    So cool. You can just walk down the stairs, put your fins on and walk in? Sure beats a traditional shore dive where you have to walk across a bunch of sand and try and get your fins on while floating in the water. I’m gonna go there soon for sure. Thanks for the video. Beautiful diving and nice clear water.

    Good video. I never realized how close Catalina was to the mainland.

      Yep! I was originally surprised that the channel
      Islands exist right there off the coast of Los Angeles. It somehow seemed a bit incongruous

      @@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes dang, this might be an obvious answer but what makes cave diving so dangerous?

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  2 года назад +1

      You don’t have the ability to just go up if you get into trouble which is a defining feature of recreational diving. Also the chance of kicking up silt, getting disoriented, and not finding your way out are non trivial

    How much were tank rentals, do they have options of steal or aluminum?

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  2 года назад

      We use a local shop with a tank subscription where it's $99 a year for 2 tanks a week steel or aluminum (depending on availability) Elsewhere it's usually $15+ a tank.

    That's a long day. You better not screw that relationship up.

    Some people stay in shelters or hostels instead of a stealth camp in the woods.

    Have you ever hiked the trans Catalina trail?

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  2 года назад

      Yep, a few years back. If you check my website (First Church of the Masochist Dot com) I have a map of the route we used. The current one on Guthooks actually cuts things to 30 some miles vs we did 60 some

    Lol I have a crazy fear of sharks, should I be worried If I swim there? I need to get my Diver's Certificate for my job but I can't get over those dang sharks.

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  Год назад

      Chances of even seeing a shark is very low and any sort of attack is almost statistically unheard of. Much riskier driving down to the beach
