Yes, pour pure bleach down the clogged kitchen sink or clogged bathroom sink or clogged toilet, wait for an hour, then pour hot water afterwards, once the clog has cleared, run cold water down the sink or flush the toilet a few extra times to ensure the clog is cleared all the way through the pipes. I also agree with his advise to perform monthly maintenance to prevent future clogs.
I almost used Coca-cola, but I want to drink it with my pizza. LOL'
I almost used salt, but I need that for my cooking.
I almost used vinegar, but I need that to clean my vegetables and fruits.
I almost used baking soda, but I need that for my laundry.
I almost used hydrogen peroxide, but I need that for my first aid.

Thanks Joy, after watching this video I went straight to my bathroom where I have a slow sink. The water goes down but really slowly. I dumped about half a cup of baking soda and half a cup of white vinegar and it fizzed for some time. I then took a bristle brush that I used for cleaning bottles, gave it a quick brushing and bam I couldn’t believe my eyes after pouring hot water from the tap. It went down like no tomorrow. I did the same to my kitchen sink and bam that was clean as a whistle. Once again thanks!

Excellent tips. Another tip is to keep the water tap running at max after you have cleaned your dishes, this will drain oils and debris. Most of us shut off immediately finished cleaning plates so not enough water to drain the pipes. Keep the pipes opened for a few minutes. Never clogged again

If you don't have a plunger & toilet is blocked ..... Just use a basic floor mop (cotton string head on wooden pole)
Tie a plastic carrier bag over mop head .. ram it down toilet pan a few times until the blockage clears.
    Always worked for me.x

Great ideas for simple drain clogs. Also for toilet plunger I use only the Acordian type that sucks in more water than flange type in it and forces more water into toilet drain hole . Forces more water faster to unclog drain faster. And using very hot water mixed with degreaser /dish soap in toilet first plunging enough to get mixture to clog then for 15-30 minutes wait then plunged again works perfect

We have found that Dawn Dish Soap works best for eating grease in the Kitchen sink. We used another brand for hand washing dishes, pots and pans, etc. for years and got clogged drains occasionally. A friend who is actually a plumber told us he always recommends folks use Dawn in the Kitchen sink because he has found drains rarely clog if customers are Dawn users vs. other brands.

Sorry to be a downer here but I've been a service plumber for 38 years, if ANY of these were the answer don't you think we would be advocating for them, I never enjoy drain cleaning so would not under any circumstances deny anyone solving their own problems, this is nothing but a temporary reprieve for snaking/jetting the line. When hot water is used all it does is temporarily loosens the grease and sends it further down the waste pipe where it cools and becomes a solid again. Plungers will blow a small hole through the softest debris and let it drain then gets clogged easier then before. Personally I use Dawn dishwashing detergent in all sinks which degreases the drain as it flows, which often then allows the debris caught in it to flow, I haven't had to snake my own drains for many years because of it. But I have had to remove hair caught on things like the popup rod in bathroom sinks popup drains, or it's become caught on the popup itself, which is usually easy to solve by removing the rod trapping the popup in the drain and fishing the hair out.

I’m glad to see this, because I have the vinegar and baking soda it just got delivered last week, because I have no way to get anywhere. And I’ve got a good plunger and it definitely has power to do the job. My problem, is that I have had dishes in the sink along time and I have a strainer or a screen to keep stuff out of the sink, but I think it got moved and stuff went down there. So this week, my goal is to empty the sinks out I’ve got some stuff I need to throw away that’s in there anyway because I’m swapping out plastic containers and some plates, and then I’m going to clean the drain and get it open. And I do have sodas although none are regular cokes I do have regular seven ups and I have plenty of salt to try that with soda so My goal is to put all my heavy duty gloves, empty the sink, and start doing what I think would be best to go through some standing water; it’s not much but if the natural cures don’t unblock it, I have heavy duty Drano if nothing else works, and I do hate to use chemicals. So thank you so much for sharing because it is giving me other ideas to try.

Here you are something important. When you want to use a pump firstly pour some water into the basin, then put your finger or palm on the opening of the small safety hole, so the air cannot leave the safety tube through the small opening. Then use the pump with your other hand. This way the water in the tube presses the dirty blockage more strongly on the inside.

When using a plunger ina sink it's essential to firmly cover the overflow outlet, otherwise pressure won't build up in the drain when using the plunger.

If the clog is in the drain pipe in the wall, then it is wasted time. A snake is what will fix the problem. It would have to be in the T fitting above the P-trap just under the sink.

Here's my method: Remove the wire hoop from a basin plug and drill a hole through the plug. Glue a garden hose spigot onto the plug. Attach a garden hose to the nearest tap (eg. laundry washing machine cold spigot) and the other onto the plug spigot. Turn on the tap whilst holding the plug in and mains pressure will unblock the pipe!

Please I highly recommend to use Dawn soap for washing dishes and pots It's the best to prevent unclogged your sink pipe because it desolves the grease much better than the other soap dishes brands .

I poured the baking soda in the basin and let it slowly move through the clogged pipes by adding water as it slowly drained away. Probably about 150g.
I then poured vinegar and the boiling started. The glucking ;-) reaction could be heard a distance away from an inspection lid. When the boiling stopped the pipes were still blocked. I then filled the basin with water and used a plunger and suddenly the pipes cleared. It seems the baking soda / vinigar reaction successfully loosened the muck and goo to pop out as a plug (was the impression I got) and the pipe is now clear. 10 minutes.

I've been a plumber for more than 50yrs. I've only had it a few times that the clog was in the trap. That was because grease was poured down a drain and set up like wax on the water in the trap.
Most generally the clog is down stream, a build up in the whole drain. You might break it loose with a plunger, but if the drain is vented near by or has an AAV, air admittance valve, plunging is a waste of time. If the drain is totally stopped up, baking soda, coke, etc won't work. If you can't get the solution to the stoppage, it won't work. Pick up a auger in a drum and auger it out.
Bath lavs are another story. A lot of the problem is under the stopper. Where the coat hanger will work to pull out a hair clog.
For $2. at your hardware store you can pick up a plastic version of the coat hanger that won't damage the drain and won't get stuck !
Remember the stoppage is hardly ever in the trap.........it's a build up in the drain down stream.
Do Not pour liquid drain cleaner into standing water or use 2 different kinds. The reaction may cause a bad smell that may be toxic and it will also ruin the finish on your sink.

Sir. You are a master. 14years ago I bought this old house. Suddenly the drain clogged at the lowerest part of the drain pipe.
I called the plumber. He came and finished cleaning the waste block. Then he told me do the same way that he did. after that I do it four times a year. Until now no problem at all.

Also a bad idea to use caustic cleaners in case you decide to call a plumber who would then need to deal with a dangerous substance as a result
