I am totally blown away! People are still continue the traditional celebration started hundreds of years ago. Again, it is the human spirit, people get together to fight the invaders, no planning, everyone just do their part. People are so friendly offering food for strangers...Thanks for bringing to us these traditions. Hope they will continue.
A real eye opener for many overseas Chinese . You videos and visits to all these places are so amazing. Thank you so much Yan for bringing all these traditions to us.
I'm Chinese Malaysian and my grandfather was from Hainan Island but Putien was also my ancestors' village before the end of Southern Song dynasty, which was about 700 to 800 years ago! My surname is Long 龙 and I had read the history of the Long Clan whereby they had migrated to Hainan Island as soldiers during almost the end of Southern Song dynasty. I also read before that even these days during Ching Ming, some Long Clan members will travel to Putien to pay respect to their ancestors.
This is so interesting. You are doing a wonderful job, Yan by documenting these traditional culture practices of the people in China. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Yes this gal doing great job in exploring different cultures and traditions and showcasing it to outside world which otherwise wouldn't have been known to others outside their country. It is really interesting to watch different Chinese traditions in her RUclips videos. Good job Yan. We have never known before such beautiful Chinese traditional celebrations.
Loving your videos, I knew China had a tremendous amount of traditions, but see so many of them through your videos is really an eye opener! I can't wait to visit China!
I love to watch this. So many cultures with such rich traditions. I weep for the things we have lost here in the west. Nothing even close to these rich traditions that are important to the human spirit, the things that truly keep us happy.
Hi from Las Vegas! Happen by chance to see your channel and I am going to watch all your videos. China has such beautiful traditions. You should be very proud of having a living record of unseen China 🇨🇳
Thanks Yan for showing us 仙游! So excited to see the place of my ancestor's origin. You might be the one and only youtuber that can show us the smaller towns in China. 感恩🙏
Your videos really give us a look at real Chinese people, something we never really see here in the West. I have subscribed because you make such fascinating videos. I hope you have a Wonderful New Year too.
Being ethnic Chinese myself, residing in the US, but originally from Malaysia, it is an eye opener to see from your eyes, the myriad of Chinese cultures and traditions from all over China. It does certainly make me proud of being Chinese. Thanks so much for exposing all the wonderful things from China to the rest of the world. Hopefully, that will help diminish all the ignorance and bigotry and make this world a better place for everyone.
for those of us that know China from what s on the news (i'm Romanian btw), you really are making a case for how big and diverse China really is. good job! very good indeed.
As usual again an excellent docu. I felt your pride and your belonging throughout this episode. I watched it with great intent and with a big smile. This is the true china with its everyday Chinese people that are bonded together by centuries of traditions and self worth. I was fortunate to experience their hospitality and gratefulness in my travels to China. Loved it, thanks Yan for your excellent work.
Amazing grand scale celebrations! People of faith are unpretentious - open and caring and often willingly sharing their believe outwardly. That the tradition has managed to maintain its existence to this modern age of high rise buildings , digital cameras and drone technology speaks volume of the peoples' undying faith. Great video footage and narration. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for showing us the various celebrations held in China...It’s an eye opener for us Chinese born out of China. Gong Xi Fa Cai! Proud to be a Chinese too!
Me too proud to be Chinese though not able to speak the language cause at a certain period indonesian government didn't permit it, but deep in my heart I still do it. Thanks Yan to share it with us.
While I lived in China, I was able to see a similar tradition to the bench lanterns in a village in the township of 缙云 in 浙江丽水. It's a little different though, and I think even more fun! The village's dragon was about 140 meters long (they said it can get to be over 200!) and had a huge head and tail made from paper. The men assemble in the village square, and play a game where the head of the dragon must be caught by the tail. It's very chaotic, and took so long the men had to take a couple smoke breaks. After the head is caught, the dragon sets off for the temple, and then parades through the village while people shoot off fireworks. However, the tail is always trying to pull the head backwards, so sometimes the dragon will pass by your house and be pulled back multiple times! Each time you shoot fireworks off again. To top it all off, there's performances in the village hall and a night market in the square where everyone's made goodies and are selling them to their neighbors. That was one of my favorite memories of China, and perhaps my life. It made me understand so much more about Chinese culture and why the countryside is so important for retaining tradition. So thankful to my student that invited me that year.
Lovely video and great to see so many invitations for dinner. When I went to China in 2019, we were invited out for a meal every day for a month, by different people.
Yan, once again you opened my mind to China - very rich in culture. I'm Chinese Australian originally from Malaysia. Like you said, you are proud to be Chinese. The people there are so friendly and accommodating. I have never been to China. Is it possible for you to organise a tour? I you have done China proud and those of us living overseas proud too. Well done, Yan.
The scale of logistics to organize, time manage to the minutae is absolutely astounding.Kudos to the clean-up teams after each procession pass-by. TQ aYan,sumptuous footage into a China we all know by heart but visually forgotten.
What those on the outside too often forget is that China is far more than its government and politics. The people of China are not any different from you and I in what matters most.
I am from Indonesia. This is my grandmother's hometown. She used to go back once a year with her friends but now she is too old and can't travel anymore. She loved it everytime she traveled back home.
Chinese people are amazing. Thank you for documenting this. I think it's important for us in the West to see what China is really like, compared to the propaganda we're spoon-fed.
You mentioned “you feel proud to be Chinese” and i think you should absolutely! I think you have a great channel. Its very enjoyable to watch. Hope you proper with what you are doing.
Yan..Another great video. As a foreign born overseas Chinese with Fujian roots. It’s an eye opening to know Fujian traditions over the ages. Please continue to enlighten all overseas Chinese from different perspective other than the modern cities or new technologies. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Ms Yan, at the end of your video, you unconsciously said you feel so proud to be a Chinese. You touch my heart. I have the same feelings as you. I also feel so proud to be a Chinese especially with the rise of China and I am an overseas Fui Chiew Hakka Chinese living in Southeast Asia.
I'm really enjoying your videos Yan! Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing from your perspective. Many of us who are not Chinese would not get to see many of these traditions, but more importantly, not get to experience, understand or appreciate them as much as someone who is Chinese. Love it!
Thank you Yan for introducing Chinese culture and traditions to the world. I hope more Chinese RUclipsrs will follow your lead and show the authentic China to the whole world.❤
I will never go to these beautiful country side, so thank you Yan for taking me there. Beautiful people beautiful culture. So friendly and kind, truly a hidden gem. THX

Wow! What a mesmerising tradition! Seeing all those people celebrating I just felt a pure joy coming out of screen. Amazing video, I’m glad you film these type of things you can’t see anywhere else.
Yan you are such a capable film maker. Usual it will take a mini bus load of film crew to produce such a movie, not including those editors in the studio. Good job.
Your videos are among the very high quality ones in RUclips. Thank you for showing the world all these unique places that very few tourists know about. I send you warm greetings from my country Malaysia.

Fujian, as you probably know, is not a town but a province. Putian is both a prefecture level city as well as as a prefecture in Fujian, meaning it's one level below a province but one above a county. You need to be precise where in Putian your folks came from.
I'm loving your video and I really enjoyed watching the Latern Parade. It's amazing! Thanks for sharing with us. Big LIKE from me. Greeting from Singapore.

Thanks for filming this. This was the land of my ancestors.
