Dave, what a great tour. Attention to detail is spot on... those machined beadlocks and roll cage would give your Sherp the ability for a roll out canopy or a rooftop tent, shovel mounts, Maxxtrax for other people stuck. Thanks Dave
Of course they've got a bright future, they produce an unequalled multi-role platform capable of travelling on, in and over virtually any type of surface or terrain, and keeping its crew safe for whatever their tasking happens to be, and returning them to base, irrespective of the weather! This must be the tenth time I’ve watched this video, I have absolutely no use nor even anywhere to take a sherp yet I still want one ☹️ I’ll have to buy a field just to have a play 🤣
My interest in these is mostly for their capabilities as a bug out vehicle. I have a family of 5, and we could easily all fit in this thing with enough gear to get us into the mountains. Of course it would be fun to play in as well. I doubt I'd put it thru as much abuse as I see in a lot of these videos though. I'll be keeping an eye out, the bigger new model is definitely my favorite. Looking forward to seeing what's next.
They need to partner with a coach company to put together a Sherp Pro XL RV version-I see a kitchenette, living room with big-screen, and bunks set up in the back of that bad boy!

They sure have a nice setup over there, all hand built. Amazing how simple the Sherp is, it goes to prove my point that they could be built for far less than their north American price. If I built my own version I would forget about the heaters and just install air conditioning. Only the tires prevent me from coming up with my own version using stuff I have laying around.
Sherp is a great Company to allow you all that access and let you film it so we can all share in the fun. If only they were available in Australia - they’d sell lots of them.

They should have a pto out the back, that a propeller unit can be attached for lengthy over water trips. Using the tires is grossly inefficient for anything but short excursions.
Great tactics you used there Osta, Mrs Osta asking some very pertinent questions and you dodging around the factory filming. All joking apart it was a great video and allowed us to see the Sherp undressed and in various stages of the build, the drive chains and gears looked way over engineered which means they shouldn't break easily. I'd be uttering a few swear words if I had to change the little drive shaft. Thanks for sharing and keep em coming.
The output shaft is the Sherps "mechanical fuse" to prevent the entire drive train from exploding. So of course Ostacruiser broke it, if he didn't he wouldn't be doing his job! Ha!
So Sherp seems to do best in swampy, muddy areas, but we also see it being used in rocky areas, snowy areas, and frozen lakes, etc. But its greatest advantage seems to be in amphibious situations.

If I had the cash, I would buy one of these things. Of course I would need to get a trailer to carry it, a truck to pull the trailer and property to accommodate all three. It's nice to dream and envy those who do have one.

After selling the rights he still kept working on improvements of the Sherp, and he has build other interesting (offroad) vehicles as well. My question is how or what are they using under the alum to seal all the rivet holes? Or do they spray a coating in afterwards? What i'd like to see is a powered trailer you can tow with a smaller engine controlled from the front but set up for camping/expedition. They hint to anything like that?
My Grandfather would of bought 10 of these if he was still alive lol he built alot of homemade logging equipment back in the 40s and 50s and would of loved these things.
@@ostacruiser he bought one of the first Polaris 6x6s in the mid 90s a Red Big Boss 400 liquid cooled 2 stroke with 27" tires me and my dad still have it at our family homestead here in Northern Minnesota.
And the tubing for the inflation system is so thick for it to act as a suspension, so that the air from the tyre, that bumped onto something gets transmitted to other ones to mitigate the impact.

The chassis/frame is made of galvanised steel, the superstructure is Aluminium.
Also, from what i see, the tyre inflation is linked into the exhaust

It is. I think max inflation is about 3psi on the tires.
That 10x10 may be able to make the Earth spin backward!
