    You could replace the name “Joseph Smith” with “David Koresh” throughout this video and it would be equally as accurate and true. Go ahead and try it. Watch it again but imagining she is saying “David Koresh”. How does it all sound now? And, yes, Koresh had followers who were equally as devoted true-believers and believed he was a true prophet.

    Nothing in the new Testament teaches polygamy.

    • @carlransdell9480

      And in fact the New Testament abolishes any form of polygamy as it supersedes Mosaic Law with Christ's ministry (the Golden Rule) but considers both monogamy and abstinence from blood important enough issues to be spelled out individually.

    I’m not a believer in the Bible, so using biblical references to defend Joseph smith’s and many other’s practice of it does not make it any more acceptable to me. It is something that has no place in any religion, culture or country. It is still practiced in modern times by many people, but not without consequence and due criticism. And, that’s just the first hurdle to get past when addressing the LDS church.

      If you're not a believer in the Bible it's useless you watch this video or that someone explain you why Joseph Smith practiced polygamy. It's inside the Bible concepts that we find a justification for this anomalous practice of 19th century inside LDS movement.

      I used to, I was brought up that way, but the whole idea of a supreme creator, or “god” sort of went away with Santa Claus and the Easter bunny. I never did believe in the tooth fairy. I’m not at all superstitious, don’t believe in ghosts, angels or other supernatural entities. I don’t take issue with religion, in general, belief systems are personal, but a
      “church “ born out of polygamist leaders couldn’t be more cult-like. It just reminds me of many cults in recent history that ruined many, many lives. Jim Jones, David Koresh, Joseph DiMambro, Shoko Ashahara, etc. I have a long list of reasons to reject the belief in gods.

    Wrong again. I appreciate that you are taking the teachings of Don Bradley and Brian Hales and just condensing them but you are continuing to spread misinformation. Two things, Isaac did not practice polygamy. This is crystal clear in the Bible and is a major reason to question D&C 132. Second, the majority of Joseph’s first wives (per Brian Hales) were not married. This is a more recent explanation to make polygamy sound less abhorrent but it’s not true. According to Hales, six of the first ten Nauvoo wives were not married.

      Isaac didn't practice polygamy? Are you referring to Isaac, the son of Abraham, who was concurrently married to Leah, her sister Rachel, and a handmaid each, or is there another biblical "Isaac" I'm missing? Just curious.

    Thank you for a couple of interesting facts and thoughts, mixed with a bit of Bible literalism. The short answer still is, If you think Mormon polygamy was entirely separate from lust I've got a bridge to offer you. However, it is true BY at least (I don't know about JS) sealed men to himself as well as women.Those early saints believed the 2nd Coming was imminent. Their lives had been upended, neighbors and property lost. A savage wilderness awaited. In such trauma, getting sealed into BY's family must have been a comfort.

    • @woodystube1000
      @woodystube1000 6 дней назад +1

      Great points. Members today seem to completely ignore the fact that almost every LDS prophet since JS has divinely proclaimed the Second Coming would occur within the lifetime of those alive at that time. The term “Latter-day Saint” was a direct reference to this belief. How many followers would JS have had if he called them “Pre-Latter-Day Saints”?

    It's interesting when we have to define and interpret words, especially words like "objective" and "factual". I've noticed, especially in lds apologetics, that these words have an extremely broad interpretation and use. It's also very interesting to see this living oxymoron of a you tube channel, an apologetics channel for the lds church that claims to share factual information while consistently and continually supporting "a win for satan" by claiming the name of the religion as mormonism. Almost as if the creators of this channel know the true problems of this institution....

      @@giuliom3564 If you want to split hairs, Pres Nelson wants it to be referred to as the “LDS church” which stands for ”Latter Day Saints.” He expects members to replace “I’m Mormon” with “I’m LDS,” and even call themselves “LDSers.” Ironically, his reasoning is that the church is about Jesus Christ and he should be the focus of the church’s name…but Jesus’ name and initials are not even included in “LDS.” By Nelson’s reasoning, shouldn’t members say, “I’m CJSLDS”? As a side note, I have always had difficulty referring to someone as a “Saint” who has done nothing more for the good of others than become a member of the church. Perhaps the term has completely lost all meaning.

      Please consider checking out the truth claims of the Catholic Church. If the Great Apostasy never happened, then the Catholic Church is the church founded by Christ, still holding the Keys of authority from Christ and Jesus promised the gates of Hell would not prevail against the church.

      I'm so sorry Brad. I don't think there is a true church, most organized religion is corrupt and usually ends up being a sex cult at the top (see the many Catholic Popes and priests having hookers frequent their offices - we have evidence of this happening throughout history but recently I think the Catholics have cleaned up.) The best that can be done is to seek inner peace and use the tools available to us to find spiritual community.
