Reducing tire pressure is a bad idea, lowering the pressure increases the tires footprint and will cause your tires to float on top of the snow more. You want normal pressure so your tread can dig in to the snow.

Yes, I have. When I drove a truck over the road I was going through Indiana and encountered "freezing fog", by the time I got to the truck stop I couldn't open the door. My truck had well over 2 inches of ice on it, I had to crawl out of the window. An air hose broke because of the weight of the ice on it. It was a strange phenomenon, weird temperature combo, warm enough for fog, wind chill cold enough for the moisture to freeze on the truck.
That was definitely a snownado and I lived in Buffalo a long time and never had snow up to halfway on my front door! Now what I do remember is how everybody helped each other in the winter and in the snow and watching those guys push that ambulance I couldn't believe they made it go but I have seen snow drift over the cars like that and I do remember it. But the people up there really have a way of kindness about them. Along with toughness. You don't find that everywhere
I lived in peterborough, ontario during the 90s and there was an ice storm that covered cars, houses, trees, powerlines, everything exposed outside was like a weird dream...it was truly a sight to behold... The storm wreaked havoc for days and many thousands all over southern ontario, into quebec, and the maritime provences were affected, the weight of the ice on powerlines caused breakage and power outages for 2 days...in some other cities for almost a week, trees...huge trees hundreds of years old were destroyed, the ice heavy branches snapped, and some trees snapped totally in half, some people were trapped in their houses from the ice in between the edges of the door frame, or the locks and handles were frozen and would not turn, the best part of it all was how everyone was concerned for others safety, checking on the seniors at home alone, the needy and others with food, clothing, blankets, wood if they had fireplaces, everyone and their neghbours pulled together for the love and safety of others, even homeless people from shelters helped, some people who are homeless are because of events out of their control, like losing a job, or injured at work and workers compensation claims are denied and they can no longer afford to live in a house or apt, mental health issues and addiction but even still many would give you a dollar if it was needed, even if they only had 2 dollars, they are people, and in many cases their appearance is not accepted because of dirty clothes, or unshaven and are looked at as worthless bums, its sad because even if they were to look for a job, they do not have the clothing to go to a interview, or clothes to wear to work, most programs...if any...do not work simply because the system itself is broken, and or not in place or available because of lack of funding. Even just saying hello to someone can make their day or week because many many times they are ignored because of how they look, and even the gesture of a hello can make anyone feel included and not ignored, and wrought with sadness for a fleeting moment, consider this senario...say a loved one collapses of a heart attack, or stroke, and no one else knows C.P.R except a homeless person, or someone most look down upon, says i know C.P.R and helps until paramedics arrive, saving your loved one by giving a bit more time to get air into the lungs without mouth to mouth or with it, would that person look the same to you? would it change your mind about people out there most would not talk to or comment on with disrespect of sorts? I used to be homeless, broke, unemployed, and disabled but did work all my life, and at one time a place to live, but extreme depression took me deep into darkness but not suicidal, i know from experience how the system fails many, however at least there is a system that does what it can and its lack of funding, housing, trades training etc...we all need each other, and others are willing to help without expecting anything back. Its in times of emergency like storms or whatever that we can all contribute to helping others, its too bad we sometimes forget the most vunerable, honest, down on their luck, people who would give you their food if you needed it, even if it meant it was their only meal of the day...anyway...ive seen and lived in a frozen over city and it will be a challenge for sure.
I don't know why people don't know enough to stay home when they know a storm is coming. They have been telling about it for a week or more. Christmas can be delayed for a week to save lives. Nothing is worth going out in storms like this..
I have seen snow this heavy once, maybe twice. The heaviest I’ve ever seen was at 7,500 feet in AZ ,42 inches in 36 hours but no wind. It was so beautiful. I also have seen some heavy snows in other cold places that I’ve lived-CO,WY and IA. WY has impressive winds/cold with their snows. What I’ve never seen is that crazy I’ve from the lake.
This is why us Northern folks get a laugh when the southern folks freak out about a hurricane. They don't even have to worry about hypothermia. A foot of water is also easier to drive thru than a foot of snow.
In Tonawanda we are getting hammered it has been snowing senese Friday morning and has not stopped. Strong winds has well so there is drifts waist high. The snow in the street is knee high. There is no ambulances running because it is so bad.
I've driven in that "blue sty above/zero visibility on the ground" condition along the MN/ND border. We spent as long driving the first 70 miles in the squall as we did driving the remaining 250 miles back to the Twin Cities once we got away from the wind. I hated it and will do anything (i.e. stay put) to avoid driving in it. Sunny but -3° (-20° wind chill) in the Twin Cities as of 10:30 am. Looks like a winter wonderland from inside the house.
My late Fatherinlaw shared photos of ice covered buildings etc along Lake Erie, Buffalo etc from. lake effect snow storm/blizzard back 2000-2005ish time.
For as much snow as we get in the city, I always feel super sorry for the south towns because it's like the lake dump trucked a mound of snow on them then just sprinkled the rest of us in comparison.
Stay safe. I now live in Oklahoma via Connecticut. I must say. I don't miss these snow storms. Though the wind chill here did get in the minus double digits.
wow! Like in Russia. The same weather for 4-6 months a year. Are you warm at home? How do you heat houses? It is obvious that the states in the south are equipped for the unusual cold. Is this normal winter weather for the northern states?
Yeah, I saw that thumbnail years ago. Lol. Jk. I know you can't get footage from a storm that hasn't happened yet. I'm just outside the city. Crazy drifts from the high winds. 10ft in some places bare pavement in others.
I'm in Amherst. The plows haven't made it over quite yet. I think they're focused on the main roads like the Blvd which I live directly behind. So my neighbor decided to dig themselves out of their driveway only to get stuck down the street for like 2 hours and once they dug out came right back home. They were literally at the corner 😆 my daughter's friend car is in our driveway because she was supposed to go out of town now we get to use her and her crew to dig us out 🤓
I found it interesting when they showed the snow coming down on Buffalo but from where they were filming, it was blue skies with stars out. All the videos are of Buffalo who was severely hit. In other areas, not so much. I think the media just wants you to think it is all over like Buffalo with its lake-effect snow. I live pretty far South, but our temperatures haven't fallen below 26F.
god the whole family over just in time. this thing came in and came in quick friday morning. been cooped up together and luckily never lost power. Nothing were not used to out here though. Buffalo strong. But will say I went out a couple times and and open skin for exposure does not take long to take effect with frostbite. All it took was minutes for my cheeks and hand to feel it trying to get a couple video's. Sadly have many friends without power and it was been a huge challenge for them. Hoping for the best. Go Bills
the thumbnail is from a few years back, that spot is notorious for freezing waves spraying over. I was there friday when this storm started rolling in, had to leave because the waves were already starting to freeze the side of my car after 2 mins.
You mean the 5 foot drift in my back yard, or do you mean being stuck in the house for 3 days? I'm north from Buffalo. I never seen snow like this. It's heavy as wet snow but it's not wet, like ice in the mix.
I've noticed that a lot of the footage is from the last Storm to happened in buffalo. Which is the snow lightning and car on fire. Is this all from the last Storm?
It would be cool if people would start digging deeply into weather modification. This may or may not be weather modification but people need to know if it was! The fact that it is never mentioned is quite unsettling.
Hey I just want to say thanks to you and all the other cars that were driving around during the driving ban so that all our first responders and emergencies workers have had to risk their lives and often get stuck themselves checking on people who shouldn't have been out in the first place.

Yeah, I saw that thumbnail years ago. Lol. Jk. I know you can't get footage from a storm that hasn't happened yet. I'm just outside the city. Crazy drifts from the high winds. 10ft in some places bare pavement in others.
Hello from sunny San Diego.
Yes i have a.few years back when the ice storm hit in winter... Froze everything
Praying for everyone 🙏
Thanks Daisy
I'm in Amherst. The plows haven't made it over quite yet. I think they're focused on the main roads like the Blvd which I live directly behind. So my neighbor decided to dig themselves out of their driveway only to get stuck down the street for like 2 hours and once they dug out came right back home. They were literally at the corner 😆 my daughter's friend car is in our driveway because she was supposed to go out of town now we get to use her and her crew to dig us out 🤓
Winter is Brutal in some places . We used to Live in upstate NY. We move to freezing Cold WI ;)
I pray for every soul...see you happy soon!!!
Só sorry from Brazil. I've got relatives in NY Take care y'all friends.
There is nothing like the Great Lakes!
Man, that ice-covered car on the waterfront, what a bummer.
I Hope everyone in your country will recover.
140 days from the first snowfall, the weather gets warmer. Same thing year after year. No big deal. 😁
Two terrible snow events in Buffalo so far this winter. Praying for all that have to work in all that awfulness.
I'm in the Capital Region we get snow but nothing as bad, one thing that makes a difference driving in the snow is having good snow tires with studs.
And we moan about the rain in the UK.
I sincerely hope the weather gets better for you all very soon.
Stay safe.
That's crazy I lived in Wisconsin and don't remember anything like that
“Blizzard conditions” - Understatement of The Year Award (it’s only December, got a lot of winter left to go yet)
Amazing.
Should people be out and driving in these hazardous conditions?
You mean the 5 foot drift in my back yard, or do you mean being stuck in the house for 3 days? I'm north from Buffalo. I never seen snow like this. It's heavy as wet snow but it's not wet, like ice in the mix.
Yes I seen it like this
It happen to me in 2011
Whole car covered in 1/4 inch ice except for windshield and small circle above hood.
1:04 lmao that Lancer could just drive anyways.
Yup!
in Cleveland Ohio on Lake Erie.
Don't Move Here--The Weather Sucks!
Как красиво и снежно... Здравствуй зима и рождество
BRING IT ON !
That car covered in ice is from a previous storm, by the way.
I've noticed that a lot of the footage is from the last Storm to happened in buffalo. Which is the snow lightning and car on fire. Is this all from the last Storm?
But this is NUTS!
I don't miss the winters in western New york....the people are great though.
Nice music 🌹
Thanks for listening

It would be cool if people would start digging deeply into weather modification. This may or may not be weather modification but people need to know if it was! The fact that it is never mentioned is quite unsettling.
Call Greta to go there.
Hey I just want to say thanks to you and all the other cars that were driving around during the driving ban so that all our first responders and emergencies workers have had to risk their lives and often get stuck themselves checking on people who shouldn't have been out in the first place.
