This is the kind of thing that needs to be shown when history classes talk about the nukes drop on Hiroshima. It took me and many other classmates some outside research to realize how devastating and horrific they were and I think that needs to be shown when they are discussed.
yes it was very devastating but don't use this as a reference, in the beginning the guy said that the bomb he simulated was 100x the one dropped on Hiroshima.
Right? In my classes it was taught as a debatable thing. Necessary/not necessary. It was obviously not necessary. They just wanted to try out their new fancy weapon.
@@bruh-lo5yy The first bombs were primitive, maybe 12-15 kilotons. Current bombs (using the fission bomb to kickstart a fusion reaction) are rated in megatons, so, yep, they're two orders of magnitude worse. Civilian population reduction isn't a typical goal. Usually it's command destruction or war effort elimination; bases and ports where navies are built and stored. "What a strange game; the only way to win is not to play." still holds true.
@Sebastian Valentine I used to think so too, then I realised the US could have dropped the bombs in rural areas of Japan to show what they COULD do to a city, not to actually do it..

Can I just say, completely ignoring the actual content, this video is one of the best made videos I have ever seen. The quality of the video, and all the effort you put in, allows for everything to be easily understood.
Content is important. The title is "nuclear blast". "A nuclear explosion is an explosion that occurs as a result of the rapid release of energy from a high-speed nuclear reaction". Blasts can be created with non-nuclear weapons. If the yield is comparable then the same destruction would be created. It's unlikely that many people would die because of being exposed to small amounts of radiation, they're more likely to die because of stress and lack of infrastructure. Nuclear weapons are not dangerous. People are dangerous. We haven't stopped using dynamite despite its ability to take lives. Stop advocating for a ban against nuclear weapons and advocate against war if you really want to prevent situations like in the video. So you manage to prevent a country from getting nuclear materials, they'll just spend resources on building non-nuclear weapons or worse, bio. All banning people from having something does is create resentment. If you can't have healthy relationships with people then maybe you're the one who shouldn't have any weapons. This video is very misleading. Absolute clickbait.
An extremely well produced explanation of a nuclear scenario. This short is packed with critical details. I advise the makers of this film to send ,via any platform , to all nuclear capable countries. Thank you for your work

If you in the zone of 20 psi shock-wave (for 800kt surface detonation this would be the radius of 2 km), which levels concrete buildings, yeah even going to a basement or underground shelter gives only slight chances of survival. However, for the zone of 5 psi shock-wave (2 - 4.25 km), this is really like dealing with a powerful tornado. Crawling under a desk or bed even not the first choice, is not entirely that stupid, especially considering chances are that's all there might be time for. It won't protect you from the destructive blast, if you are lucky it might offer some hope for collapse though. In any case for sure, it is better than nothing. I wish someone would make a video like this with a 20 megaton device because they do exist and will be used in WW3, include the EMP. The Tsar Bomba was 57 megatons. A little known fact about hydrogen bombs is that there is no upper limit to how powerful they can be, like there is with the usual atomic bombs. You just have to keep adding more layers. They could easily make 50 megaton bombs and use them on all of our major cities.
They wouldn’t use 20 megaton bombs on cities or anything they’re not trying to kill as many people as possible. They’re just trying to limit infrastructure and also a 20 megaton bomb is too big to fit on the end of a missile and isn’t their main prerogative the only way I would see them using a weapon that large is the targeting positions of power or high-level military bunkers but besides if they’re targeting cities, they’re targeting hospitals positions of power refineries and factories if a nuclear war breaks out, they’re trying to limit the blowback even though I don’t see what the point is they’re trying to limit blow back towards them so the biggest bombs will be used on missile silos submarines positions of power and anything that you can use against them
And also it’s not about how big the bomb is is about how you deliver it yeah you can make it 100 megaton bomb but that things gonna be way too heavy to deliver by missile so the only way bomber and no bomber specially with modern technology is going to make it anywhere near any major city
and a lot of nations has them. some nations have thousands and thousands of them and maximum 50 would be enough to cause a nuclear winter. that pretty much means the end of civilization on this planet.
Daniel Wong you know I don’t feel safer either when America and it’s “allies” have nuclear weapons, ready to commit war crimes by the leadership of a populist reactionary or an unreliable politician. We need to get rid of WMDs all together in the safest way possible. The thought of using a nuclear weapon is beyond satanic therefore we should not be even having them all together. I understand nukes serve as a warning to unstable nations that own them as well but there needs to be a better way that ensures all sides do not have nukes
It’s simply because they can’t build a mouse trap but if they were able to that would mean they would also be able to kill each other for food and shelter. Survival is a primitive instinct.

Being detectable by radar isn't of concern with regard to ICBM's since no technology exists that can intercept and neutralize warheads that have already separated from their booster. The fact that everyone has it means that this world is faced with 2 equally possible realities: 1. The world’s people, horrified at what power nuclear weapons hold, vow to never use them, though countries indefinitely hold them on standby, clutching onto them as leverage for influence and power, and the world exists as a warless place on a grand scale, only having covert dealings and political games as we realize we will never use the one thing we should never have invented. 2. The above statement fails, and in a last, all-or-nothing gambit for power, someone (it could be anyone) fires a nuclear weapon, and , due to the entangled web of politics, treaties and alliances, all other weapons instantly fire, and, as a result, the world is instantly eradicated through the sheer impact of all weapons going off at once, resulting in what is very likely the end of mankind and perhaps most, if not, all life on the planet. Depressing when you really think about it....

You are looking at wiped out infrastructure and an overwhelming number of desperate and damaged and traumatized people. Look at poor Beirut this summer and that was like a small nuke but without the radiation and toxicity of a nuke. Yet it still took the effort of a lot of specialists in the whole region to try to avert a major humanitarian crisis and they could not do it...there was bitter rioting for months after....many people lost everything. They will never be the same. These massive weapons are horrific to even think about...yet threats to use them are made often...hopefully they never are because burning and killing a whole cities worth of human beings is Satanic.

yes it was very devastating but don't use this as a reference, in the beginning the guy said that the bomb he simulated was 100x the one dropped on Hiroshima.

There is an online tool allowing calculating zones for different strength warheads:

Not “hundreds of times”.

What are these two objects?

Being detectable by radar isn't of concern with regard to ICBM's since no technology exists that can intercept and neutralize warheads that have already separated from their booster. The only remotely viable means of stopping such an attack would be during the boost phase or possibly in the orbital phase of flight prior to weapon separation from the booster. However, to my knowledge, that has never been achieved.

@lopindoosherfl click on it it's safe really good information to learn.
The fact that everyone has it means that this world is faced with 2 equally possible realities:
The genie is out of the bottle. There is no way to reduce the risk of nuclear war.
jesus, this video is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time...
edit: omg i meant beautiful as in "beautifully animated in 3D"! Nothing about the action of detonating a nuclear bomb is beautiful in any way.

“Mankind invented the atomic bomb, but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap.”
~ Albert Einstein ~
KUAROO Yes, and of course it was Einstein’s letter urging Roosevelt to authorise the research project, written out of fear the Nazis might get there first, that led to construction of the atomic bomb.
The Xenomorphian The scientists creating the atomic bomb knew its effects, as they can be predicted scientifically, and were the reason why the bomb was researched and built. Einstein knew first hand what he was talking about when he said the above quote. The trouble being that in a conflict situation both sides are led to the worst case scenario with the inevitability of game theory logic.
Damn never thought how that would be equivalent then again coming from a cousin marrier
Mice cannibalize their babies. They are their own mousetrap. Death and killing is as much a part of nature as is birth and living. It's a malthusian existence. As humans, we just have ethos, pathos, and egos.

And the truly sad bit is that most of the people who die wouldn't have anything to do with whatever petty war their governments are fighting.
Yeah I don't get it why yell and fight with your armies killing innocent people just because your too scared to throw hands yourself
Paranoia, selfishness, disagreement, pride, ignorance, interest, belief, thirst for power and desire to increase territory.
Governments in the past brew war because of their own interests, stating that this war will either give bountiful rewards or end an ongoing conflict. In the contrary, it will only drain resources due to prolonged warfare.
Less resources, higher demand.
Some people are ignorant or chooses to take a blind eye, while others try to reason and prevent this from happening. In the end, the people who caused this chaos will only find trauma and not peace after the dusts of war have settled- realizing that their decision was wrong and many innocent lives were taken for their ambitious desires.
In the midst of war, morality is abandoned and all that's left is bloodshed. People who think that war is all fun and games have not yet found the value of a life until they are met with a life-threatening situation.

@@ereynolds72 Indeed, I guess a few people likes violence more than their own lives. I hoped that they learn that kill = bad because you're basically killing you're own people.
@Bobert Wiltshire its not einstein who build atomic bomb. Its a team lead by Oppenheimer who works from einstein famous equation e=mc^2. But he (oppenheimer) feels devastated after knowing what his creation can do. You can search on youtube to see how depressing life-less when oppenheimer talks about the bomb
