I only feature products I like, or want to try. The products I use in these videos are either purchased by me or sent to me by make-up companies to use in my professional capacity as a make-up artist for fashion and celebrity photo shoots, red carpet etc. I am also sent products by many of the top magazines to judge for awards.

She don't talk enough! I could listen to her talk for days - she's so soothing! When I'm sad I'll watch a Lisa video and it's like she's got a comforting arm around your shoulder.
yes I should you're right. This video is quite old now, although the tips are still relevant x
I'm not Lisa but what I've noticed is that when the foundation is water based (Chanel Lumiere or Benefit Oxygen) she will use her hands because she wants to 'feel it' and some foundations she finds work better when the hands warm them. But for some foundations - cream ones or thicker ones - I've seen her use a sigma round top kabuki, a chanel #6 or a no7 foundation brush (the last two look like painters brushes). It must be preference. She always says use a brush if you like. :)
Ooh, this video's almost at it's 10 year anniversary! Only 11 days away.
Thanks 🤩 I am learning so much from you,Lisa🧚 You are unique ✨
I just noticed; you look so much like Monica Belucci (Malena) in this video. Absolutely stunning!
And thank you so much for all your videos and recomendations. Thanks to you I found Nuxe lipbalm and Bioderma Sensibo and they really are amazing.
I could watch your videos all day Lisa. Thank you 😊
I love you lisa eldidge! thank you so much for your informative, no- nonsense, easy to watch and understand, pro- tip- filled videos!
I'm currently trying to get into makeup here in nyc and am starting to build my kit with the basics like skin care mostly, and then some foundations. (good?) I've been wondering, when dealing with models, what kinds of foundations do you keep stocked considering you have no idea what skin type you'll be working with that day? Should I be working towards every skin tone shade in every skin type's product?! is that the goal?!?!
@InbetweenTheReality thanks for clearing that up and thanks for watching x
I've seen this video a few times. So simple, but yet here I am years later reminded that makeup is (for me) to just enhance our natural beauty.. not make me unrecognizable.
It all depends on how you use it, really. If you kind of "rub" it on with the brush it gives you sheer coverage, but if you stipple it then it provides a very full coverage :)
The brush she's using here is the Boots No7 Foundation brush.
@CatSchmid They are both good but I find that I can find my exact shade in Chanel pro, not quite in the Dior. This is very important, so my preference is for Chanel. Also the Nude is a little more hydrating too - so good for skin which dehydrated/dry and less combo/oily.
@MakeupmeGP me too ... I do miss Pro. Perfection is gorgeous but completely different. I'm wearing it today actually and really do like it now that i've got used to it. Its finish is much matter, almost velvety and soft and the coverage is a little lighter but you can still build it (as you could with pro). In many ways Perfection is much more user friendly as it takes a lot less blending etc. Try to get a sample from your nearest counter x
@katefons no it has a luminous feel...so matte but with optical blurrers to create a sheen x
@whitalisci0us if you are really oily go for the matte lumiere. I'm oily to combination so I prefer the pro. Sometimes in the summer when my skin is oilier than usual I'll use Matte
Thank you for this!!!! I just subscribed to you and I love your videos. Your voice is so soothing and your lighting is good. You don't have a distracting background and you focus on what needs to be said. What a relief to have found you.
I really love your before and after side-by-sides. if you could do that always, it would be awesome!
@debbick1 yes you are spot on @InbetweenTheReality, videos take quite a few hours to process out and even longer to become fully HD. Check back later. Thanks for watching x
The only foundation I use is the Diorskin nude, and Lisa is right, foundation will most definitely not cause spotting if you use a good, quality one. In my case, this foundation has improved my skin's overall texture!
As for the brush part, I really like the MAC 190 which is lovely for blending in liquid foundations such as the aforementioned; though I'm kind of crazy about the MAC 187, too. Lisa, you've been a hero to so many of us novices, thank you so much, beautiful lady!
You are the first makeup artist who advises choosing a foundation color that matches the skintone of the neck and check. This makes so much sense because I always look like I have dark mask on my face. Even the premier cosmetic counters at Neiman Marcus or Barneys have never match color like you. I will try your suggestion next time I buy my foundation.
@debbick1 no problem :) One of the things I find most annoying is trying to wait 'patiently' whilst my videos are processing x
Hi Lisa
I have been one of your subs for a while and I am re-visiting some of your older vids, both here and the other channel.
Even when I've seen one of your vids previously, I always get a reminder from you on a better way to do something or I realise I have become complacent in some areas.
This is just a HUGE thank you from someone who is no one on YT but you make a massive difference to my makeup choices and regime and therefore have a really positive affect on my life.
Donna xoxo
Love your videos, so helpful! Thanks Lisa :)
I think your advice about matching foundation based on areas of discolouration is brilliant; it makes so much sense. Many thanks for the information, please do make more lots more videos.
@katey0787 if you want to change the colour of your skin use something really thin like a tinted moisturiser so the difference will not be too dramatic around the edges (and its easier to blend sheer). There is a new Dior one I used for the first time on a bronzing editorial for Glamour the other day and its phenomenal. Its call pro youth skin tint and is part of the skincare range. Its expensive but it made the model look beautifully glowy without looking fake/too orange
Thanks Lisa, I have more than 10yrs make up experience everyday but found my technique was so wrong, thanks so much for your sharing and now I could enjoy make up with better effect.
Your videos are great! Keep them coming.
Great video! Thank you for sharing Lisa
@MissAichaa do you have Boots? Only there is a really good new foundation by No7 for oily/blemish skin coming out in January ...its called beautifully Matte x
i absolutely adore all your advice (:
Your skin profile is so similar to mine. I must say, I thoroughly enjoy how much you explain every aspect of the science behind makeup. Thanks! You have helped me tremendously with my makeup application.
You are now my #1 Best Makeup Guru here in RUclips! You are really good in explaining and has a good personality. I hope you can do some makeup workshops! :)
Best makeup tutorials on RUclips. I am unsatisfied with how my makeup looks on camera when filming my fitness workout tutorials for RUclips. Hope I can learn something from Lisa. =)
@rosewitch2000 did you try any of the MUFE HD shades they have some good ones. its hard for me to say without seeing you though...go for a shade which is halfway between your face and neck shade maybe that way the foundation will blend in better and look more natural against your neck x
@arian019 yes sure, if your skin is really good then why not x
@november626 I really like it...you dont need too much. I use it in my purple smoky eye video X
You helped me so much thank you!
Hi Lisa, you look fabulous in yours 47 years same problems on my skin, like you. My skin don’t correspond to my age 54…
I’m the target consumer for this foundation
Vitalumiere is intended to leave a dewy, moist finish, and on this point it delivers. It has a sheer (but somewhat buildable) coverage that was its first drawback: It did not cover minor skin imperfections (slight discoloration, uneveness of tone). I built up two layers and had to use more concealer than I normally would.
your videos are so helpful
@NeYo015 I havent tried it yet although I've heard some good things x
thank you so much! this really helped.
you are amazing..love watching your videos..you give awsome tips :)
@romosweethearrt I like it although I do like the 'light' version better than the original x
Hi LIsa, love your help! I had pro luminer for years, now I switched to Perfection Lumiere. Please do an update to chanel foundations and maybe comparables to these. thanks, Mary.
wonderful videos, such great practical advice :)
You are simply amazing . That all i want to say. thanks
im CRAAAZY about ur videos !
sooo helpfull ! it changes the way i think about make up !
thanx bubblegarm coz u told us about lisa,
and lisa: we love u soo much so keep it up and THANX !
@monkeydance09 foundation should help with that, you may need a little more coverage than you are currently using. MUFE HD foundation could be good for you as it has good coverage and you only need to apply small amount. You may need to use concealer on top to conceal the redness along your jawline (under the apples of your cheeks). Its hard to say without seeing you though x
:)
That's exactly the same question I wanted to ask you about.
I've never used a brush before but now I'm thinking about buying one. The problem is that no one has never really told me about the types (whether to choose a flat-topped one or the one you used in your tutorial - perhaps both?)
I'm a big fan of you, your wok and your tips so your explanation would mean a lot to me.
Thanks for all, Lisa!
Hi Lisa, is there anything you would recommend for skin that has lots of texture from acne or dryness?
Hi Lisa..Bubblegarm's blog post brought me here...your tutorials are really good..so detailed and informative. Please do make more tutorials :)..Thanks!!
Lol... I've just sat here doing something else with your voice in the background, not even watching the video... I totally forgot it was even on, because your voice is SO inoffensive. (I know, I'm such a charmer!)
That was meant to be a compliment. (I am going to actually WATCH the video in a minute, btw! It wasn't boring!)
You're really good! I searched a long time for a good 'foundation vid' ...guess I finally found one.
And your accent and speaking makes it very easy for me to understand :)
btw. I'm german :p
Love-love-love your videos! Looking forward to see more of them.
And one question: Which foundation is better - Dior Nude or Chanel Pro Lumiere?
Thanks in advance!
@loserlovers thanks for the great comment x
So pretty ahhhhh
Really, really good tips! Very useful.
Thank you Lisa! You are wonderful. Best wishes:)
Greetings from Portugal XXXXxxxXXX
Nice tutorial
@tongone06 they can use powder with a puff to push it over the liquid foundation. or a primer that fills in pores, then use a liquid foundation. the concept is to use a product that can be used to fill in the pores without clogging up the pores. proper moisturizing and priming are key
Mac face and body body you really have to work it into the skin, Im a guy that wears very NATURAL looking makeup as well, the key is to either use a good brush or your fingers to blend and really work it into the skin so that it isnt noticeble
Hey Bro same here
@susyq83 ideally yes as its a bit of a breeding ground for bacteria otherwise. Do your best but if you find you cant every single day, its not the end of the world :) When you can, invest in a second brush... that way you can wash them together every couple of days. Lisa x
Hi Lisa, I would just like to you are so inspiring. I want to become a make-up artist when I'm older and all you advice may it be online articles, videos I've taken it on board and its given some great knowledge.
So Thank you
x
a video for very fair porcleain skins would be great no make up guru/artist has really attempted that topic yet. For ref im slightly paler than mac nc15. btw ur vids are sooo good and informative! Fab! xx
That would be so appreciated, Lisa! If you could maybe throw in a few tips for oilier, combinations skins (hispanic) in damp, tropical weather such as Costa Rica (think Miami). I find that formulations I´ve bought when I´m in the States, in dry weather act really different here at home with the humidity and sweat. I don´t like to cake on powder to manage it. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and extensive experience, and your voice is so kind and soothing, I enjoy your videos the more.
Haha, It's so funny, I feel like I've found my "skin soul-mate in a whiter version" , you have a combination skin and the color of your skin with the pigmentation and everything is almost exactly my skin's complexion except I'm darker! I love your videos, keep doing them, they are great and I would love to see what you would recommend as skin care for combination skin for under-eye cream, daily cream etc... Thank you for those amazing videos !
You could even out the darker areas with a pink colored concealer first and then carefully put on the foundation. Pink tends to remove the "grey" colour that usually appear on dark-skinned people.
@LittleIngenue I've often had the same problem with foundation for dry skin. I think the best thing to do is use a great moisturiser and then a good serum/moisturising primer to give 'normal' foundation a good base. That way you're making your skin feel good as well! Hope this helps!
Fantastic video! I'm so happy I found your channel. :)
Do you have to wash the foundation brush after every use?
Clinique Supermoisture is a great foundation for dry skin.
Do you have a video on your favourite Foundations for 2019?
love it
Hi Lisa, I just recently discovered your chanel, and think you are fantastic and really helpful especially this video on foundation. I always seem to buy a colour that is slightly too dark for my skin, but after seeing and hearing your advice I think I will be more confident in going out and buying a foundation. I used to use the chanel vitalumiere and was thinking of re purchasing it again.Could you advice me on another chanel foundation similar to this, i do have normal to dry skin.Thank you:)
I just found your videos and already I am learning a lot of great tips! My skin is oily combination, but in the winter it gets some dry patches that look even worse with foundation on them. Also, I am mild acne and very sensitive skin. What do you think would be a good light foundation? Thank you!
Can i ask, please, in what motion do you apply foundation with a sponge? and do you wet the sponge?
Hi Lisa, I love your videos. Could you do an undertone video? Cool, warm, neutral, how to decide which of it you have and choose the right colors, foundation... Would be a great help. Thanks. Annie.
me too. This is so random but i tried the Olay+Covergirl foundation for older people (wrinkled skin etc) and it works so amazing. ive tried a billion different kinds and they all look cakey then melt off because my skins so oily and I have huge pores you can see all over.... try it and see. if you dont like it you can bring it back to cvs no questions asked!
Hi Lisa, what's your opinion on cream foundations? Should I use a brush, fingers or a sponge?
Good day! Lisa, what would be your 5 top foundation picks for mature, combination/dry skin?
Hi Lisa, just discovered your videos and they are amazing, thanks so much! I have oily/comb skin like yourself so keen to try the chanel pro lumiere but i cant find a video about the powders you use? Any you would recommend for oily skin?
hi, I have normal to combination skin and the corner of my eyelids on the top are very very dry and struggle with applying concealer and eyeshadow. do you have any advice please? thank you 😊
@daemmerung19919 yes...see my 'purple smoky eye' tutuorial to see me apply it and hear my views x
I am so glad I found you! But angry that i didn't find you sooner.
Hi Lisa,
could you please recommed some foundation for dry/normal skin, I'm really finding it hard to pick one at the moment as the skin around the nose is very dry and all the foundations i try keep trying just bring attention to it. loving your vid's xx
It would be very rude to say to a legendary top makeup artist but I love her natural skin more than her face even with skillful makeup. Gorgeous olive. healthy and youthful looking skin. God so beautiful. If I were a lesbian or a guy, I would stare at her face all day every day.
what I love about the channel is that I see her sincerity, seriousness, or humbleness. I cannot help seeing vanity, arrogance, or some kind of negative human attribute in Most of the videos especially about makeup or fashion and have to stop following. I learned art since I was four so her analogy to painting is really easy to understand and resonate a lot. I don't make art after I got sick but now enjoy applying makeup on my face everyday instead of making a big painting.
Hi Lisa yours videos are very professional and I so glad that I found You on the You Tube. I have a quastion: I have combination - dry skin and I think about Chanel vitalumiere aqua Foundation maybe you have opinion about that foundation?
Hi Lisa, Just wanted to say that I went to Boots and the lovely lady there gave me a sample of the No7 beautifully Matte foundation and it is amazing..I really like it and think its very compairable to Estee Lauder's Doublewear but half the price...it is matte but not powdery looking .. hopefully they will work on some more shades..xx
Hi Lisa! LOVE your videos- recently discovered them and i think they're amazing!
I've got clear skin so want to use a foundation that's very natural looking but lightens redness areas. I use Bare Minerals but it looks a bit powdery and I really want that dewy effect. Ive been considering chanel vitalumiere aqua or the lancome idole ultra- do you have thoughts on either of them or are there any other foundation or tinted moisturizer products you recommend? Thanks so much in advance! Much love!
thank you so much im defiantly going to try it , and my skin is extremely oily too
stupid question but its two different foundations ?
Hey Lisa! I have very oily skin prone to blemishes. I was just wondering what Chanel foundation is best for oily skin? x
Hi Lisa, I love your videos. I recently purchased Rimmel Anti-Fatigue foundation that you used in one video and I LOVED IT. I went to re-purchase it today and it's completely gone. Do you know what happened to it? Where I can find it? or can you recommend a good (inexpensive) replacement? Thank you!
Dear Lisa, I found your channel recently and I absolutely love it! I am fairly new to make-up and you're such an inspiration. You are very classy and so talented. I would like to ask you for an advice. I would like to get my first foundation and hope you could recommend something. I would like to achieve this natural, flawless look. I am in my mid 20 and my skin is quite problematic (more on the dry side but it gets very shiny throughout the day). I'm looking for something good(any price) Thanks
great vid Lisa!
How would you recommend for the pressed powder foundation to be applied? I currently use the sponge it comes with, but is there a better or more efficient way of using this particular type of foundation?
I use Chanel Matt Lumiere.
Thank you again! ;)
this is very true i use dior hydrating foundation but i wana try the chanel pro luminier so many people say good things about it
Have you found Pro Lumiere to be suitable for photography? For example, bridal work?
Great vid thanks Lisa:) what do you think of the Jemma Kidd light as air foundation? I wanted to love the Chanel vitalumiere aqua, however I found it too matte and drying. Is the prolumiere more luminous?
I really enjoy watching your videos, always happy when I check my subscription box and see you uploaded a new one :))
what do u think it would be the best colour match for someone who's got darker neck, but face and chest are lighter, same colour?
Dear Lisa, what are some of your favorites for foundation? I think I have similar skin type to yours, somewhat combination skin, dry around the mouth area and cheeks but oily t-zone as the day progresses. I have been looking for the perfect foundation for me, but I feel many of the ones I try even though they are oil free kind of are a little too dewy, and the matte ones do not feel comfortable even if I apply a light layer. What do you suggest and what works for you?
Hello, Lisa!
Thank you for what are you doing! You are so much inspiring!
What is your opinion on BB creams and mineral cosmetics? Do you use them on your job?
Thank you!
hi lisa! love the brush you're using! what brush is that?
