I agree with everyone else! Your video is the only one to explain this very thoroughly. The screw on top of my drain will not come out but I will get it now that I’ve gotten this far. Thank you!
FINALLY!!!!! Someone who doesn't keep saying "Yeah it's so easy to find how to unscrew it without tools!! " Jeese! If I knew all you had to do is what you showed me I'd have it off much quicker.
Agree with the others, this is the only working solution I found. Mine is an AB&A pop up stopper. Works exactly like described. 9/16 wrench and finding the right slot for it (there is only one) and then that allowed for me to loosen the cap, then the screw. Needed an oversized flat head with an electric drill. Needle nose pliers for the cleaning. Done! Thanks!
thanks so much I watched the others first that said just screw it but that didnt work but yes yours did thanks for the video not a great plumber but learning, I try to do everything around house and I am a woman, but when you have a great teacher it works
Man!! thank you thank you thank you!! we have been trying to get our drain off for YEARS and no other videos offered this idea. we were trying again tonight to figure it out and stumbled upon your video and it WORKED IMMEDIATELY!! you're the best man!! im so excited to take a shower lol
I'm just going to leave this comment in case anyone has the same issue I had. My drain stopper looks just like this one, but on mine the top "cap" doesn't come off. On mine the top cap and the larger, lower circle part are all one piece. I still used plyers to turn the top cap counterclockwise and eventually it loosened near the bottom and the whole thing unscrewed as one piece. So, if anyone is having trouble getting the small top cap to unscrew, it might be connected to the bottom circle as one piece.
There are variations of this stopper. Mine did not have the slotted center shaft, but required a 1/2" open end wrench to remove. Sometimes the "plumber" has to think for himself.
I've already tried to use pliers for the top. I'm just going to use a gripper and see if I can unscrew it and then, I'll use my screwdriver to remove the bottom screw. I mean, it's too annoying and difficult and remove the top of the drain.
Thank You Thank You !! My sons bathroom tub has been clogged for about 2 years. One night I decided to finally get this done. I was thinking that the flat bolt head had to be loosened. Using pliers and some firm grip turning counter clockwise I was able to loosen and finally unclog. Oct 2023 🛁 🔧
This is only video that worked for my tub stopper. Thank you!!

You are the man!!! I looked other videos and couldn't get it out. Thanks.

what's the best way to remove the entire assembly (including the metal part that holds the drain plug)?
I got the top part removed, but I can't get the whole stopper out using a flat head screw. I keep turning counter clockwise but it won't come out.
This one works! I watched several other videos and none of them helped. Now to get a snake that works (the base of what I got was too wide). 🙄
It's works thank you
thank you so much,
Thanks for sharing kaibigan laking tulong yan sa pag tanggal ng bara dito nga pla aq bagong taga suporta mu stay safe Godbless
I can't unscrew the little knob on top to get to the screw inside!? What will loosen it?
Ty so much !
Thank you

How keep it up
My top is totally stuck guess that's why I need plyers to get it unstuck. This is the most hateful thing for a woman to deal with, and feel stupid
I will send prayers your way 🙏
very helpful and informative...ito na po ako sir.. pasyal po kayo sa premiere ko at 9pm tonight po bigay ako wh free...thanks
Just push down tight (close it)then turn counter clock. The tools are nessassary when its too tight.
