I have been to many zoos including San Diego and Omaha wins the medal in my opinion. I was in elementary when the rainforest opened and our school did a field trip to see it!
Great video Jacob! Wow if that zoo get higher rankings than the San Diego Zoo, then that must be one hell of a zoo! I never wouldve known about this Zoo, thanks Jacob!
Taco Johns and Casey’s General Store is a midwestern and Iowa staple. I wish you would have spent more time in Iowa. There is so much to see on that stretch.
Looks like a well cared for zoo. Thanks for taking us there!! BTW>>The Japanese raccoon dog, also known as the tanuki, is a species of canid endemic to Japan
Tanukis are quickly becoming endemic in Europe as well, as an invasive species. The mainland tanuki species (Nyctereutes procyonoides) is now spread from Scandinavia in the north down to Ukraine in the south.
I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet, but tanuki are also mythological creatures in Japanese folklore. They have quite a few abilities, including shape-shifting. Since you enjoy American cryptids, I highly recommend looking into Japanese yokai. There are a ton of unique and interesting folk monsters.
when you get back to waynesville north carolina you should do a blog from there ...i would just love to see what it looks like now days ,compard to when i lived there in 80s.
I have a funny story. My friend and I take multiple trips every single year to walk across bob. It’s one of our favorite things just because of its name and we live close enough to make the trip in a day. I love bob
Very nice, like a zoo should be. Full of surprises. i must say i liked the Tanooki with the bright green crocs the best. But vegetarian piranhas and predatory camels? i never heard of those before ... The Africa Savannah, Desert, and other sections are very nice, showing the animals in a somewhat larger setting. When i visited zoos in the Netherlands as a kid (about 55 years ago) they did have all sorts of animals, but each was kept in a tiny cage. They had neither the space they needed nor the climate or company they needed. Zoos like Henry Dorley nowadays do their best to create eco zones to display and also play an important role in the preservation of animals that face possible extinction. The best part, for me, always is the aquarium. i just love the blue and all the other colors, the great diversity of animals, and the tranquility. Thank you for guiding us through that awesome animal world.
A lovely video today - thank you. The spinning cylinder with the bell is a water-powered Tibetan prayer wheel. The deer were sitting in the mud to cool off and help keep the flies at bay.
I LOVE that you went to the Omaha zoo bc I actually remember requesting that last year, but on behalf of every Iowan ever. You really can not do TJs dirty like that 😢 they’re OLÉS! 🎊
The tanuki should be familiar to anyone who’s played Animal Crossing; that’s old Mr. Tom Nook himself. 😁 I’m so glad you went to the Omaha zoo! My family (we’re all originally from Nebraska) was very excited to see this episode. The last time I was there, they didn’t have aardvarks! I’m so happy! (I LOVE aardvarks, hehe!)
Ogallala has a front street which is doing shows and has alot to look at, petrified wood place, boot hill, mansion on the hill and open range is good food! Another hwy post outside of North platte as well.
Being a few hours away from Omaha, I've been to the Omaha Zoo as a baby/toddler and then many years later for an elementary school field trip, which was a long time ago in itself now. It's definitely one of the best places to see in Nebraska. Hope to go back someday.
I just realized how much I miss taco johns..John's... the oles are great... Nebraska is such a long state used to dread it in the semi... be safe out there and thanks for the great adventure... the cabela's out in Nebraska never seem to disappoint
Enjoyed seeing the Omaha Zoo. Hope you had a good day today heading across rural Nebraska and tomorrow I assume you’ll be to Wyoming. The Wyoming capital city Cheyenne looks to be the next major city in your journey. Some things there include the Cheyenne Depot Museum, Nelson Museum of the West, Buffalo Soldier monument, Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, Wyoming Metal Art Roadside Attraction, and the Wyoming State Museum. Lots of Old West History to see in Cheyenne! Hope you spend a full day there!!
There is so much to see in iowa! You better go back! I can send you a list of places if you would like. Lots of them are along lincoln highway. Seriously though if you come back through I would be happy to show you some places that you would enjoy. ;)
Oh Taco John's, that is one of my favorite places. I love the potato oles. Those aren't tater tots, those are called potato oles and they're oh so good! To me that is the whole reason to go, some Oles (pronounced "Olay") with some salsa or even splurge and get some sour cream and cheese
I have been feeling kinda down and anxious today but those miniature mongeese (?) and other cute animals really lifted my spirits. Your daily videos are a godsend for me, so thank you so much. Also, we don't have tater tots in the UK and it's literally a crime!!!
Another thing to check out if you go to North Platte is Bailey Yard, the world's largest rail yard. You can check out the yard by checking out the visitors center and ascending to the top of the Golden Spike Tower.
THat zoo looks amazing! I love that you always seem to visit the places I love to go, zoos, museums, quirky roadside attractions. Really loving this trip on the Lincoln Hwy. Thanks!! 😀
You missed so much in Iowa. You stayed on new Highway 30 and didn't getting off on the actual historical Lincoln Highway. :( I gave some good suggestions to check out in Central Iowa on the historical Lincoln Highway but you didn't get off the new highway. Boo
You were in Omaha? I live 2 hours to the west,Taco John's is pretty good, the tator tots are called Potato Olaes,I was just at Henry Doorley Zoo 2 weeks ago,it was raining so didn't get to see much, glad you had a great time in my state
Jacob! You NEED to stop at a Runza (Nebraska fast food chain) while you are in Nebraska. And if the road takes you to Kearney, visit the Arch which spans over I-80, it’s a museum about westward expansion along the Platte river.
I can see why that zoo is considered one of the nation’s best. Holy cow, those exhibits are above and beyond 😍 Thanks for introducing us to that wonderful place!
That burrito meal looked delicious 😍 I love seeing all the different foods you sample and it makes me so hungry! 😄 Omar the troll statue was cool. Loved seeing all the lovely animals especially the gorillas 🦍 I found watching the aquarium with all the fish very soothing 💖 The train ride also looked so relaxing 🚂 Thanks Jacob and best wishes ☀️
Taco John’s. My sister went to college in Le Mars, Iowa a long time ago, and since there was no Taco Bell located there, Taco John’s was the only available option. And who doesn’t love Chef Boyardee? I grew up on the raviolis. The zoo was so awesome!
If you're staying on highway 80 thru Nebraska you should stop in Lexington at the military museum. Also Gothenburg has the pony express station. P.s. I'd love to meet you!! You're one of my absolute favorite youtubers!
I remember having Chef Boyardee as a kid back during my grade school years for lunch. The spaghetti rings are my favorite, but I don't eat them anymore since i usually go for more authentic Italian pasta or food. Have a great time in Nebraska!
The Chef saw me through some hard times as well lol Loved the Troll . I always have mixed feelings about zoos . I see their value but at the same time hate the idea of captivity .That one looks well kept though . Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
My hometown is west of Cedar Rapids 45ish minutes and our town celebration is Lincoln Highway Days. It has one (if not the only) of the original Lincoln Highway bridges. I get it, you can't see everything but I am surprised you'd pass that up, considering the theme of this trip. Perhaps you got off the Lincoln Highway?
HEY, JACOB Well the Lincoln Highway is Turning out to be a Really cool experience And It's been lots Of fun so Far I enjoyed the Zoo also they have all The different types of animals and the Viewing platform set up really cool you can See each animal In his own awesome Exhibit Well that was a fun day So let's Just keep up the Cool Experience Traveling down the Old Lincoln Highway Take Care drive safe and will see you on the next video

Honestly blown away by how awesome this zoo was. Loved the highly detailed and expansive animal enclosures and areas
Yeah there's a lot of cool landscaping everywhere and the newer areas look like they could be from a modern theme park
So happy you stopped off at the zoo! What an amazing place! Thank you CB!
