    Fascinated by your Thomas andEvans find, they were eventually taken over by Corona SoftDrinks and became part of the Beecham Group. I worked at their head office in Brentford in the 1960s

    • @VintageParagonUk
      @VintageParagonUk  3 года назад +1

      Thomas and Evans are my most common bottle find as they started out in Porth which is not far from here, I guess in those days the drinks were made with real fruits so I suppose it makes sense for them to use the left over fruit for something like jam, I found that really interesting though! I love researching as most of the companies back then are still going although most have been absorbed into other giant companies but you can trace them back to their origins 🙂👍

    Morally those Wye Valley jars actually belong to me. When I was researching my family history I discovered that my mother's side of the family owned several fruit orchards in the Forest of Dean. In 1835 they were directly in my line. Where are they now? Why isn't my name on those jars? Why am I paying for strawberry jam? Undoubtedly there is something shady waiting to be uncovered.

    • @VintageParagonUk
      @VintageParagonUk  3 года назад +1

      🤔 that does sound very shady! Maybe you need to do some more investigating so you can have all the jam that you ever wanted

    Great finds. The corn vase item at 9.54 looks very similar to pottery made by Price and Kensington, potters in Stoke on Trent. my mum gave me a similar vase which is a celery design ( as in the vegetable) vase , although it is 1960's pottery. Perhaps not the right date for your dump dig site, but maybe potteries copied older designs for kitchen ware. Very interesting,. Love watching.!!

    Lovely cod! And the color on that Scott's Emulsion looked beautiful. Some very cool finds.
    I have to say that as a safety manager, you made me really uncomfortable. Digging into the side of your hole underneath all that soil and then putting your body under there to pull out finds 😬. I hope the wall doesn't ever collapse on you. That would be disastrous.

    • @VintageParagonUk
      @VintageParagonUk  3 года назад +1

      Thanks 👍 the Scotts emulsion does have a really nice tint to it, I dont see too many like that. I am super careful, I never put my body under ground, just an arm that I can quickly pull out if needed, I wouldn't want a rock to hit me on the head either 😂 there is a lot of roots all through this area from the bushes so that gives it some stability but there are warning signs before there is a collapse when one does happen 🙂👌
