I don't do woodworking, but I have built control panels for flight sims (plexiglas). Engraving the letters are very difficult using a Dremel (even if it's in the "drill press" attachment)...now that I know the name of the very pointy bit ("carving line router bit") and to use a clear, standalone base, it will help immensely!! Most people seem to use CNC engravers or comparable, which is way too rich for my blood, but this setup will be wonderful!!
Thanks for putting this up!! ❤

I’ve purchased two bases and several bits from the Rhoten’s business and they offer wonderful quality products. Like any craft, it takes time and practice to perfect - but with their base, bits and videos they get you EXTREMELY advanced and productive very quickly! Can’t say enough great things about these guys - I wish I was part of their family!!

Nice video. I would add that using a household iron can be used to transfer toner from a laserjet printer will also work. On epoxy insertion into tight areas, try using an oral syringe. The tapered and curved tip can be trimmed to change the orifice size and gives you better access to tight areas. Hope this helps. Steve

This guys bases are great! As well as his videos. A couple years ago I fell off of a roof I was working on. Broke a bunch of bones and couldn’t work for quite a while. I spent a lot of time with a trim router with one of these bases learning this process. It was really challenging with all my injuries but it kept my mind busy and had something to look forward to during that time. My current view is that CNC takes the man out of craftsmanship. But I also see how a CNC for a straight up woodworker is necessary. Im a renovation carpenter, my preferred work is hand building built-in cabinets and shelving. If I did only built -ins I bet I’d loosen up on the idea of automation. I just love the being able to do things by hand. When I build a display and hand carve the business’s logo on it, they loose their minds that it’s not a CNC, it’s gratifying. Thanks for having these guys on, really kool of you to promote something fun like this.

That turned out beautiful and the fill you did Matt, was a great final touch.
I’d like to make one. I can say, Eric and Ryan make it look easy 😅. I have the 5 bits and base plate for my Bosch router, Rapid Resizer, inkjet with freezer paper letter sized sheets, and laser engraver for templates and letters, and out of 3-4 signs, I have one ☝🏼 that was worthy of finishing. I was a welder by trade for many years (following lines) and for me it just isn’t something I’ve been able to just sit down and do. Takes practice.

If you didn't want the ink to smear, you could do the same except use a laser printer instead and heat to transfer. I used to use this method all of the time to make circuit boards and front panel labels. Works a treat.
I've also seen places like Stewmac that make custom bases for dremels to do fine inlay work on guitar fretbaords. They could do something similar and maybe more controllable than even a trimming router.
