    The underwater world looks stunning! I'm so scared of immediately getting sick when stepping on a small boat but hopefully one day I'll do it and give diving a go💕

    After I've finished watching your vlog I continued to watch Grey's Anatomy (S18E3) and in the first few sentences she explains heat exhaustion - what a coincidence 🙈
    Good to see that you were feeling better afterwards! 💫

      @BackpackingBananas  Год назад +1

      I would’ve killed for a coconut on that boat! 😅😅 the heat exhaustion really was no joke, although I managed pretty well the next day, I then had a MASSIVE decline for the following 3 days! Could t stay awake for longer than an hour or so before needing a lie down and nap, also completely lost my appetite. I was like dang - This is really serious!

    Such amazing underwater footage with the moray eels, sea snakes and turtle, awesome. I went on a snorkelling excursion once in Thailand but no one explained the method and I ended up drinking sea water through the tube and puking at an Olympic level

    I’d be very careful about getting your lip sunburnt again.
    I had what I thought was a cold sore on my bottom lip that wouldn’t heal. Ended up being a cancer that I had have my bottom lip cut off and the skin pulled forward to form a new lip.
    I Never go out in sun without zinc on it now. Wish I’d done that before hand.
    Our little ps need sun protection as well.
    Keep the great videos coming.

    Very jealous of your experience! We just got back from 3 days on a liveaboard in the Similans. Unfortunately the visibility was garbage almost the entire time. Out of 10 dives, only two were better than poor or marginal visibility so we barely saw anything. So much money spent to plod around in the murk! Additionally almost the whole boat was Chinese divers who kept entirely to themselves, so we barely met or spoke to anyone. Such a shame!

  • @adventureswithmegan

    I hope you managed to recover ok! I try to drink an electrolyte drink a day (like with a hydration tablet in, or some coconut water works great too) when I’m in hot countries. You don’t want to get hyponatraemia (low salt levels) from just replacing fluids and not electrolytes as you’ll feel weak and headachey etc.
    Sorry if you already knew this, I don’t mean to be condescending, but hopefully it’ll help others too 🤞🏻

    Very nice Vlog, as a fellow diver im intressted in trying a Diving Safari aswell. What kind of LVL of Diver are on these Boats only exp? i have around 90 Dives Logged so am i ok to go? You said "grouped around air consumption" depending on deeps ofc. i can go around 50min with the 12l tank for an avg. dive usually people last a bit longer, is this still ok? thx

    I miss diving.
    How much does a live aboard like this cost and do they supply all the equipment or do you need to bring your own?

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  Год назад +2

      You can expect to pay £500-£1500 depending on the liveaboard you choose (at least in the Similan islands). Doing a liveaboard in other countries may be much more expensive. Usually all equipment is included, yes.

  • @nadinew.2278
    @nadinew.2278 Год назад +1

    why did people leave halfway through the retreat? just bc of time reasons or is the rest only for more experienced divers? just curious 😅☺️

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  Год назад

      People had the option to book the retreat with or without the liveaboard add-on. You had to be at least open-water certified to attend the liveaboard so we didn’t recommend it for those who were just learning to scuba dive for the first time on the retreat (just in case they didn’t like scuba diving and didn’t want to over-commit too soon!)

    • @BackpackingBananas

      Not particularly so, the wreck yes, but the rest is suitable for open water divers
