Ounahi should definitely get a big shout who has been phenomenal
Ounahi was better than Ziyech in this tournament IMO.
@@WorisonTV same
@@WorisonTV My unpopular opinion is that Ounahi was better than Sofyan Amrabat...
@@becksdennis8339 ounahi is better at attacking. Amrabat is better at defending
@@MuhammadUsman-mi4jk that's very true tbh
Of those you didn't mention, I'd only add:
Bono for Morocco, excellent distribution and didn't concede to an opponent until the semi final. Molina for Argentina has been excellent at right back and right wing back. Then a couple of veteran goalscorers stood out in the group stage, Valencia of Ecuador and Aboubakar of Cameroon.
Edit: I forgot Doan for Japan, super sub of the tournament.
Livakovic just had better performances, Bonou had a great tournament but not conceding is a team effort, he save much less than livakovic.
Mechanised goblins
Rashford wasn't super sub of the tournament? He had 3 goals in about 40 minutes
Definately the super sub of the tournament 🇯🇵
@@haimainjauo242 I'm a huge admirer of Rashford and he had a great world cup but I wouldn't say he had a super sub role. He did score against Iran after coming on as a sub but he started the Wales match he scored twice in. With Doan, the goals and energy he brought against Germany and Spain completely swung the momentum of both matches for Japan.
Shoutout to Livakovic and Szczęsny for their performances in this WC
And bonou too
Yasin bonu entered the chat
Szczesny bugged me for conceding that penalty on a missed punch. Shaky outside of saves.
If Alex was here he still would’ve somehow picked Sangare
Ivan Perisic is timeless. The work rate on the defensive end and the chances created/assists going forward were invaluable to Croatia. The man is a specimen. Feel he at least deserved a nod to be on a bench since Mbappe was being selected for the same forward position.
A genuinely two footed player too. Which is rarer than a lot of gosbhite pundits (like Rio) would think. They don't realise as they're always incorrectly saying players x,y,and z are two footed if they ocassionally whack it with their wrong foot (like Greenwood would do).
That’s a good shout. He really is. He’s not aging either. He still looks the same. Something in the water in Croatia I guess. Their work rate is always phenomenal.
@@highnoon7097 I watch Spurs and he takes corners and free kicks with both feet. Could probably take a penalty on either peg too.
@@Boomtowndogs yeah I noticed a left foot corner that led to a goal recently, think it was against Marseille and was like wait I'm sure he's right footed
Mohammed Kudus deserves a shoutout. Sure he didn't make it out of the group stages but I think he was brilliant in all three games he played.
JJ choosing 2 england players is making me doubt if he is scotish or not
2:59 Quantity of pointless passes is not how you measure a centre back's worth. Sure, Rodri might have had more passes than any other centre-back but that sure didn't help Spain beat Morocco, Japan or even Germany. Poor choice for centre back. Saiss for Morocco, Stones for England, Souttar for Australia, Yoshida for Japan, Talbi and Meriah for Tunisia, hell even Harry Maguire was more impactful
yeah passing sidewards 1000 times when the other team are sitting back is hardly a sign of quality. your average youtuber could do that
Over 1000 passes and 83% possession vs Japan and they lost. I quite enjoyed that match... except for when Spain had the ball 🤣
But like he said, it's also his progressive passing that he's leading on. So it's not pointless, you just made that up
@@isboredandonline thing is being a CB you will make a lot of passes even more so when you team has a 1000 passes. Granted he also got good passing
mf really said talbi and meriah lmao
Morocco’s young midfielder Ounahi was my number one revelation in this WC.
Right?! Crazy he's not getting any shouts
Ounahi is not in because Tifo have to fill in the Englishman quota. Enzo would have been fine also tho. He will win the young player award after all, over Bellingham, and basically turned the Argentina's entire tournament on his head, after being subbed on. Benfica didnt even win against 2nd division opposition today when he was not there.
Over who? Modrić? Griezmann? Ambrabat???
@@rokomarkov3077 I said 'revelation' as in young player! he's only 22 yrs old. Modric is a veteran star whom I admire a lot. Amrabat is top-notch and so is Griezmann, but again, I was not talking about well known players🙂
@@mdrmaxdr6913 oooohhhh ok sorry
Harry Souttar deserved more of a shout out. I thought he was phenomenal
Will have to wait until Seb's team
Was searching for this comment on the vid. Definitely one of the best CB's this tournament. My other shouts for best CB's include Zimmerman and Ake, both who I felt were phenomenal. Aguerd would've been there if not for his injury
Morocco goal keeper and defence were tight! World class!
Yeah indeed
People forgetting before the france game only conceded a own goal. Ageurd/Saiss were solid and their injuries cost Morocco. Strongly belive if they were fit Morocco could actually be in the final tomorrow
@@ael100 mazraoui was not fully fit either and replacements for all three of those were much worse quality and from much worse leagues
Unsure on JJ’s reasoning for Martinez. If the penalty shootout was what hit him in then what about Bono who also won a shootout or Livakovic who won 2?
I can't remember now, but did Martinez make any errors which led to goals? I think Livakovic conceding 3 vs Argentina, plus giving away the PK (maybe harsh of me) made me disreagrd his shout. Perhaps I am wrong. Bono too was great, but he also seemed to make an error in the semi-final vs Theo Hernandez.
@@primocalcio2141 cause that was never penlty....
Martinez won two shootouts, and pulled off multiple important saves, including a couple of one on one saves. Particularly the ones vs Australia and France.
Martinez over Livakovic is mental.
Rodri is a stats pick, plenty of teams were happy to let Spain have the ball in their half which padded his numbers.
Hernandez nightmare against Saka keeps him out of the Best XI for me.
Ounahi is the midfield engine of a fantastic Moroccan side.
Greizmann has clearly been playing in midfield, not controversial at all.
You lost me at Rodri for CB lol
hipsters pick
He played cb for Spain
He lost me when i read the comment "You lost me at Rodri for CB lol" before watching the video
Yeah as much as I love lucho I think he messed up in this tournament
Any of the center backs who are playing the final should be chosen before Rodri, but Otamendi is the one who has made the difference to me
Ounahi definitely in my midfield
I'll definitely take out Bellingham or Modric for Ounahi!!!
@@nattshiimi1517 yes Bellingham did so much against the first big team France he came up against

Otamendi has been good this WC so far. Instead of Rodri I would choose him.

Otamendi by a country kilometre, good old fashioned defending and a great tournament. Progressive headers.
Great video btw, as always.

A few players that stood out for me that weren't mentioned:
- Behich for Australia - Was very consistent and nearly scored a goal of the tournament contender against Argentina
- Casemiro - If it wasn't for Amrabat I think he would be the best DM of the tournament. Unsurprisingly so good in a team that placed a lot of responsibility in him.
- Davies for Canada - Obviously Canada didn't do great, but Davies was so good in all the games I saw. Dragging the team forward in a role which had him perform so many different actions for his team all over the pitch.
- all of the USA's midfield - all adept technically, physical and brilliant in the press.
- Bounou for Morocco - In my view the best keeper in the tournament. Some incredible saves.
- Molina - Always provided some width in an Argentina that really lacked any, and was pretty dangerous when moving into central areas as we saw with the goal against the Netherlands.
- Harry Maguire - as a United fan this is in part bias, but I felt he was among England's best players. Didn't have the highs of Bellingham or Saka but was so consistent, the relatively ropey first 20 against Senegal aside.
Replace Maguire with Mohammed Kudus and I'd agree 💯
@@clintonbrills834 why not both?
Definitely think Adams and Musah should’ve been in there, especially Adams. He was our best player and we would be nothing without him this tournament
No musiala? Hahaha
Musiala deserves a shout. He was fantastic for Germany
Livakovic/Bono - T.Hernandez, Gvardiol , Otamendi, Hakimi - Amrabat, Modric, Griezmann, Messi - Mbappé, Giroud
He doesn't belong in the Team of the Tournament, but Minjae Kim really caught my attention. He doesn't particularly stand out at Napoli - maybe because I'm too distracted by Kvaraskhelia - but he's a great defender. Wonderful positioning, strong, great with his feet.
Kudus, Musah, Doan, Mitoma, Bono and Ecuador's young core also deserve a shout
Did you really think he had a good world cup? I'd say the opposite is true, he's excellent for Napoli but was quite obviously injured/ half fit for the world cup.
Lots of Arsenal goalkeepers in these teams. Except the actual current Arsenal number one goalkeeper, of course.
Tbf Otamendi is having an incredible WC. I'd have selected him instead of Rodri
Imagine not putting one of the moroccan cb there (Saïs,Aguerd)?! The team that have a historical defense..this is ludicrous if you ask me!
I really like the underrated pick of kim jin su. He actually just assisted one goal but was very good throughout the tournament.
What is Rodri doing there?!!

CB - Gvardiol
CB - Saiss
LB - Perisic

Amrabat
Tchouameni
Greizmann
Mbappe
Giroud
Messi
This is actually a really good line up.
That tilted Moroccan flag is quite spooky tbh
GK: Livakovic

Szcesny-T. Hernández, Gvardiol, Rodri, Dumfries - Bellingham, Amrabat, Bruno Fernandes - Messi, Valencia, Neymar is my 1 player per nation team
A great LB who could have made into the 1 player per country sides was Pervis Estupiñan for Ecuador.
He was absolutely amazing both offensively and defensively
that's a great shout
Well thought...he was legendary for ecudor
True he was very good. Ecuador was impressive unlucky to not make it out of the group.
fullbacks its got to be the Morocco Duo 💯💯💯💯💯💯
attiyat-allah was built different, he is an instant impact player, he's a defensive minded fullback who always finds the right time to go up, if he had better finishing he would've definetly been in the best XI of the world cup despite being a sub
It would be great if the TiFo brains could do a deep dive on Amrabat, explain the what and how of why he's so good.
No shout for Azzedine Ounahi? Rather interesting, I reckon he was better than most of the midfielders mentioned in this video + his metronomical connection with Sofyan Amrabat was a load of the reason Morocco were so good in this tournament.
Really enjoyed this. Would love in future to watch the two analysts draft players live in front of one another and then suggest whose team would win and why. Also fun to see who gets the shoo-in players first and who needs to adapt on the fly.
Livakovic
Dumfries - Saiss - Gvardiol - Mazraoui
Modric - Amrabat - Griezmann
Messi - Giroud - Mbappe
Bench: Bounou - Marquinos - Hakimi - Bellingham - Alvarez - Richarlison
I think Szczęsny should at least be in the conversation for best goalkeeper he single handedly dragged Poland out of groups
100% best goal keeper of the tournament.
He was knighted by a few English commentators when he played for Arsenal. They called him Sir Szczęsny!
Mbappe has been silent through the knockouts but Alvarez has been absolutely destroying. Alvarez is not getting nearly enough mention for his role in the Argentina attack
I like how straight off the bat they give to Emiliano Martinez just off a sheer popularity. Man has conceded 5 goals in 6 games
Martinez over Livakovic/Bono? Rodri over Gvardjol/Saiss/Aguerd? Really bold picks in this one 😅

As a moroccan, I feel slightly offended!
But the biggest slight is not mentioning Bounou, our national hero 😆
I think genuinely the only change I'd make is to take out Bellingham and Modric and put in Enzo Fernández. His presence added both stability and functionality to Argentina's midfield, and they looked much more composed in the middle when he's played
Fernandez wasn't even Argentina's best midfielder. I'd say it was De Paul. Bellingham was fantastic and Modric is just a freak of nature at 36.
@@areebsiddiqui758 de Paul was whack in Argentina first two matches. Then when they play Enzo in the 6 role , the Argentine mf stabilised
I dunno was Bellingham that impactful? There’s no doubt he’s very good, but I just think that as soon as England plays against a quality team like France he was invisible. I personally think he doesn’t have the nerves or experience yet.

I'm honestly stumped on the GK of the tourney. Martinez did great in the PKs vs Nederlands but other than that has not been spectacular. His Whoscored rating is quite low (6.48) and he's averaged only 0.7 saves per game, yet has conceded 5 goals in 6 games.
Bounou held the tightest defence at the WC until the semi-finals, then perhaps made an error on Theo Hernandez's all-important opening goal. His Whoscored stats are likewise unimpressive (6.50, 1.2 saves per games), but he did feel like a safer pair of hands than Martinez.
Livakovic was a clear standout, with a higher Whoscored rating (6.71) and making 3.4 saves a game. However, he also conceded 5 goals in 6 games. He was heroic in the PKs vs Japan, though I think he may have made a mistake against Neymar in the QFs with the way he came out, and potentially made another mistake that led to the PK and opening goal vs Argentina in the SF.
Szczesny, honestly, is who I am leaning towards. His Whoscored rating is overwhelmingly the best (7.88), and he made an astonishing 5.8 saves a game, including two penalty saves. The Pole's claim only suffers because of a R16 elimination and 5 goals conceded in only 4 games played.
It's not a perfect evaluation, but it's clear that goalkeeping standards at this tournament are nowhere near standards set by Kahn 2002, Buffon 2006, Casillas 2010, or Neuer 2014.
Love that you do both team variants !!
Very strange but very fulfilling as a Fiorentina fan to see Amrabat feature so strongly here and among popular opinion! Don't think he'll stay after this but it's just fun to see
Whoever scouted him for your team really did their homework. What a player. I hope you get a proper payout whenever he goes to another team but I am glad you got to see him shine on the world stage.
Fiorentina has always been a good italian team
@@hamzagayardi498 by what standard? They haven’t won anything in 20 years.
@@doc-t-8648 I meant good historically, and it's just a compliment. I should've wrote big instead of good. They have a big fan base, good facilities and have few hidden gems in their squad. They are midtable at the moment, but they can come back to their heights soon hopefully. I do agree that Amrabat deserves a way better team like Man City or Liverpool, 100%. He is litterally in everyone's best XI of the World Cup. Amrabat is the best DM in the world right now, no question about that (the only one in mind that could compete is Kante, but he's injured and wouldn't probably come back to his prime).
@@hamzagayardi498 I would say this is a fair assessment! If I were to compare achievements/prospects of Fiorentina in Serie A, I would say they're quite similar to West Ham? Not as an exact comparison of course, but just that they're a big club that could either challenge for UEL/UECL places one season and languish in mid-table another season haha - players like Amrabat are often the difference between those kinds of seasons

idk if I'd put rodri in there. he played many passes but didn't stand out for spain, also didn't do much to stop his side from conceding goals. he basically did the same thing busquets did, just at centre back. that doesn't warrant a place in the TOTT for me.

LB: Theo Hernandez
CB: Gvardiol
CB: Romero
CDM: Rodri
CM: Modric
CM: Enzo Fernandez
RW: Messi (🐐🐐)
LW: Julian Alvarez
ST: Mbappe
My reasons: Emi Martinez was class in 2022, he kept 3 clean sheets but should have had at least 5 if it weren't for defensive mistakes by Otamendi, Nahuel Molina has also been brilliant making great tackles, creating space and chances and overall being a menace to opposing right sided players, Theo also gets in with amazing defensive displays and a up lifting goal to send France to back to back WC finals, in midfield, Rodri played the tournament of his life he should easily get in, Modric still at 36-37 is playing like he's 25 with brilliant passing and great vision, Enzo has been the breakout star of the tournament with a blinder against Mexico and 2 assists including one in the final, he played amazing football. In attack it has to be Alvarez, 4 goals and 2 assists in just 6 games, on the right, it had to be Messi, 7 goals and 3 assists including a brace in the final he was himself, as ST I can't look past Mbappe, who's stopping him, Richarlison? 8 goals and an assist he carried France to the final.

Modric - Amrabat - Griezmann
Saka - Messi - Vini Jr.

I'm surprised that no one picked Nico Otamendi.
Livakovic was by far the best keeper at the tournament. Bonou and Scezeny were also better than Martinez. A couple of good penalty saves doesn't make him the best keeper of the tournament.
Jay Jay and Jon are my favorite Tifo presenters
When did JJ bull get so good at predicting the future - "his penalty saves, Martinez, are enough to get him in my starting 11, because he's basically won that for them"
I think someone forgot to INSERT VIDEO SPECIFIC BLURB in the description
Like the video guys, but a bit of an error on the Korean player who Jon picked at LB: he only assisted one of the goals for Cho Gue Sung (first assist was from Lee Gang In) and it happened in the game that they lost (3-2 against Ghana), not where they came back to qualify (2-1 against Portugal...). Keep up the great videos!
