ACTUALLY, WITH US MOVING INTO THE AIR AND FIRE ELEMENTS, OVER NEXT SEVERAL YEARS AND MOVING INTO LAST 5 YEARS OF DECADE WILL MOVE VEGAN LIFESTYLE INTO THE FOREFRONT.
This was such an amazing podcast. Had no clue the founder was this grounded and down to earth. What a hell of a story. Except, Whole Foods was the most incredible grocery store. It was an experience. I used to go there for the coffee bar just to hang out for work in the morning since I work remotely, and then pick up lunch before heading home. I miss those days in the way it felt. How in house the bakery was and food. Now, everything is automated. Grab and go. Packaged in plastic. I see "bioengineered" on 90% of the products. It sucks since Amazon bought them compared to how it was. Wish he never sold it Amazon. I can see selling it, but why Amazon man.
I can’t believe he actually sold to Amazon with his belief system but at his age and what is happening in the world now I guess it was a good move for him
Just fantastic in so many ways for me - I am a retired business owner, plant-based nutritionist, yoga instructor and I still learned a lot from this. Thank you Rich for a wonderful interview and thanks to your guest, John Mackey, for the vision of the next stage in his life to bring more power to people to control their own lives and manage their health. Mackey admitted he sells a bunch of junk foods, soda, candy, cakes, pies, refined dinner rolls high processed foods with natural flavor and in plastic packaging that destroys the environment and his manufacturing plant in MA has ceiling leaks which contaminate the foods because he doesn't care about anything or anyone. I purchase my produce from local farms and farmer’s markets. Off season and after hours I shop at our employee-owned Community Market in Sebastopol, CA. One of the most beautiful markets with the freshest local produce that I have ever seen is Good Earth in Mill Valley, California. Everything in the store is organic. The prices are no higher than Whole Foods market, but the quality of the food, the selection of locals food and goods, the freshly made take out foods, the beautiful atmosphere are so far above any Whole Foods.
