Just found your channel and I'm enjoying. Great find on that Volvo with only 700k miles
Thanks Cash! Glad to hear you are enjoying it :)
Wow here I am thinking 700k miles on a truck is high
I've been driving for 3 months now, & am already contemplating being an owner operator. This is good insight, & I thank you for making this video!
CHEERS!!!
Thank you. I appreciate it. Good luck and keep on truckin!:)
Did you make the mov3?
Did you make the move??
Joel Williams Shaffer Trucking is hiring. Refer to James Larsen when applying. My husband is a Trainer also. Then you can eventually buy from them as well. Happy Trucking
@@msteresasangels Thanks Ms Teresa, but I wouldn't drive another truck if I had a gun to my head. Carriers, shippers, receivers & LEOs treat truckers like garbage. Companies like to charge drivers erroneous "fees" for whatever sounds good at the time. I was averaging $450 per week between Swift, US Express & Werner. They're all the same...
I'm going to say a prayer for all of you motivated drivers on these comments. You all are going to really see another side of the industry. Good luck and coming from a driver with 2 decades of paying for trucks the only way your going to learn is by sacrifice.
Amen!
i realize I am pretty off topic but do anybody know a good website to stream newly released series online ?
@Quinton Ayaan i watch on FlixZone. Just google for it =)
@Muhammad Brock yea, have been using FlixZone for years myself =)
@Muhammad Brock definitely, I have been using Flixzone for since march myself :)
I'm not here to go into the trucking industry. I'm here to buy a truck for me and my dad. He always wanted his own rig (he used to drive around the country running freight, but he left that job when I was born) but he could never afford to get his own truck. So I'm determined to buy him his own rig
Thank you! Great presentation, the mmm’s and uhm’s don’t bother me a bit, it let’s me know that your thinking and genuine. I’ve been a company driver four fourteen years and as soon as these truck prices come down, I’m going owner operator.
That Volvo with the green and yellow stripes is an old J.Bauer Trucking Volvo! I drive for them haha.
Good information man. I have a 2007 Volvo myself I am scared of trucks that are newer because of all the emission issues.
Great Truck. Keep it and take care of it. Thank you for watching
You can simply fully delete DEF-EGR and good to go.
2015 trucks have been better but at 700k and up miles the DEF-EGR will have a lot of soot build up.
I see that some companies don’t want the truck over 10 years old. I know Dart don’t want the truck older than 10 years. Do people prefer to purchase older trucks bc of the DEF. Can you please explain.
Nice looking truck, wish you good luck with your new blue buddy.
Thanks Alex!
Thanks 🙏 very value information God bless you Driver
I drive a 17 mid roof, the two roll out windows are great. Would not want a truck without them unless there was an APU.
Thanks for putting out this information bro. Im in the process of buying my first truck for regional/ local work, Any recommendations on dealership in Illinois?
Where do we we find info on what specs match the work we plan to do? Also where can I information on the reliability of the various components i.e. engine, transmission, emissions etc.?
Thank you for this information
Pre def, good on ya. Good luck with the 160 different sensors.
Hey truck yoo I’m just find your channel and it’s great..I’m planning to buy a used Volvo truck can you help me with any suggestions if that’s ok for you ?
Angelo CEO Learn as much as you can. Knowing your truck and understanding how much emmision standards will cost you is key. Learn, learn, learn
What would be the best specs for hauling "Freight of al kinds" dry van and "produce/food" reefer? What would be your personal suggestion?
great info, thx!
Just found your channel. This is exactly the kind of info that sets a future buyer on the right track.
Maybe you could punctuate your videos with a few relevant stills or clip examples of topic... that'll break it up a bit. Do work on the "uhhs and ahms". Otherwise, enjoyed the presentation. It was cool and informative. Keep going. Subscribed.
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. Definitaly working on my uhhs and ahms:) Thank you for watching
Hows it going being a operator
@@TruckYoo is it worth it being a owner operators
I like your videos man. Just a question. Is a 2009 Volvo with a Cummins ISX with an Eaton 10 speed transmission. Agood semi truck. And what would be a good price to buy it for?
okay so how would you know if a used truck has any defects? hidden defects that show up later on even if a mechanic took a look at the truck before you buy? Even with all the research and inspections on the truck do you think its a hit or miss?
What kind of gear ratios are good for like hauling rock not too long of local hauls like 75 miles?
I just found your channel and really appreciate the knowledge you drop on here. I'm about to get into trucking and intend to hire drivers and grow my fleet and really don't have a clue how these things go. Would you be able to provide mentorship for someone like me?
Did you start? If you did how is everything going?
@@bandido978 I bought my truck in December 2020 and got my authority since March 2021 but can't find a driver. Finding a good driver has been really tricky.
@@johnblogs6248 how is it going ? Did you able to find a good driver? Is it a good thing to get into a trucking business?
@@bandido978 sorry for late response, just seeing this. Going well. Thanks!

Hi there i hope u get to read this mess ., am going thru my cdl license., once i pass would i go and work for a company that has trucks and get the experience with there trucks and then few years later get my own ??? Wiuld you make a video about that please
How are these Volvos are they dependable vs a Pete or Freightliner Appreciate the Tips man
What kind of truck would be best for pulling rail containers ?
Thank for the information, I am looking to purchase my 1st truck
Congratulations Nyla! Definitely an exciting purchase :)
Get a 2007 or older if ur state or states u going not required egr, dpf, or Def.
Freyes 2017 thanks for the information I look for that
Thanks 4 the tips.
Thanks Ric! We just posted a new one that dives a little deeper with a checklist of things to get you started.
What's the best specs for doing general freight, I'd like to start with power only?
My 2006 Volvo with Cummins isx has 1.2M miles on it. I purchased the truck when it was at 825k. After 4 years still running great...currently I am looking to add another truck, a 2016 freightliner DD15 auto with 675k miles on it for 29k. I am not buying no warranty, I will use the money to do some work on the truck before sending it in the road. If the emission system begins to be a problem ,I will delete it...a lot of my friends have done it before and they staying out of a shop.
Milkesa Haile good job on the cummins! Did you have the rod bearings done on it?
Truck Yoo No I haven’t done anything to the truck except replacing the clutch one time.
Tengo un Freightliner cascadia a la venta excelentes condiciones está trabajando
Where is the best place to check vin number, a complete report..good video thanks.
Hey buddy I'm on the market to buy a truck , what's the best of the truck to buy for over the road and do you have any idea about Penske trucks ? Thank you
Is 400,000 miles on a fairly new cascadia good if I want to buy it for highway use?
Im 56, my son started his own trucking business several months ago. He does flatbed. He worked tankers before fir a corporate fleet. I like the idea of being my own boss along with money. I am currently considering following what my son does but probably vans. I hate sweating and freezing my ass off. I have a nice low 6 figure income from a job. Am I crazy? Is there good money being o/o even in vans even after expenses/savings?
Excellent video good info
Glad you liked it
Congratulations!!
Good video thanx
Glad you found it valuable, Heavy!
You know you balling when you buy motor oil by the drum lmao.
Also imagine the cost of replacing coolant? Forgetta bout it. 100 gal. Radiator capacity.
That moment when you are buying trans fluid by the gallon xD.
Gas fill up is 300-650 at the pump xD
Holy shit.
Hey, I am looking for a new truck. I like the Freightliner Cascadia 2016 DD15 automatic transmission. Do you have any recommendations on what truck should I get? I am trying to find the "corolla" of trucks. I am a newbie, so your advice its greatly appreciated!
Corolla of Trucks!!! I can't stop laughing mahn! You the main man that understand. were you able to get one?
Volvo junk. Nothing but electrical and rust problem. I started in a 1965 b61 Mack. I've driven Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Autocar, Mack and Western Star. I prefer Pete's. Love the channel. Keep up the good work. Trucking for 40 years. Used to be fun now it's a pain in the ass. Way too many regulations.
Pre emission reg. Volvo D12s are pretty good and reliable if serviced regularly and no EGR and emission sensors that modern post 2008 engines have. It's an emission electrical crap that fails most of the time in D13's and ISX's
trucks are only last for 1milion miles its all depends what you been carrying on heavy or lighter loads, I'm driving a Volvo 760 vnl 2021and have slots of sensors,
Can we just buy with a warranty, then when the warranty goes out then sell the truck..
are there models with automatic transmission?
Are they selling faster or are they living full time in them?
My brother have been driving a truck for while , and he wants by one, if someone know the best place to buy it here in Minnesota please tell me where ,
Thank You for your info, I drove almost a year now I have a plan to buy Volvo truck so which one you recommend me to buy?? I want to OTR and port
Bereket Tiramo i recommend the one that you understand the most. Learn and learn about your trucks and then buy one that had good service history. Have capital aside for repairs. Manual over automatic.
@@TruckYoo why manual over auto? Is there a mechanical reason for this or just your preference? I drove mostly a freightliner dt12 but the Volvo auto I tried was really nice on the shifts.
I found 1 2012 Volvo with a d13 740000 miles for $18k...what you think
hey man would you help me find a good truck as I'm new to this? how can I rich you?
What’s the best specs for flatbed/step deck
What to look for in a Volvo with a Cummins engine 10 speed trans
That's is a 2005 or older so u don't have to deal with all those sensor in a Volvo
I know this is a very generic question but I drove a 750k freightliner cascadia for a company and in 4 months it broke 3 times, was I unlucky? How many issues did you have how often?? Is Volvo better? Thank you brother for everything!!!!
If it was a Casscadia it was probably an emission trucks. you probably had a lot of issues with emissions and electronics. Pre-emission trucks can live very easily up to 1.5M miles. Emission trucks , maybe 1M but the cost of repairs doubles. Check our other videos and thank you!
What would you suggest for running dry van?
7:40 A lot of really pretty trucks are crap on the inside? Is there a specific make or model?
Jordan Eischeid this one is a VNL670 with a D12 engine
So I wanna buy a truck for passive income but idk anything about it anyone can sum it up for me or send me a link to a Yt video or article
What are the good spcs for OTR ?
Hey truck yoo.
You still have your same volvo truck?
What is a low rear end ratio truck?
Unfortunately at the time this truck was purchased it would have been very close to needing an engine overhaul which will cost you another $30,000 and a week in the shop
Either used pre DPF or Glider, nothing else to it
Don't buy from mhc Kenworth and don't get the warranty it's not worth the extra 5 grand or more bc it only covers turbo and Def. My next truck will be a pre emission truck so far haven't had anything major yet it's a 2016 Peterbilt 579 one thing I really hate about it is that it has the damn lane control sensor on it once I pay it off I'm taking that crap off myself
How much did you pay for your mhc Kenworth...I am considering going to that dealership because of their great rating reviews and equipment in mint condition
Pre-emission is the way to go. Thank you for watching Big Tim!
Big Tim's Trucking LLC I’m in the process of buying a truck and they want to sell me everything from that 5k warranty, gap etc, paying for warranty is useless?
Hey man great video looking to own n operate dont wanna drive( hire a driver) but im taking cdl classes now. That being said i wanna run in my city Jacksonville fl is there any tips on what exactly i should be looking for?thx in advance
Hi tony jones. My question is why don't you wanna drive? and if so why get into trucking the first place?
@@TruckYoo im looking for passive income and want to be home at night with family. leaning more toward dump trucks to run in my city jax fl
@@tonyjones-fr3yj Run by yourself first. Learn as much as you can about the business then consider a driver. Dump is a good way to be home daily. Good luck thank you for watching
@@TruckYoo ty for replied and also how do u feel about someone getting there cdl with no schooling (im sure i could but would miss out on networking)your thoughts?
Good content but can you get more into specifics. If you can. Thanks.
Will get into more specs in my future videos. More feedback on topics and any more information I can provide is always welcome!
Good informative video but if I had a dollar for everytime u said uhh or umm I’d be a billionaire 😂
LOL. Working on it:) You will see less and less of that. I appreciate your comment.
Shaffer Trucking is hiring. Refer to James Larsen when applying
Is there any particular reason you reccomend manual? Isn’t automatic the future? Less hassle? Also, the history of Volvo and their automatics lately?
Manuals are more reliable, cheaper to repair and maintain...
This is beside the point but you are fine 🙂 Anyways, appreciate the advice! I'm thinking bout switching to owner op. Already drive a Volvo vnl for my current company, I love it til it acts up! 😂
Dragoness Nat thank you for watching. Be safe out there:)
Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed
I heard in other youtube channels... they are advising people that they should run from Volvos because their engine is not reliable. I am surprised to see a parking space full of volvos. Very difficult to build information on the internet. Just a comment in here.
Many drivers say very bad things about D13 .
Buy you a brand-new truck instead of a second hand used one also get an warranty on it an insurance
Hey Cleveland! I hear you, but that comes with a hefty price tag for the rig and increase in insurance premium. Not everyone is set up to get a loan for a brand new rig, and with the emissions nowadays, new does not always mean better.
My friend told me don’t buy from your company and he said Volvo are the best!! By the way great vid dude🔥🔥💪🏾
Alexander cruz thank you Alexander. I’m just not sure about the buying part. I don’t sell anything:)
No no i mean don’t buy from the company you work for lol
700k is not low mileage. I know it's a semi truck but alot of things need to be replaced and there's no telling what the maintenance might look like with other drivers
It's low for that model year and engine. It varies for different manufacturers. I agree with you that there's no telling how other drivers ran but that's true about any used truck. Having a budget for repairs and knowing what to replace is the key. Simply buying a used truck off the lot, and immediately going to work with it, carries a lot of risk and I would not recommend it. Thank you for watching.
Is 325,000 miles low mileage for a 2008 with a Detroit 60 series on it
@@stocks4bt yes
I have a 2007 pete 387 with 1,355,000 so compared to mine your miles are low lol
The king of (UM)
I need more specs.
This guy says over and over how important it is to understand the mechanical specs and engineering of semi trucks, but that is a HUGE topic, and he doesn't give any tips on where to learn that kind of info. How can a new truck driver learn the mechanics of big rigs inside and out, without going to a diesel mechanic school?
2012 Volvo with a d13...700,000 miles...what you think?
Couldn't tell you. We would have to inspect the truck
God bless you and your coming generations. Amen
Thank you unknown!
I want a truck that I can run ice on a flatbed during the summer from Texas to Florida
If someone is just starting off.
Is it better to buy a used or new?
I would buy it new. Used trucks are too risky. A truck breaking down and you can't find the issue will bring you down real fast!
What company is the best place to lease a truck?
Im from las vegas. Are you an owner operator?
Does your shop sell trucks?
Not yet. We have it in our plans. Thank you for asking.
Would anyone recommend buying from Schneider?
I would look at what they have for sure. I have some Schneider trucks that are glider kits. I'm happy with the purchase. I would be cautious though just as buying from any other seller. Look into the records and study the emissions you are about to get yourself into.
Truck Yoo emissions as in, if the unit has ever gotten into an accident, engine or what?
@@yoban360 I drive local for them right now, i would not buy a an old fleet truck they do the bare minimum on repairs.
18Darkside thanks brother, I showed up to their Houston terminal, it’s where the truck was and they would only let me start the truck but can’t even take it out for a test drive. It was one of their tanker tractors. It was dirt cheap, but maybe it will cost me the double if I were to buy it.
What trucks do you refer for heavy loads
Hey Jullian! Are we talking local driving, regional, coast to coast?
@@TruckYoo how about coast to coast? Would you recommend 2013 freightliner coronado with 850, 000 miles on it? Looking to buy my first truck. Thanks
Whats considered low mileage ?
curt williams for a D12 I would say around 800K it get’s to 1.5 easly and I say it’s a 2M mile engine.
What would be an acceptable or good deal price whise $$ ?
Volvo used to be a swedish company now Chinese cheap parts all plastic and fiber glass.Electrical and air leaks are common in Volvo's.
It still is Swedish. They sold the car division.
Is a d12 good engine
Nedo the car guy Nedo yes. Very reliable if it’s cared for. Thank you for watching
Yes, No EGR and unreliable emission sensors
@@TruckYoo does that included a 2005 VED12 365?
