      Thank you so much Rosanna! The blanket was a "speed knitting" project. lol At least, as fast as I could knit... (I was sooo behind on your CAL, and got that finished just in time to be able to send you the pic). Luckily, the pattern called for 2 strands of worsted held double, so I could sub the Toy Box yarn. That helped a lot. Toy Box yarn to the rescue! lol

I love that blue.Your blanket looks so cozy! So we finally solved the mystery of the contents of the can - that was quite an accumulation. I pray the Lord multiplies it in Heather's hands and meets all her needs as she continues to heal. You sure do buy pretty yarn! Your RUclips story and journey are inspiring. Hi Cathy. Wow, I am just in love with your crochet shawl, the color matches Judy’s bird she put up perfectly. It’s such a gorgeous color. I wish I could knit, I have tried many times and it is just a mystery to me why my fingers will not cooperate to knit. I am so thrilled that Aberdeen has been able to stay afloat. When I heard what was happening I went and purchased from them to try and help. I think the call out to all in this wonderful community did indeed make a difference. I’m so thrilled I can’t even put it into the proper words. It’s wonderful what you are doing for Heather, I wish her well and a quick recovery. 💜🧶🤟🏼

    • @YarnWithHeart
      @YarnWithHeart  Месяц назад

      Hi Dianne. The shawl was a joy to crochet. (Needed lots of stitch markers, but otherwise not too hard.) I was happy to find the right colour of yarn at Mary Maxim. Those aren't colours that I usually put together, but wow it really taught me something about how good that shade of blue goes with black. I totally agree with you that it is such a beautiful thing & a relief that the yarn community came together to make a difference for Aberdeen and Heather. Oh, yes... about the knitting... I went to Marly Bird's channel and watched her videos about teaching a crocheter how to knit. Marly's videos is how I learned continental/picking style. So holding the yarn is similar to crochet. And she explains things in crochet terms. Not sure if that might be helpful for you, if you ever decide to give knitting another try?

    • @DianneMajorCrochet
      @DianneMajorCrochet Месяц назад

      @@YarnWithHeart YES! Thank you, Cathy. I saw today someone wrote up how to teach a crocheter to knit, and it too was also continental knitting, but they decided upon that due to how you hold your crochet hook and they teach you how to knit using a long Afghan crochet hook. Once you get the hang of it, then they have you graduate to using knitting needles. It was really a very interesting read and approach. It was in a magazine called “Blocked”, I just somehow came across it online and saw that. Marley has a good was of teaching, I will definitely be going to see her tutorial. I too don’t usually go out of my normal color ways, blacks, grays, cream, neutrals. But for the past few months I have really ventured far beyond the norms for myself in regard to colors and I have happily surprised myself and I am really enjoying it. Lovely to chat, look forward to your next videos. 💜🧶🤟🏼

    Hi Cathy! I like the words you chose to live by every year. I don't keep paper patterns. A large majority of my electronic patterns are stored in my library on Ravelry. I bookmark websites with free patterns and those stay in my Google account. Then I have some in e-mail attachments which I download as needed and store in my tablet. So far, it's working for me. I do like to listen to audiobooks while I knit or crochet, especially a good mystery book. So, you could say I do mostly everything digitally these days. Life surely is a mystery! I just found your channel today and subscribed. Congrats on your one year on RUclips! You are much braver than I!
    One way to display your stitch markers would be to knit a rectangle with copper wire. Use large wooden needles so the stitches are very open. You just leave the needle in the work and use it as the top border to hang the piece! The wire is relatively easy to knit with and makes an interesting background for the danglies!
    Wishing you continued success with your channel.

    Forgot the question. Looking for something for my circular needles so they are accessible and labeled. I have a ton of patterns as well, I do the binder thing separated by type. Hi Tami! It seems that I was a little lax at our kitchen cleaning. There might be a few dishes still to be put away here. lol Interesting that I also love that you make for others as well. (I notice that you make things that bring people joy. And even new outfits that people can purchase to bring themselves more joy on future years. That, to me, is really special too.) Thank you for sharing about pattern binders. And the earring display! Those are both great solutions!!! My circular needles are in 5x7 envelopes with the needle size and length written on the outside of the envelope. Then all the envelopes are inside a large zippered pouch that I bought at the dollar store. Not very fancy, but early days for me with knitting -- eventually I hope to find something more permanent. I am considering and sort of saving up for a complete set of interchangeable circular needles (haven't quite made up my mind yet.) Both your FO's this week are nice. At first it was a mystery to me how you were going to wear that beautiful shawl. Both ways are great. I was glad to hear you are thinking about making another one as you look lovely in it! If I had a shawl like that I would put a big, lush tassel on the long ends when it is draped down the back as it think it would give it a nice boho/artistic vibe. It’s a mystery to me how other people get so much crafting done. I’m so slow. I guess I would wish for more speed in my crafting. Though I don’t know if I would want to have to keep coming up with new projects. I really like the blue and black together in your piece. Because I almost never use inches anymore I was thinking, wait, how many inches are in a foot again? Then you explained about the 5 foot 12 inches. So clever.

    • @YarnWithHeart
      @YarnWithHeart  Месяц назад

      I am the age that learned both metric and imperial (here in Canada)... but must admit that I have a tendency to switch back and forth between them. Very confusing, I know. The nice thing about crafting is that everyone can go at their own speed... unless something absolutely has to be done by a certain time. (If you absolutely have to have something done by a certain time, thicker yarn, like I used for the blanket really helps. I needed that one done by end of month, and in a thinner yarn it wouldn't have been finished in time for Rosanna's September CAL.) Mostly, especially with knitting, I really do like to take it slow and enjoy the process.

    • @weijourn1970

      I can’t remember back that far if we had any metric at school. When I first came to Finland I was hopeless with metric, (so maybe we didn’t have it at school). Not knowing what the temperature or weights meant was difficult. And always having to add or subtract 12 to get PM times because they use the 24 hour system. Yes that’s true, when knitting slowly you can enjoy the process more.

    I use an app called Pocket Crochet for my patterns🤓

      Thank you for letting me know. (I just did a quick search and notice that Pocket Crochet has a PC version and will link with Ravelry... those would both be very helpful features for me!)

    I do not usually participate in mystery alongs because I cannot take the stress of the deadline.

      That is so true about deadlines! I participated in a MKAL in the spring. I knew, going in, that I might not be able to keep up with the schedule. (Life happens, frogging happens... soooo much frogging for me. lol). Eventually, I tossed out the MKAL schedule and just knit the beautiful pattern on my own time line...

      Hi Maria. The CJ Brady shawl was very fun to make (and I will definitely be making another). I am very happy that you found the channel and it is so kind that you took time to comment. Thank you! See you next Friday! :-)
