  • Want thicker hands? Well, it is possible. The hands are built in multiple ways and I’ve come up with 3 theories on how to do so:
    1: Directly train the muscles of the hands
    2: Wolfs Law through direct contact
    3: Wolfs Law through indirect contact
    This video will show some of the hand building workouts that I do and have personally seen hand growth results doing.
    The hands have multiple muscles, but aren’t just built by the muscles, they are also thickened through a theory called Wolfs Law or bone remodeling. The more stress, punishment and load that is put on the bones, they will adapt to the load over time and become bigger, stronger and thicker.
    This may be the best explanation for thicker hands on RUclips. Enjoy!

    I tried the hammering exercise and accidentally hammered directly on my hand. It swollen markedly and immediately became super thick

    My age 71yr old having working on building sites for 50yr years as a joiner and going to the gym and doing bare knuckles planks on a wooden floor I never thought about my hands

      It's funny you mention that. I look at my grandfathers hands. He is 88years old now. Retired from construction trade at 76 years old. His hands are thick and hard. I've always admired it because to me, I see the years of hard work in those hands. I see sacrifice and love in those hands. Now, they don't move as well as they used to, but I appreciate what his hands did for our family.

    Hard physical labor for long hours, over many years. My grandfather was born in the mid 1880’s, on a small farm. He started milking cows by hand twice a day, at the age of five. He milked 5-10 cows per day for the next seventy years. That man had hands and arms like Popeye. At that time in history, everything on a farm at that time required strong hands, arms, abs, and backs.

    10:35 those microfractures heal by cells called "osteoblasts" are recruited to the site of the fracture. Osteoblasts are responsible for synthesizing new bone tissue,then they lay down new bone material, which eventually bridges the gap in the fracture and restores the structural integrity of the bone.

    I very much appreciate the explanation of wolf’s theory. I’m just a fan/observer of arm wrestling since the start of 2020, but the sport as a whole is fascinating.
    It’s very different from other combat/strongman sports and requires some simplicity yet nuance.

    Ever heard of turkish Ottoman-slap? :) Ottomans had a special unit that only trained to kill or disable a person with just one single slap! These guys were chosen and started slapping marble etc from very early age. They had massive hands. Recommend you to take a look at this interesting history, it relates to this topic :)

    Im a blacksmith by training and fabricator by work. I also have competed in grip strength and still training it now.. for sure all of those build hands, But nothing compares to direct gripwork. Heavy grippers, fat bars, vertical bars, bending nails and pinch. What i would add is a small rubber ball, size of a golf ball and squeeze it between your thumb and index finger. Great video bro! Keep it up

      When I was young I helped my father do construction. Those asphalt shingles did as much for hand strength as using plates.

    some studies have already proven that high frequency vibration can lead to bone growth. so whenever your hand absorb vibration after a hammer strike for exemple, this will lead to a slow bone growth. time and consistency.

    I've was an electrician and now a mechanic and im a pretty big guy who lifts alot and stronger than average guy but on every job site or in every garage theres always a guy whos never lifted who makes me feel like a little girl when it comes to strength.     Strength of grip is key to health and long life. Many people judge a persons health by their handshake strength. Strong grip leads to a l9ng l8fe.

      ..........and many people also seem to enjoy putting excessive force into a handshake for maximum effect😂. One of the strongest grips I ever met was a blacksmith with fingers like bananas and wrists as thick as many a forearm but his handshake was decidedly feminine. Some people feel the need to impress, some don't need to.

    My dad has massive hands of steel from his job doing shoe repair all his life and hammering stuff and basically doing a lot of these exercises shown here through using his tools on the shoes. He has some lf the strongest hands I've ever seen.

    Here's my experience with doing this with the hand gripper, I've trained around 1.5 months doing this 3-5 times a week depending on how my wrists feel. (I'm injured now, I have to put a pause on training lol). When washing dishes, I used to stick my hand at the bottom of the cup to clean the bottom, nowadays my hand can barely fit in the cup hahaha. My hand has gotten noticeably thicker, and stronger. Good luck with your journey and pay close attention to how your wrist and fingers feel.

    I do hundreds of palm strikes outer edge strikes finger tip and grasping strikes on all different sized trees at home. I noticed that both the palm muscles fattened up and got more pronounced musculature. This also improved the overall flexibility of my fingers and hands in general.
    This is part of my martial arts training.
    Good clip love all of the machines your using it’s interesting how arm wrestlers work on way different muscle groups to everyone else.

    Entrenar los dedos específicamente es la mejor manera de fortalecer toda la mano en general, incluso antebrazo.
    El único inconveniente con golpear concreto o la pared es que crea cayo en los nudillos que estéticamente se ve muy desagradable con el tiempo, sería más interesante forrar una madera con goma dura o algo así.

      And yes, I would do the gripper work as much as possible. You will know if your over training if you start getting tingly hands, at that point just take a couple days rest, allow the inflammation to go down and get back to it.

    My opinion (as a 20 year grip enthusiast) is it really comes down to genetics with respect to the size of your hand. I’ve smoked huge hand guys (mine are 2xl range) and have been smoked by smaller hands, as well.
    You can certainly get stronger, but making your hands huge by using cheap grippers is reaching. If you’re arm wrestler or a grip guy, focus on your sport and worry less about the size of your hand as getting stronger in lifts will do more for you than this will.

    The iron palm training will make your hands bigger, but using a cinder block is a pretty advanced place to start. A rice filled canvas bag is generally regarded as the starting point by most folks who are coming at it from a Kung fu or karate background. Anyway, great video, and cheers for being one of the only guys I’ve seen introduce folks to Wolff’s Law in a video like this. Disregard the bizarre number of negative comments here, they’re from people who enjoy having unconditioned hands. lol

    I have a pair of those cheap grippers that I can easily do 50 reps with, but the exercises you showed are difficult!!! I can't even do ten. I almost threw them away.

    Great video ! Mechanic and martial artis here and i approve of everything. And If you want really significant gains then you gotta do what the guys with the thickest hands on the planet do, which are rock-climbers and to a lesser extend farmers in 3rd world countries with no machines ... I've seen skinny rock climbers with bear paws and i've been to india and saw farmer grandmothers with hands like gorillas ... it's easy to make a workout protocol like rockclimbers without actually going rockclimbing, same goes for farming, be creative :)

      I've also noticed that breakdancers have really thick wrists and hands and they do a lot of movements with their hands flat on the ground. My younger brother has almost the same frame as i do but way thicker wrists and hands and he has been breakdancing since he was 12 years old . I am a mechanic and I do martial arts and have really hard and muscular veiny hands but my brothers hands are bigger and his wrists too. Another youtuber proved this theory right and increased his wrist size with flat-hands-on-ground exercises.

    Great Tips! The irony is that the process or work to make these two machines is actually the kind of workout you need for thicker hands and is the best. Once I asked my good friend to make me something for grip training and then I realised wait, the work he has to do to make that grip tool is actually the best type of working out for grip, thicker hands, bigger fingers....

    Framers use Wood handles if you hammer a lot the metal and plastic reverberates and can create tendinitis in the elbow. Great content and Blessings to You and Yours!

    I somewhere read that using lighter grippers and more repetition is going to increase the size of the tendons and ligaments. As the fingers are made of bones and tendons this kind of training should make your fingers thicker. Whats your opinion on that and or do you have other advices for making also your fingers thicker?

      I think that pinch machine can make the fingers thicker. Just using regular grippers I don’t think will make them thicker. Hangboard training can make them thicker

    I can confirm construction is a really good method for thicker hands, even using a driller and impact gun makes your thumbs thicker

      That's true. You would nearly know by looking at someone's hands what they work at. Most Construction and Farming lads have big hands. I worked with an old stone Mason and christ his hands were huge. No need for the lump hammer ( almost ) 😂😂😂

    Having thick hard hands do some chainlink cutting with regular pliers! Also nail bending the last thing for thickness would be grippers

      @@KevinPalkoArmwrestling I work a pretty hard blue collar job and have for a long time. I’ve often wondered why some of the other guys have thicker hands. Genetics must have something to do with it I guess? Hand muscles are sore lots of times too after extra difficult shifts. I think I’ll try some of the variations you showed for how to use a hand gripper

      Yes. I’ve actually never done iron palm personally. I know there is a correct way to do it to avoid injury

    I work for a living. I move 20-30,000 pounds a day. Have for 25 years. Get paid to do it too. No need for a gym or exercise equipment.

    You can gain some size, and obviously get stronger grip. But the size of the hand is similar to the wrist.. the size and thickness depends on genetics.

      Wrong. The tendons in your fingers can become thicker. That's why rock climbers have thick hands

      The human body can and will adapt to literally anything. If you do the right shit, your hands and forearms will definitely grow and yes even bone composition/density can change along the way

      I've been doing grip work for several years. My forearms have gotten bigger but I dont think my hands have. I have a video of my dad from when he was 16 and he had big hands even back then, he was naturally big boned.

      @@nicholasstarcher3460 Your hands cannot physically grow larger, but your fingers can become thicker. Most grip work doesn't directly target the finger tendons in the same that rock climbing does.

    i dont have any thing of these except the handgrip is it gonna make my fingers thicker or not and if not do you have any suggestions for making them thicker with dumbbells?

      Just using grippers, probably won’t make the fingers much thicker. Just not enough stress on them. One thing I could suggest with dumbbells is just dripping them and rolling them down onto the fingertips. Look up “Devon Larratt Grip” you’ll see what I mean

    I would like to point out that hitting objects does not make your bones stronger.
    Wolff law mentiones that you remodel throught stress wich is correct but the only thing proven to increase bone density is actually strenght training, this is because the muscles contract to generate force and when they contract it pulls the tendons wich conect muscles and tendons and this causes bone growth and can only continue to grow stronger muscles through progressive overload wich doesn't translate into hitting things, even if you try to hit harder, your muscles will only contract as hard as your grip strength allows.
    Microfractures also don't heal stronger, to summarize there are cells in your body that breakdown bone tissue and build it back called osteoclast and osteoblast, if you give yourself microfractures the osteoblast have to fix that on top of the normal damage produced by osteoclast and won't be able to keep up.
    The great news here is that literally everything else you are doing does increase bone density, so regardless if you do the brick slapping or not you will end with very strong bones.
    Last note in the clip you used the chinese guy had a very big hand and some might point out that thais do a lot of shin conditioning.
    When you hit hard things you can create internal injuries wich as they heal can develop scar tissue wich makes the area feel bigger and stronger but is only a small layer of protection on the iniured area and wil, dissapear once it heals, but if you keep it up for long enough you can sustain the internal scar tissue wich results in the big deformed hand and the hand will be hard but you basically crippled your hand for a portion of the benefits of normal strenght training.
    As for thais, strenght training, running and plyometrics are proven to increase bone density and combat sport athletes tend to do a lot of that.
    Btw a plyometric exercise from traditional kung fu that is genuinely great for grip strength is grabbing a bag of sand, toss it and catch it, they also do gripping jars wich is genuinely great for finger strength.

      Nah. That's rubbish mate. I have hit a bag full of ball bearings for 10 years and my bones are 30 times stronger. I can use my hands to hammer wooden posts into position like a sledgehammer with no damage

    Extensor work like rubberband around your finger tips definitely hits the tendons, which also thicken, but also especially the pinky finger muscle, as it’s so short it’s already mostly straight and extended, where the other fingers are opening to straighten, so it’s working almost entirely the abductor.

      @@KevinPalkoArmwrestling got on Amazon recently a big pack of Alliance 2.5”x1/2” bands, I use after towel hangs mostly. They sell assorted widths cheap which is nice going to use on spring clamps too.

    Hi on my right hand I just used gripper normally and it got thicker. But by training arm wrestling with martial art belt can that increase thickened also? And is there exercises to make the ridge below the fingers thicker?

    Hey brother so I have 2 questions. Interested primarily in thickening fingers as well as palm and wrist. What should be the training frequency and recovery? Currently using steel gripper and a stress ball to build pads in hand. Also using wood covered book and knuckle push-ups and punching and spiking fingers into rice bucket for the direct contact Wolfe law.

      So the fingers are going to be a lot harder to thicken because there are no muscles in the fingers. I would suggest buying a rock climbing hand board and training that 1x per week, until you can build up to using it more often. It puts incredible stress on the tendons
