't own crochet books, I haven't been able to find the ones I was looking for. So for now it's just the internet
Internet. I buy people's crochet/quilting books and then never seem to use them 😢
Utube is my choice 😊
No books for me.
I tried them, more confusing than helpful.
I'd rather watch you or a few other crocheters
Take care
I am not very good at reading patterns so I prefer you tube
I prefer to learn from RUclips videos
I have had books for many many years, but if I am making something and need a refresher, the Internet is so convenient. I just search Google! I prefer a written tutorial with pictures because usually the YT videos are too detailed for me and take too much time.
Hi Sara, I use to use mainly books and magazines for patterns but lately I have been getting patterns from ravelry or seen things on utube. There are so many options these days.😊🧶
Yes, So true.
I like both
