I was using just a Zoom H4N for my speaking audio with additional mics on the Bass and Snare to capture drums. Now I've upgraded to an R16, so when I get that going the drum quality should be a little bit better.
Sorry. There is a lot more to it than this. I guess I should back that up with a video myself, but I can tell you this guy doesn't really have the hand strength to pull off fast, even doubles around the kit/toms. Sorry. I've got better things to do but go on the internet & criticize, but this is not it. Kids/students: Practice doubles on the toms. Play 5's, 7's, etc... Play LL RR BD as a 5. Play it straight, play it as a triplet. Move it around. Play it 3 over 4. I think what I did for a while is take the head off of an old school Remo practice pad, and laid a cut up sock under the head, then tightened it back down. I practiced all my rudiments on that stupid thing (not all the time of course - maybe 20%). Ha!
Nice lesson! Check out the Paul Cappazoli books as well: Around the drums with open rolls, around drums with triplets, and around drums with 16th's.
The H4N will cover everything. I've done some pretty clean band recordings using just that. It's super easy to use and has a built in compressor.
Thank you Sir

agree, not being a rudiments "nazi" but what he show is not a bad start really.
I replace the camera audio with the Zoom audio in Final Cut.
