Just got home and had a chance to watch the video on the big screen really helped with the comparison and you're endorsement of them really makes me think I need to buy some new bits
I have used Amana bits building furniture and I think that offering them is an a plus. I have used Freud, CMT, Whiteside and Diablo router bits and it seems Amana stays sharper longer. I just ordered a 1/2" spiral up bit for cutting mortises
Where are Amana router bits made. I have tried looking this up on their website and all I can find is their headquarters is in NY. I see the also own some other brands that are made overseas. Are these all made overseas as well?
I am looking for bits, unfortunately I couldn't get pass the way you spoke to your camera person. I would quit if I was spoken to like that on air. I hope you take this to heart.
That's actually my wife. We are always joking and giving each other a hard time. I'd say it's working pretty well since we've been married over 40 years
Hi Miss Shirley, 1. it's a little harder to pull through the material. 2. Harder to hold a line. 3. Looking at it was magnifiers it has a shinny edge. Here's a video ruclips.net/video/YhCB9-9KO1Y/видео.html
Great video, I notice how the sc50 is a bit tough when carving mostly cause of the 1 flute, is the amana detail bit carve easier and smoother? Have you tried the Foos double sided bit with 90 and 60? That's what I have been using.
Hi Brandy, they are all listed over on our website, makeawoodsign.com under the tab Sign Carving Supplies. Check out our video Coffee & Questions 8/31/16. I go over all our bits one by one.
Thanks for the reviews.... from what I could see the 90 deg Amana seems to have a deeper cut possibility as the flute seems to be longer (deeper) on the shaft. It this true?
Eric, very informative video especially for a newbie like me. Any chance you could send me or post the Amana part numbers for each of the router bits you reviewed in this video? I looked at the Amana website and in a few cases they list multiple part numbers for the bit you displayed in your video. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Bruce all of the bits I use are on our website. Here's a link to our page with all of them listed www.makeawoodsign.com/shop/index.php?route=product/category&path=4 If you have questions let me know, eric@makeawoodsign.com
Not sure which bit you're talking about? I showed all the Amana bits I'm using. Narrower is not necessarily better, it's more about the way the bit is designed and made.
Eric we are supposed to get our Sweet Pea sign today. Can't wait. I'll email you with the 'showing' results. Based on the video, I'm sure it'll be tremendous. Also what do you use the carving liner bit on? jm
We have all these bits in our website store makeawoodsign.com/shop/ Look for the Router Bit category. Be sure and email me directly if I can answer any questions for you, eric@makeawoodsign.com
Personally, I find Whiteside overrated. Amana is a great bit, and I've noticed the biggest difference from Amana and Whiteside, is Amana holds an edge longer. Also the Whiteside has lower quality bearings for their edging bits, and they tend to wiggle/rattle where Amana seems nearly perfect in terms of tolerances. With that said, I don't use either with my heavier duty, ½" spanked bits. They lack the edge I get. In that scenario, I prefer CMT, and Freud. But for ¼" bits, and solid carbide bits, Amana seems to be best. (But I feel they could be a lot better still.)
The information is good but the interruptions are very distracting. Maybe you guys could work out placement, viewing options, etc before you start videoing.
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry for the distractions Chuck, we do what we can.... We plan what we're doing but I am very much an off the cuff kind of guy. We aren't perfect and don't want to be. Thanks for watching, Eric
I made a video a couple years ago where I went over every one of them. Just remember the SC-50 is now replaced by the Carving Liner. Please email me directly if you have more questions I can help with, eric@makeawoodsign.com

Glad you liked the video and it helped. We'll be here when you need us, thanks so much for all the support, we really appreciate it.
I agree on the cases for the bits. I bought some old bits at a sale and they had the square cases. Really keeps them secure!
Yes absolutely they are much better.
Enjoyed the video as usual. You sure live on the edge arguing with the boss like that.
LOL, Thank you Jim
Here in the UK I have been getting router bits in the square package and they are great, no more rolling off the bench !!
Yea I love them!!!

I have asked the Amana Corporation directly. The answer I get is some of them are made here (USA) and some are made in Israel.

Can you give an example of what happens when a bit “looses its edge”?
Thanks 😊

@@oldave100 Thanks Eric!
great info .always learn from your videos...thanks .
Thanks buddy!!!
It looks like the Amana 60 degree shank is half the length of the Whiteside bit. Personally I prefer the longer shank.
I don't have a problem with them either way.
Is Amanda USA make? And are they high quality?
Amana are definitely the best bits we've ever used. Most are made in the USA
Fantastic show
Thank you so much!!!

Hi Cleve, Yes absolutely the Amana carving liner cut WAY smoother then the SC-50. No I haven't tried any of the foos bits.
I can't wait for my wife to get home so I can bicker with her over the router bits I just ordered... Thanks for the comparison and inspiration!
You're welcome Matt, Thank you for watching and all the support!!!
Can you list the item numbers for the bits from the Amana page. Also, do you have a tutorial on which bits to use for what?
Hi Brandy, they are all listed over on our website, makeawoodsign.com under the tab Sign Carving Supplies. Check out our video Coffee & Questions 8/31/16. I go over all our bits one by one.
Awesome video thank you.
Thank you!!!!
Great review, Eric. I've been an Amana fan and user for a couple of years, and find them to be excellent bits.
I agree 100%

Yes that is correct, good eye Gary!!!

When you showed the examples it seemed to me that the whiteside at the shallow depth was narrower, would that be better?
Not sure which bit you're talking about? I showed all the Amana bits I'm using. Narrower is not necessarily better, it's more about the way the bit is designed and made.
@@oldave100 thanks, it was nice of you to reply, I hope one day that I will be able to buy (at least) one.

That's great, sure hope you like it. The carving liner is for extreme small detail. I use instead of the SC-50.
Where can I get all this bits any links please
