Is ur truck still available?
I truly appreciate all the valuable info, especially regarding government cracking down on emission by taking/confiscating people properties'🤦♂️🤷♂️
What do you think of the freightliner coronados ?
😊
Listen to the man, with 23 years as owner operator I've been there done that.
Just remember one thing, just because you buy new truck 160k or more, does not mean shippers will pay you more than a used 40k, 50k, 60k used truck. And even before buying the rig, make sure you have work for that truck.
Make sure you have work. What do you explain more? Like how do you make sure you have work for something before you have it? I’m ask because I’m getting into the trucking game & im just thinking load boards
@@2kpapii did you
@@2kpapiimany of these commenters are company drivers who are trapped in the be stupid game.
@@soflodoug I felt that. So basically you’re saying on the flip side is to be be the the boss if you’re going to play this game
You said it best… If there’s no work that $100k truck not going to make you any more money then a $5k truck….
Ryan for a guy that has only been a O/O for a few years your well seasoned in this business. And your absolutely right as these trucks get more advanced they will make it harder to delete things on the semi.
Thanks
Really appreciated this! Very informative...
Very informative. As an Entry Level Driver, this was priceless…. You just don’t get this info in schools.
Glad to hear that! Thank you!

I’m like you I’d rather have good equipment than cheap equipment, you spend a little more but in the long run it’s worth it especially when it comes to safety. Great video

I always believed Cummins truly is for the "working man" that's why they don't charge for service info and they want that relationship to be GREAT. . . so that you'll come back and buy a newer truck down the road when/if you need to. EXCELLENT business model 👏 👌
Very informative .. thanks your a PATRIOT

“Beat juice” never heard 😮. Thanks teach
I had a 6x2 T660 with super singles when I worked for CFI and that thing would get stuck on dry gravel. It was ridiculous.
You make a good argument for the earlier emissions trucks. Most people I’ve heard advise staying away from those years. What year did they change to the more advanced sensors, and is there a way to know which it has when looking at a used truck?
Awesome job explaining to potential newbie like me..........need an HDT to pull 5th wheel RV and or Stacker Trailer conversion for living quarters.
Looked on truckpaper....thats a very fair price for your truck...good luck on the repair biz
Thank you!
thnak u more more more
You're like the Bill Hewitt of Cummins semi's. Subbed!
Thank you!
Best thing to do if buying a used Semi is to take it to a competent mechanic shop for a full inspection, but it helps if you're already a mechanic and know exactly what to look for... Good stuff!
Actually the best thing to do is to always right 1 hour dish only check and advise if not the will do whatever and they will charge whatever bs
damn great video
Thank you! 😊
I live in the Chicago area and would love to be able to connect up with someone honest and as knowledge as you are. I'm a company driver without any mechanical abilities which is my barrier to becoming owner/operator. I love your channel and enjoy watching although much of what you share is a little over my head. Wish you all the continued success and God bless.
As long as you can do the little stuff, like change out a light and replace a wiper blade or a mudflap, you can do ok. The little stuff is where they really stick it to you. The big stuff, yeah the labor is expensive, but if they can get you back on the road a couple days quicker than you could do yourself, then you can make that extra money right back with the extra days of driving. You just want to have a knowledgeable hometown mechanic to serve as a base, maybe you can call once in a while for advice or something, and if you pay close attention to Google reviews when selecting a shop on the road, you can eliminate quite a few headaches. I try to always shoot for at least a 4 star rating out of 5, but they have to have at least like 25 reviews before that number starts to carry any weight.
And that's another thing about little jobs - if you have to wait 3 hours to change a lightbulb, you're also getting killed on the time, in addition to the astronomical labor. Fifty bucks for a 3 minute job is like $1000 per hour, plus you waited 3 hours to get in. But if you wait 3 hours to get in for a big job that they can knock out in 4 hours where it'd take you 3 days, then you're not in real bad shape.
I got a friend that is a diesel mechanic that could help u choose one maybe
U just gotta get into it like its your personal car, or your race car …start separating everything and it super simplifies everything. Mechanical, electrical, engine, trans, etc
Thank you very much im about to purchase a 2019 with 724k miles and i didnt know hours mattered that much wow
I wouldn't recommend anybody to buy a truck right now. I'm seeing trucks with 800,000 miles for $80000+ . That is insane!!!! It would be best to lease a brand new truck at this point.
Dude it’s the best time to buy a truck, at least it was in the beginning of the year lol
Well, I differ
Any time is a good time to buy a truck.
Depends where you buy it and or if you will finance it or buy it cash.
As long as you have a good hook up, that will pay good money to haul their freight.
No problem.
I’m just starting out.. I’m going with a day cab in a few months to get started.
It would be best to leave industry and go learn a trade like HVAC or welding.
@@ceeaz1633 same…looking for a day cab too!!
Great video! I've been running non-CDL hotshot the past few years and just got my CDL-A. I want to move up to a semi, but can't afford much right now. Was looking to up my weight and length to CDL levels but even the older 450's and 550's that run my favorite 7.3 Powerstrokes cost as much as an old semi. And I could get a 48' flatbed cheaper than a 40' gooseneck, not to mention that the loads available for flatbed semi are far FAR more plentiful! Decisions decisions...
I'm hotshot going semi too. Im tired of having to look all day for a good load
@@coleb4u The amount of available semi loads compared to hotshot is huge!
Thanks Ryan, because of you and your channel (this video in particular) I made a good purchase on my 1st. truck. I made sure that I purchased a truck with an APU installed since it went into service. 2ndly. I ensured to have a pre purchase inspection (3rd. party technician present) done on the truck before I signed the deal.👍🏾
The truck has 627,839 miles, with engine hours of 13,339.55 thanks to the APU.
Technically, if the truck didn't have an APU, the engine hours might've been in the lower 20,000's. With hours within the 20,000-25,000 range, I'd have little to no time before the truck would require a rebuild. Again, thanks for your content.
Thanks for taking time to write the comment. Wish you the best on your trucking journey!
What I suggest is to buy in old truck with no EGR or def system.
Congrats on your sale, I noticed the Ad is down
Cool video one of the problems with using a manual these days is that the CDL schools on his schools are using trucks with automatic only transmissions so then when you take the test you get a restriction on your license even if you know how to run a manual.
True, better to find a school with an manual transmission.
No if you buy a manual you can never get a team driver
I love KW's
So do I! 😀
Please don’t trust the investment discussion in the comments. Be careful! So many scams out there! Stay safe fellow truckers and friends!
That truck you’re driving us one of my dream trucks how much are you selling it for

@@truckingandfixing is $23,000 too much a 2013 Volvo dnl 670 d13 engine 10speed Eaton transmission with 633k miles it was fleet maintained and it has 21,264 engine hours on it they sent me a video of the truck running its sounds good.
I would love to own your truck. I wish I was ready
Amazing video, advertisement bombardment was at about 98% capacity like some 12 Ply Chinese tires but other than that extremely helpful
Something that needs to be mentioned, just because you have a Cummins in a Kenworth doesn’t mean you can go to a Peterbilt for repairs, especially if they need ECM programming. I learned the hard way. I had to pay Peterbilt AND THEN Kenworth to uninstall the Peterbilt program and then update the Kenworth program in my 2020 T680.
First thing I look for is that blue cap on the side
Hey Ryan first I must say I love watching your videos.question how do you fix a deleted DEF on a 2013 Kenworth T700 ?
don't know if you have any video on that.
I run a Michelin XPS rib,275x45,on my 4wheelr.
IDK, but good 16 ply tires would suggest more comprehensive all around maintenance over shortcut tires.
Noce video Ryan a lot of great info. Hey do have a truck for sale at this point?
Sorry I do not have a truck for sale.
I brought a sliding 5th wheel from junk yard for cheap so I could pull FedEx doubles during peak season
Super interested about that cummin’s info link your talking about !
It is coming out soon!
Don’t forget to match gear ratio with transmission.
Hey buddy long time! Hope all is well with u !
Thank you! You too!!
Not only are you done when you blow a super single, but you also have to buy a new wheel.
The main thing I worry about in a used truck is head gasket leaks. I know there are drivers who over RPM the engine while jaking either intentionally or they don't know what that does to the head gasket. I don't want any issues like that which can make the heating system in the cab wonky. How do we find out if that is the case on a used truck?
I spotted the advert a few days ago. I quickly realized that you decided to sell your truck. I am very curious about what drove you to take this decision, considering the new gearbox.
🤣🤣 hea got a few videos where he explains that
Retreads get too hot on long runs. They're for local work, like a dump truck that drives a few miles and then parks for an hour. Plus they're horrible for MPG. Basically if curb damage and debris on rough terrain will kill your tire before tread wear will, then buy retreads. That's why the big fleets buy expensive tires - they have a team of bean counters measuring total cost per mile, and retreads don't hold up at all in long haul.
How's it going... I really appreciate your knowledge and videos... so I wanted to know what specs should I look for when hauling overweight loads?
Thanks
Kenworth 680
🔥🔥🔥
🙏
I’d consider buying that truck but I noticed that blue lid just behind the drivers door.
The Savior we always wanted
Type of guy I would trust selling me a used truck.
Hey Ryan just I want to thanks you...bcz I learned a lot about trucks on your videos. And I ve a plan to buy used semi truck....is there is any possibility helping me ?.
thank you
I noticed you kept Detroit Diesel out of your Cummins recommendation comparing to other engines
Here in uk about 80% of our semi are 6x2 and they are ok .
What would a person need to know before buying land? What do you need to know? What are the requirements to get a loan? How do you find cheaper prices, etc? How do you buy land to build on?
First thing would be ! Can it be perked??
@@anonymoustrucker1782 what do you mean?
Year 11-14 trucks always have problems with the dpf systems though.
Supersingles much better in high snow or in off road , but dual tires much better traction and stability on pavement. Unbelievable but it is!
Great video. I am in Barberton Ohio would like to talk shop sometime
What are some of the reasons for truck prices so high nowadays?
Did you ever struggle with emission based maintenance owning a 2013? I’ve heard the worst of it was up to 2014/2015 and afterward a lot of it got straightened out. Buying my first and although I prefer old school I’m going “California compliant” for my first truck at least and I’d like to avoid the nightmare emission problems. I’m buying used obviously, thanks for the informative videos!
Emission is still most problems with trucks, didn’t notice a difference on older and new trucks.
@@truckingandfixing here’s to good luck then 🤞😂
Not after you delete it
@@nunyabuziness8421 my concern with that is being caught. Especially in a strict state like California.
What’s the best gear ratio for a heavy hauler hauling CAT equipment ?
What the best frame length for a smoother ride also should the fifth wheel be raised?
If you get a 3.42 and you get the largest 24.5" Michelins will that drop the ratio?
Which APU is the most reliable?
Thanks for your advice.
What's a good wheelbase for pulling flatbed?
Would you recommend an extended warranty on a used truck with 400,000 miles ?
Great videos.
