  • Joseph Kosma created the music for this hugely popular ballad using words by French poet Jacques Prévert, later translated by Johnny Mercer before it became a real jazz standard, with acclaimed performances from the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis.
Here, both the arrangement and tenor horn solo performance are provided by Jonathan Bates.

This is very similar to the Joseph Alessi version. Did you also arrange that one?

Isn’t that an alto horn in Eb? With cornet, baritone, & Euphonium in Bb

To americans, yes. But the entire rest of the world calls it the tenor horn

@@charliewhelan9488 In fact it's called an alto horn in most countries outside the UK.

So what's the formation? Trumpet, tenor horn, baritone horn and euphonium? Or trumpet, two tenor horns and euphonium?

Thingaloo - Cornet (cannot see if it is Eb or the more common Bb), Tenor Horn in Eb (Solo), Baritone Horn in Bb, Euphonium in Bb. All instruments are transposing/ reading treble clef as that is the way it is done in UK brass bands.

@@dreamwolfnektovich1944 Not same. The euphonium is much larger than the tenor horn.
