i just want to say thank you for these videos my dad just passed away in january and he did all our shops tops and now im having to take them up and your video helped me alot with things i couldnt remember him showing me thank you for real amazing detail and instructions
Thank you for this video. The rear strip started to pull off on my convertible cutlass and this helped me fix it.
You guys deserve our business because you took the time to do this video!!!!.. Our sincere appreciation for any help provided. Who else has taken the effort to provide a good instructional video? A good comprehensive tutorial on how to do the top ourselves is a necessity that just was not out there a few years ago... I have run out of money to hire it done but just enough left to buy a new top kit from you. Between myself and a friend, we will need to do four 65/66 convertible tops. We can save thousands!!!!
If you guys can get my stolen 65 convertible back, I now know how to put the top on myself. Great "how to" that avoids a really costly repair. Thanks gentlemen.
When did that happen?
AutoRestoMod
A couple years back now; I get teary eyed thinking about it. But there is always another out there that needs love. Candy Apple Red was not my favorite color anyway.
SixtyFiveDropTop Jeff had that happen several years ago. NEVER fun. We hop that you can get back into another one.
Great video. Gonna tackle the same thing on my 69.
and I am very exited to see your work shop's branch in Saudia Arabia
I need to know where to get a convertible for my 1969 Fairlane
Good video, thank you. How does the two center bows and the wire that goes thru the convertible top attach. I understand that the center bows have "u" shaped channels have screws that attach to the fiber material I assume to act like a "flat backing" to support top but do not see how it is attached to top wire insert. Also does the wire going across the two center bows attach to the frame. Thank you.
instablaster...
Did you guys install the rear quarter top PADS also??
Honestly that video was done so long ago I don't remember.
does the back moulding set has to do something with the convertible top ? does it really help to install de top ?
Are you referring to the chrome moulding? If so, no.
thank you !
Great video!! Liked, subscribed and following on Facebook. But what do you do when you don't have the old top to go by (measurements of the distance between the bow above rear window)? I'm getting ready to do a 1969 coupe Deville top and the old material has already been removed. Thanks in advance
Lots more measuring and tugging. If You could, hit some of the Caddy forums and start asking questions of the convertible owners about these measurements.
Good idea, and again, great video. Thanks.
would this video be same for 87 mustang convertible
Not sure. But, some of the tips would apply.
Do you know where you can buy the 2 metal strips that go into the tie down pockets on the top?
+Jeff Norris Not to cop out on it, but we'd say to call NPD and ask them. Thie sales staff there is pretty sharp.
Sounds Good! Thanks!
They had it part# 50156-1A Thanks!
Great, glad! Thanks for posting the part number as well. It will help others!
No problem!! Keep up the videos!! I have used them many times!!
I have a question about these convertible tops. Is it possible for the inside lining to be white also rather than black? The reason I'm asking is if the lining is white it will reflect the ambient light inside the car when the top is closed. With the black lining the cabin would feel darker inside when the top is closed. The only thing is that if the lining was white is seems like it would get beaten up and soiled by the metal support bars. I would love to have a white or red interior with a white interior lined top.
That would have to be taken up with the manufacturer. I don't know that you could do that without it being a custom (which can be done)
it can be installed on new cars or not ???
There are tops available for new cars. This one will not work for anything but a Mustang.
How much would Larry charge to do my 1965 Mustang top?
+TitanMan404 LOL From Jeff: Larry swore to hunt me down and kill me dead if I sent him any "customers". I've seen him shoot so no good chance of evasion. =) He is retired and seems to like it that way. If you are in the area he might know a shop that he would pass you on to.
