Finger crossed, have not had any close calls yet and had completed a 384 square feet deck and a beautiful backyard cabin with that Miter Saw. It's still waiting for the next project. Check out my other videos for all the projects that were completed using the miter saw.
As for the not wanting to measure it a 2x6’s actual size is roughly 1.5”x5.5” so as long as you keep that in mind it saves you time from having to hold and scribe every post
I have nobody to teach me so everything I do is the “crazy” way. I’m learning things on the spot working solo at work and when I google something and the tutorial is 2 hours I don’t have time so I figure it out. I do this with a CIRCULAR SAW and no clamps! It’s so sketchy but I’m steady with the hands and haven’t had a bind up yet
I know it works for you. but very dodgy. that timber is so free moving and the blade could snatch at any time. and who knows what the outcome could be... dangerous
Have completed a 384 square feet deck and a beautiful backyard cabin and zero days of injury. The miter saw is still in the garage waiting for the next project. Happy Labor's Day weekend to you and yours and stay safe.
@@ifagalz Wow, best 5 dollars ever spent! I bought a cheap, British-made compound mitre for only £60 and i'm very happy with it so far, only been a few weeks though.
@@GaryMcKinnonUFO, couldn't be more happier. The old man I bought it from his garage sale was my neighbor when I was still in school. Thank you everyone for commenting on this video. It's true I made it to show you what not to do. But at the same time I want to share that poor people like myself find different ways to work with limited resources like wearing flip flops and using a $5 miter saw and a crow bar instead of steel toe shoes, a bandsaw and chisels and still do it safely. It was April 6th, 2018 when I uploaded the video and have finished a 384 square feet deck; fully permitted by the city, and currently in the process of completing a 200 square feet backyard cabin using the same $5 miter saw. I've recently purchased and upgraded my tools to include a table saw. Please visit my gallery to see the completed product. www.ifagalz.com/2018-backyard-project/
Sell that bloody saw before you end in ER or worse the kick back from that saw the way you are cutting that wood can snap your arm like a twig. I have $5 waiting for you

I'm not gonna talk smack, I've totally done it. A steady firm af grip coupled with a fear and respect for the saw... Of course someone could walk up on you unexpected and distract/spook you, then ya might be in trouble.
Cmon man, you are seriously going to put your thumb next to the blade while its cutting... AT LEAST hold a longer piece of scrap wood or something to brace the post youre cutting. Scrap wood is cheap. Your thumb is forever

So many thing wrong. First, 2 carriage bolts would have sufficed, no notching necessary. Treated wood cuts needs to be retreated. Your way is not only crazy but less durable. Don't put the post directly in the dirt, pour some concrete. If you think this has more lateral shear strength, just wait the rotting and we'll see what shear strength your post has.

You bought a DeWalt miter saw for $5?! You should make videos on how you find the best deals ever if so. :)
Hehe. I forgot where I bouht this saw from... lol
Can I come with you next time you go car booting
AS SKETCHY AS IT IS, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT BECAUSE I JUST LIKE TO KNOW OTHER WAYS OF DOING IT. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. 👍
been watching lots of videos of people using miter saw, but this is the first time i saw this sort of approach to miter saw. stay safe sir.
Nice cut. And it's great that you got a really good brand of miter saw for such a cheap price they really must have wanted to get rid of everything.
After a few close calls, I have a healthy dose of respect for my 12” miter saw...aah nope.

You can do this safely with a miter saw...just use a spacer aka block of wood to prevent blade from cutting too far up the post.
As for the not wanting to measure it a 2x6’s actual size is roughly 1.5”x5.5” so as long as you keep that in mind it saves you time from having to hold and scribe every post
Hey is that saw capable of cutting straight through 4x4?
Yes sir. It can surely do that, no problem
Jesus loves you. ( just thought there should be at least one positive comment on this video. )
😂😂😂😂
Project completed with all limps intact. Amen.
Very considerate of you N Smith.
Jesus is the truth! As for the cut, I'll allow it. Fear the Lord not a worldy DeWalt saw
love it
3:38 to get straight to the point

He said he's lazy. Makes me wonder how many years he spent building his deck?
Probably less than a week. Doesn’t look lazy to me at all
Don’t do this, but here’s a video on exactly how to do it!! 😂. Nice work though a lot more sturdy will last a lifetime

5 dollars for a dewalt, nice catch!

The split inside the joint will trap a lot of moisture unnecesarily. Even with ground contact wood you should avoid those.

You must be trolling, unless you teach security practices with a miter saw and looking for the stupidest to do with one
Why not just clamp it down and use the depth stop to notch the post out??
Looks safe to me.
Why did you need a 1/2 lap? You could just use a couple 3/8 lags to do that job, W/O lapping it..It'll hold.
Flip flops? Really?
Hating on my flip flop? Hehehe. It's an example of what not to do. I am still kicking and enjoying that beautiful deck now. Saved $13,000.00.

Guilty Flip flops and circuler saw
I bought a bandsaw for 15.00 does it nicer and safer.
Yeah no.
$5.00 that saw is probably stolen
You fucking genius

If it is crazy dangerous...why show it? There are enough senseless people out there to try it...with resulting tragedy.

Maybe just sold by a widow whose husband died.
Whose wife died. lol
At least you admit you're crazy.
“Perfect right?” - eh not really
Jesus christ do NOT use these techniques on a mitre saw...no matter how "lazy" you are. Learn to use power tools properly and respect their power
