I dropped something in my sink. Can you show us how to get stuff out of the drain with a bucket?
I just love this person. I want to say kid because I’m old and he could be my son. So why I say I love this kid it’s totally in a non disrespectful way. I seriously appreciate and adore him. I send some of these videos to my son in college. What a gem. Thank you.

I appreciate how even though the drain wasn’t fully unclogged, he still admitted that you’ll need to do it a few more times. Rather than lying saying “the first time is plenty!”
Y’all pay attention, because BOOKMAN KNOWS!!!!!!!!!! Get’tem BOOGAH!!!!!! 😁
I could do it with zero tools/chemicals in less than 5sec. just using my hand.
Sometimes you also have to physically clear a blockage (like with hair).
Or just take the pipes off and clean them out it's really easy to do.

just use muriatic acid it's much more powerful than the baking soda and vinegar combination

@@francisabellana445 DO NOT USE Muriatic Acid!!!
The off gassing can literally melt the linings of you lungs! PEOPLE Do Not listen to the what I am assuming is a joke.
If it is a bathroom sink [a really common place for this issue) go under the sink and undo the p-trap (alot of times you won't need any tools) and clear out the lines then reinstall the same as you removed this will also remove the clog (usually hair) and not push it further down the pipe 😉
This is the real solution. It's actually easier and cheaper than anything else.
@@uncreative7774 and no harsh chemicals in the lines
I’m a plumber and this might put to much pressure on the drain line. For a cheap alternative, buy a bottle of Insta-flow and use only about a tablespoon and hot water and it will eat all the hair and corrosion. If it’s still draining slow call a plumber!🤣
Nooooooooo, he has vinegar and baking soda!!! You can't ACTUALLY know how to fix the problem.
It really depends.
I regret deciding “oh I’ll fix that slow draining sink.” when I was visiting relatives. Took the P trap apart permanently.
It was not leaking, but the chrome plating was all that was holding it together. So I had to buy the p trap kit, some gaskets, and the tools to put it all back together.
Baking soda and vinegar is exactly how I unclog drains in my house. If I could add one suggestion - about 45 minutes after the vinegar dissipates, pour a kettle of boiling water down the drain. It'll clear any remaining baking soda and leaves the drains just *chef's kiss*
Don't type chefs kiss. Thats cringe.
Depending if it's pvc or not. If it is, you should use hot water. Not boiling.

Using a base and a acid is counter intuitive as they dilute each other and make a salt. Baking soda by itself is better as bases tend to break up stuff that gets caught in drains better which is why drain cleaners are basic. Also the best method to clean them is to always just clean the peatrap by removing it
My thoughts exactly, they'll just neutralise each other
This is the correct solution (no pun intended). Also, to get the hair and stuff from the tailpipe (before the p trap) just use one of those long thin plastic snakes with the small hooks on each side.
the purpose of the acid+base is the bubbling reaction, it moves the gunk around and makes it easier to remove
@@teal9156 I don't think any minor fizzing is going to move around any significant gunk/hair.

Wait! How'd you pop a video of an exact problem I'm dealing with and was just pondering the other day on how I can get it to drain faster?!? Love it, thanks again. You never fail me.
You dont have to use chemicals you can just do the following. Get under your sink, take the pump/pipe off, get a bowl, and clean that piece and then it will be fine. My little brother stuffed a flour and water mix in there and that makes a doughy consistency and clogged it. This worked perfectly and the drain has been fine ever since
Love this!! Just did this today!! My mom actually taught me another trick! If you pour hot boiled water down the drain first then it helps loosen things up in the drain beforehand before you put the baking soda down!
This channel never fails to surprise me with how awesome and wholesome it is!

My shower drain was draining super slow recently and I just took the toilet plunger to it lmao it works great, never drained so fast since I've lived here
Bro I just tried and it work omg
I just use the ball of my foot on the drain. just like a plunger.
It cracks me up that people think maintenance is a "hack." Shockingly, you do actually have to take care of things you own.
I just cleaned mine out today, without using anything but work and water. I removed the stopper and pulled the gunk out. Rinsed everything off, and reinstalled. It drains perfect now 👍
love the Star Wars posters!!
I've used this technique on seriously clogged sinks before, not just slow draining. I accidentally clogged a sink at my parent's house as a young adult when they were on vacation. I panicked and googled this tecnique and it really works wonders.
A bucket and a wrench and 15-20 minutes just remove the P-trap clear the clog and put it back together. Better yet stop washing hair down your bathroom sink drain and it won't get clogged to begin with.
If it’s draining too slow immediately, or if you used the baking soda vinegar trick and it still clogged, that means there is hair and gunk stuck on the drain stopper. All stoppers are removable. Remove it, take the hair out and Wala.
he said baking soda and you KNOW the first thing out my mouth was vinegar. Thanks for tips too!!!
Doesnt work tho
I know for sure I’m not the only one who thought this was a key and peele skit at first 😂
You can also use a plunger if you are able to take the drain out. It works just as well.
The fact that he even showed us that you might have to repeat the process shows that he is honest and is not trying to pull the “this is the only way it will work you only need to do it once” I very much appreciate this honest content
"You want to a couple tablespoons up to a quarter cup"
*Adds whole box*
IKR. I have no idea what he thinks he's doing but pouring the recommended amount is actually ok. And, shockingly, if you're still having a problem you should call a professional.
Licensed master plumber here. If your bathroom sink backs up almost immediately when running water then 9/10 times it's because of build up on the pop-up drain. Quickest way to resolve this is to remove the pop-up and wipe clean, shine a flashlight down into the drain, you may have more debris in there. Since pop-up drain styles vary, look up how to remove your specific one on RUclips. You'll be surprised and disgusted with how much gunk and hair gets caught by the pop-up.
But how did he know that fixing my bathroom sink is on my to-do list for tomorrow?? 🤔
Same but with my shower, I’ve been putting it off for like 2 weeks😂
very wholesome humble dude. His voice gets me through the day.
Perfect timing as my bathroom sink needs this done 👍
Mixing those two cancel each other out and the bubbles are just Co2. It’s not cleaning anything, if your drain is slow, 9/10 times it’s because of hair.
Use a plastic snake with those sharp teeth to get into the pipe, twist it around, pull it out, clean it off, repeat until it isn’t picking anything out of the drain anymore.
Had my bf do this to our drain because he has long hair. Our sink actually drains fast now
This man deserves an award for helping millions of people solve command everyday problems that most people can’t solve, you deserve 100M subs.
The cap on your sink drain plug unscrews. This will give you better access to pour your volcano done the drain.
Also, try using a plunger. They sell little ones for sinks, but you can use the regular toilet ones on your sinks too, works beautifully.
“A couple tablespoons” *POURS HALF THE BOX*
unscrew the drain plug, fill sink with an inch of water, then use the palm of your hand like a plunger. screw drain plug back in.
Thank you SIR!!!
YOU HAVE A HELPFUL AND AWESOME CHANNEL!!!
PLEASE KEEP UP YOUR GREAT FIXES!!! THANK YOU!!!
Thousands of my children are blocking the drain, I don’t think vinegar will cut it.
Ayo 😱😳📸
this guy is so sweet and wholesome. he makes me happy❤
I have old drains and shedding hair and have used this technique for years. I also let mine sit for around 10 mins then pour a little more vinegar down and it fuzzes again. Wait another 10 and pour boiling water down slowly. Works every time 💯
I’ve used this on a sink before and it’s worked really well for me!!
when doing it for the sink use the overflow hole that goes directly to the drain it can help by attacking the clog lower than the top layer
Funny how a professional plumber told me to never use baking soda with vinegar .It may clear the upper arrangement but he said it builds up and can make the matter worse down there .Just run hot water for 10 mins every month (or bi weekly) depending on how slow the water drains.
Remove the mechanical pop up plug and clean it. That's the usual cause of slow moving drains. Also you can adjust the height of the plug so more water can drain.
I do this. Kids love helping.
I give an A for effort but that won't get rid of the problem. The issue with bathroom drains is the combination of hairs, soaps and oils from The body. That mixture won't get rid of all of them. Just the oils and some soap. Best to remove the pop-up from both drains. Look up how to install or remove a pop-up assembly and you'll know how simple it is. Tub drains are a little harder to clear out but can be done with your hands. A zip it is a great tool for people at home if you don't want to take anything apart. Although the tub drain you will have to take the pop up off which usually just unscrews or pops out. This method shown though is a good way to get rid of smells from you drains as well as your washer machine.
Baking soda neutralizes vinegar. The only reason to mix the two is to build up pressure with the gas that is formed.
usually this happens to sinks with a stopper that is lever operated (a stick in the back of the faucet) because it requires cross bars under the stopper for it to sit on, and those crossbars are so good at collecting hair.
just go under the vanity, unclip the operating lever and unscrew the cap, take out the stopper and use a tweezer to take out the chunk of hair and put everything back together.
This dude is awesome, inspirational.
Baking soda and water fix so many things. Cleans stove and racks overnight. Use baking soda on dog or cat stains on carpet, work it good into the carpet, then spray vinegar onto treated areas, scrub it into carpet, repeat vinegar if needed until all baking soda breaks up and dissolved.
Alternative: if there is a drain hole, cover it the tape (the hole on the side of the sink). Fill the sink with about an inch of water. Use a plunger. A bunch of gross stuff should come out. Remove any big pieces, or hair. Let it drain.
Yes it may seem grosser but it works much better and far faster.
Remove the tape and wash the sink.
Thanks I needed something like this because I am having problem with sinks both in the kitchen and the bathroom 👍
I love vinegar for a lot of stuff including this, but the easier way, and it doesn’t really take a lot of know how would be to open your P-trap and look at your down pipe from the drain and also look into the drain going into the wall but majority times it’s in your downpipe from your drain, and also in the P-trap itself as far as a blockage goes
Just something to add on. After letting it soak in, plug the drain and fill the sink all the way with hot water and soap. Then let it go and the extra pressure should help get the clog dislodged and the soap will get rid of any grease buildup. I’m a Red Seal plumber and have done this many times with great results.
If you tape up the overflow you can plunge any sink or tub drain.
If plunging doesn’t work, take the sink P-trap out, empty the water in the toilet and scrub any buildup in the trap. Way faster and more thorough
For shower, it is better to unscrew it to unclog any hairs underneath. I found a huge clump under the drain and now it works great.
Careful if you have silicone around the base of the sink spout and handles, the vinegar will soften the caulking that is sealing it to the sink.
Not surprised by the Star Wars art in the background. Totally here for it, love this guy!
Vinegar is good. Never could get my glass stove top clean, always looked like it had a film, until vinegar 50/50 with water in a spray bottle. Now I use it on everything.
My neighbor installing a water heater wanted to re-use the brass fittings, new ones cost $90 bucks. I told him to soak them overnight in vinegar and then clean them up with a brush. He took it further and polished the non threaded surfaces with steel wool making look brand new.
I love you! I never throw away the baking soda that I cook with, put in the refrigerator and the freezer. I always pour it into all of the drains in and around the house, mostly to prevent odor. Rarely do I have a slow drainer, but now, because I always have white vinegar, too... I'm ready. 👍😊🥰
Bruh we’ve had this problem for so long and I haven’t even actively been looking for a solution thank you
A good thing to add is a plunger specifically for the shower and sink, the vinegar and baking soda is good but always helped by the jolt of air they give.
People in the 80's I know be using baking soda and vinegar back in the day. Keep up the good work friend
Do not remove the drain plug when doing this! I learned it the hard way. If you do it’ll spill most under the sink
I love how this channel keeps pumping out genuinely useful tips for daily life! TYSM
If you'll disconnect the drain plug under the sink, on this kind, and clean it as well you'll get even better results.
Just for those who don't know... Most drain plug top caps, at least in this same style, are unscrewable... Rather than removing the entire armature...
Should probably consider removing the U bend pipe and clearing it of any debris first it's very quick and simple only really requires a adjustable wrench and bucket
This dude is great and he's smart. His dyi vids are informative.
Drain cleaner uses a string base to cut through the clog. It has an exothermic reaction with water helping the cleaning.
Baking soda and water produce co2 and water, which want do anything to the clog.
Man you are one of my favorite creators ever
A plunger also works really well, just yank up don't push down
The drain cover should be removeable with a bit of wiggling. If you wash the baking soda into the clog with a couple spashes of water, then let it sit for a few min before adding the vinegar, the reaction will loosen the clog far better. I'd also suggest starting with buying a plastic drain snake to pull out hair and cotton buildup.
This is better on your pipes too! Liquid PLUMBR or Drano will work all the time the first time but, they’re hell on your pipes. They cause CVS and ABS to deteriorate faster. Depending on where you are too, it’s not good for the septic system.
Tape off the hole on the side and use a plunger. I also buy the drain-O stuff
Air hose for a fish tank connected to a can of duster works great. Get that hose as far as it'll go down, fill the sink with water, give the can a few toots and the clog blows away.
I love to boil the vinegar in my teapot to decalcify, then do this in my sinks/shower drain!
Just tried this. Had to do it twice. Works mint!
Thank you I learned something new every time I watch your videos.❤ you’re the king of hack tips.🔥
Can confirm this hack works. My shower drain wasn't draining and my mom told me about this hack. Shower drain is draining now
This is great advice for people who are not plumbers or all that. But if you have a wrench (or just strong hands) you can also just unscrew the syphon under the sink and clean all the debris inside that way. Give it a little wash and screw it back in- good as new 🙂
This is the most useful channel! So glad you're making these useful shorts!
Omg this video was made directly for me
I truly bet this guy is a pro at backed up drains....
You can just use the vinegar. It works better because the acid isn't neutralized. The bubbling action isn't doing much.
To make it work extra well, take a large boiling pot of water and dump it down the drain after you've let the mixture sit in it
This guy is amazing. He's the better version of 5 min crafts, except his are actually useful.
Awesome. Thanks for this. 🙌
Excellent you just neutralized the vinegar…
Baking soda is a base while vinegar is an acid, their chemical reaction produces water with a tiny amount of salt in it, not a fat destroying drain cleaner.
The best channel on RUclips shorts
Thanks for the tip, Cookie!
The bicarb soda and vinegar soaking in the drain won’t really do much. The initial reaction might help clear things up a bit, but once the resection is done the pH is neutral and has no benefit over water.
I love this guy and his channel. so freaking helpful and wholesome while he does it 😊thank you so much!!

I always use a drain snake. You can get them on Amazon for cheap and they work like a charm. It’s super satisfying seeing all the hair and gunk come out of your drain.
