man.. hip hop in Vaporwave/Barber Beats.. dont know if this is first ive heard it, or first ive noticed, but i love it. And damn it's so familiar but i cant put my finger on it.. @ 50:32 on-- what is that sample? Gangstarr? Pete Rock?
The sample is Austin Reynolds - Tranquility (Exclusive Technarchy Remix) an ambient dnb/jungle track from 1995, all the samples from this album are based on 90's drum n' bass tracks, so I technically remixed a remix lmao
@@OpalVessel Hmmm, ok, so it's that piano bit at around 5:19 in the Austin Reynolds remix.. but, man, slowed down as you have it here it sounds like a super familiar hip hop track. Weird!
@@cornhustlah yeah you can get some really interesting results out of flipping dnb and jungle tracks, those artists sampled drum breaks from funk songs from like the 70s and speeded them up and put ambient melodies over them and when you slow those drum breaks back down it becomes this interesting mix of sounds
Now, I wouldnt dream of making anything ressembling music. But having listened to 50k + tunes in my life, I am confident in my critique skills. In my opinion, not all your albums are made equal, some of them are rather noisy or chaotic. This is one of your more solid work. Balanced, well "sewn" together. Very agreeable to listen to in the AM with a coffee or in the evening after dinner. Thumbed up and recommended to my mates. Its a pitty your work is not more recognized than this.
Thank you! I'm originally a harsh noise artist who also plays in beatdown hxc and skramz bands so I purposefully try to bring my heavier/noisy side into vaporwave because it's something not very many people do, but yeah I also do stuff like this lol, I try to define this project as "multi-genre vaporwave" so i don't get pigeonholed into a specific genre, like a lot of people will call me a barber beats artist who makes other stuff too but to me I simply just make vaporwave music, some of it is just gonna sound way different than others
