  • When your bathroom sink does not drain well, quite often it's because
    your pop-up stopper is plugged with debris. This video will show you
    how to remove and clean the stopper.

    WOW Thank you so much for so carefully explaining this. Hubby always took care of this kind of thing. But he died 4 years ago and now at 70 I still have so much to learn!!! Got it fixed with a couple oops moments but it works up and down and drains and no leaks!!! All my long hair lost over 4 years. Was not as bad as your drain but was solidly plugged.

      @@dmoody318 Aw Big hugs to you. I do miss my hubby even after 4 1/2 years. But I am totally enjoying my now single life. RUclips also makes it so much easier. I have my dogs kitties and house plants for company. Worked on some wire weaving all day yesterday with out the stress and worry of having to deal with that huge expected C dinner. Woke to a couple inches of fresh snow this morning. A winter wonderland. It is so hard at first and then the new normal sets in. Take care and good for you for taking charge and doing this yourself!!!

    After watching this video, my roommate and I finally mustered up the confidence to attack the beast that was our drain clog. We successfully removed the horrifying contents of the drain and after about 3 minutes of gagging, crying, and high-fiving, we did a test run, discovering our sink was up and running just like normal. Thanks for being our internet dad and teaching us the ways of domesticated adulthood.

    I was not adequately prepared for what I would find in the bowels of that wretched place. This morning I was a child: a naive boy of summer. Never had I known the tyranny of despair. Would that I could say the same now. For countless hours I toiled with the beast. Every minute felt like thousands of lives of a man. With each tug and pull the stench of its wickedness struck mighty blows upon my defenses. How much time has passed now I cannot say, but here I sit with the remnants of the aborted demon fetus laid to waste. It is too late for me. Though I long for the soft warmth of spring, I fear I shall always remain in this soulless winter. You still have a chance to turn back: do not say you had not been warned.

      Your comment is too funny! I have no idea how to fix procrastinating husbands, but I guess that looking at the brightside, I can fix or install just about anything in my car or home now. Try putting off making dinner maybe? As an example of how frustrating it is when a small request is ignored. That's just a suggestion. Making a PB&J sandwich is easier than the task of removing this darn stopper to clean out who knows what!

      @livisuzanne 9 лет назад

      Amanda McAvoy 3 sinks?! I can't imagine the clogs you must be dealing with considering all that gel and whatnot. 😲 One of my biggest pet peeves is hair messes. Facial hair on the counters, hair that is simply washed down the drain after it ends up in the sink, or after a shower. I can't stand it!

    My stopper Fell down the drain and had to take pipe apart. Leave the top on when you remove the stopper from underneath

    • @designerlarry
      @designerlarry 6 лет назад +4

      Shawn Schultz good idea. The video mentions unscrewing the stopper. This won't unscrew and I don't think I did that last time.

      Shawn Schultz I have the same problem. Where did you take the pipe apart?

    • @biancalopez919
      @biancalopez919 6 лет назад +6

      You remove the "trap"--the curved portion of the pipe; it should unscrew in two places. Might be shaped like a J or a U. It's actually not a bad mistake to drop the stopper down there, because when you unscrew the p pipe you might actually find a huge wad of gunk in it which is the bigger source of the drain problem. just have to make sure you put a pan underneath when you work because water and debris will fall out.

    10/10 would recommend. Got home from work and was fed up with this drain that almost overflows simply by brushing my teeth. The hole in the back of the sink also gets stopped up so it's useless. Was seconds away from buying a snake but jumped on youtube and found your video. Had no issues fixing it. I am amazed at how well that worked. It drains like new. My regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I've suffered for a couple months and bought draino and still suffered. I am ashamed I let it go on this long when it was fixed in 10 minutes. I feel so capable. Never again will I have a stopped up drain. Thank you so much!

    I am so excited this was simple enough for me to fix. Can't believe how long I've dealt with a slow drain and tried a few versions of Drain-O when all I needed was this video. I thought I would remove the plug to use a snake, but all the slowness was from goop caught in that top part, no snake was needed! Now my sink is perfect! I even learned how to fix the lever so it moves the sink plug up and down again! My only complaint: would have been nice to know that, after taking the metal bar out, the plastic piece would plummet to the bottom of the drain loop. Fortunately, I remembered watching my parents take apart the bottom curved piece of a sink and easily found the plastic part.

    Thanks! Used this video to unclog a sink 4 years ago, now I'm back to watch it again to unclog one in the new house we moved into! So easy and requires basically no tools. HOT TIP: I know this sounds gross but I have long hair and deal with hair clogs a lot.... everyone with a long haired person at home needs to get a wire hanger and bend the end into a "U" shape, then send it down the pipe and it will grab all of the hair clogs. Works like a charm on sinks or shower drains.

    Thank you for this video!! I keep having to pour baking soda and vinegar followed by pots of hot boiling water down my drain to semi-clear the clog. That usually only lasts for a month or two before I have to do it again. I'm soooo glad I found this video because now my drain is completely unclogged and drains perfectly!! Such a quick and easy, albeit kind of disgusting, fix!!! The things I pulled out of my drain were nasty!

      +Sonia Lightyear you actually don't have to unscrew the stopper. It's actually better if you don't. Just follow the rest of the steps, and you should be able to unclog it.

    Fixed the drainage issue. A beautiful clump of hair and muck was removed. Then had a fun time figuring out how to get all the parts back together since I didn't look at what hole and/or setting each component was in prior to disassembly. But, I finally figured it out and everything is working perfectly again. Thanks for this video. I just needed to post this on the Internet since I'm actually proud of myself for once.

    Thank you for sharing this video. A few months ago my girlfriend and I undid most of the pvc plumbing and really scrubbed and cleaned inside the pipes.
    Sludge city!
    It was agonizing and tedious.
    Water has been draining s l o w l y,
    and I brought over a drain snake- which I've never used but watched plumbers use theirs.
    Hopefully your video will fix the clog without going through that or repeating the last experience.
    This seems direct and a bit quicker.
    Thank goodness for RUclips !
