That is going to be my first setup as well, problem is I have to buy the goggles first and let them set, or buy the drone first and wait on the goggles. I guess if I buy the drone from Banggood first it would come in two weeks and then I could Amazon order the goggles for the least amount of wait time...lol
As far as tests we'd want to see: 1. VAS Cyclops 2. TrueRC 4 pack Singularity Stubbies for DJI 3. TrueRC X-Air patches for DJI (single and dual) 4. You on a race course with DJI in competition!
I've been thinking about this but it would be hard to show via DVR what I'm seeing since the system seamlessly drops the bad frames from the recording... I'll think on it!
The patch antenna on the commander is oriented towards the ground while pointing diagonally upwards on the dji. Maybe that's why the image of the dji looks so much better. But still a good test. Thanks!
Your videos have been great while I wait to fly my DJI build this weekend lol. How is the Ethix strap compared to the stock one? was already thinking about swapping it out. Thanks!
And this was all before the 50mbps bump that doubled bandwidth! lol PS I have the same Aomway goggles and QX7 transmitter as you. Good gear for its age! 😎🤘 Thanks for the great video!
Is it possible to add OSD into DJI goggles? Because in analog version I can see battery voltage etc... And in digital version I can see only video without informations...
I've seen a couple videos now stating that when you have Dynamic power turned on, the full 700mw isn't achieved when set to the 700mw setting. They've turned that off (you'll want to get in the air fairly fast, you'll be pumping out 700mw on the ground) and then the output pumped out at 700mw. Maybe something to try to see if it makes the 700mw experience even better.
Thanks for doing this test, really interesting. By the way there is a video out there about setting an option in the goggles to get 700mw at all times. The option is called 'power something', and its located directly below the mw setting in the goggles. Set the power option to off and it basically forces the 700mw all the time. I have one more curious question for those people who use a gopro for recording footage. Most people use a ND filter to smooth things out, I wonder how the footage will look with a ND filter on the DJI system. DJI sells a lens protector, might be able to attach a ND filter. There is footage on youtube of someone flying this dji system at night... looks like day.
Aomway Commander v1 googles are single analog gogles I owned which I decided to keep after moving to DJI googles as my main googles. The rest have no use :)
Pretty impressive stuff indeed! Be careful that most analog video transmitters don't necessarily output the RF power that they should on all channels and bands, it can be lower or higher depending on the band and channels, it has been demonstrated couple of times in the past... Happy midweek and keep on having fun :)
This may be a dumb question, but I am new to FPV. What is the difference between 25 milliwatts and 700 milliwatts? Why would you choose one or the other?
oh wow, I was waiting for your HD quad to do the same test which is just going a little above the tree but you didn't do it :( that's sad. Oh cool, I continued watching, it was great on 700mw.

We've been FPVin' at nite with IR LEDs (high powered) lately...due to shorter daylight...plus it's a frickin kick with a little sketchy mixed in 😎
Awesome test and review! I'm not sure I see the stuttering you mention with the 25mw DJI. But either way they are impressive, especially with the 700mw....
After uploading it I realize the stuttering wouldn't be as present in the footage cause we're dealing with dropped frames. To me flying it presents as freezing but in the footage a missed frame here or there goes unnoticed.
@@Furadi yeah, that's what I was thinking. Which in a way is a negative but expected. If they could fix that so no drops in pilots view.... Oh yeah.... Haha!

A couple questions: In your experience, 1) should I get the dji digital or wait for other systems?, 2) can you pair a mobile phone to dji goggles so another person sees what I see?, 3) would you recommend the dji transmitter/controller or get another brand? thank you!
@@dv2045 : For a new FPV pilot I would recommend the DJI FPV system, including the controller. It is the most powerful and potentially, the most capable, system out there. Hi there Fergus! There are situations where you have to limit power like in racing. Typically in racing we use 25mw to allow more drones in the air. The higher the power the more interference you have to deal with.
Nice work Conrad, only thing people will “judge” is the 200/700mw comparison. So it’s not really apples to apples. I take it you use the same RF control link in both setups? Hey bro great vid, watch Huito fpv bando vid he's french but subtitles best dji test..he commented below too. gonna try 4 stubby lollipops first Hugo truerc says 4 axi stubbys give a 50% range increase so lollipops should be close
To get double the distance of a VTX's range, one must boost the power up 4x. I think the digital system is not bound by this rule as much due to the latency compensation. If you can tolerate 40ms latency, then this system is the best you can get. Wish I had the 1k to drop on this. I dont want to use their controller though.
I would assume the disparity between DJI 25mw and analog 25mw is down to QC. Most, if not all, analog vtx's that I've seen tested on 25mw range anywhere from 30mw-50mw depending on the channel. I'd assume that DJI's 25mw is ACTUALLY 25mw if not slightly lower. This keeps them in regulation. BUT probably part of the reason that 700mw is just so much better is that the Air Unit is actually capable of the max power it claims. Unlike literally every single analog vtx that exists.
@@adroc9841 You can't leave open ports on the goggles because they transmit. It's as close a comparison as you're gonna get. Normally I run 2 pagodas on the bottom so running the stock antennas was actually the most fair way to do it.

Good question. With traditional analog higher power causes problems like bleed over, reflection and interference. Thats why in racing the max power is 25mw. If it were higher less pilots would be able to race because there would be more interference. But the DJI system doesn't have those weaknesses so it might be feasable to just run it at 700mw all the time.
