The return line comes off the pump because it has a set pressure for fuel, what ever the engine doesn’t take the pump returns it to the tank.
The 7.3 always has slight hesitation cranking that’s just a 7.3 thing
I liked the bottom sump style on my truck don't have to worry about anything failing gravity feed
A hydra tuner with sdk tunes man is a legend with 7.3 tuning
Your gonna have to hook up the factory fuel pump. The fass only gives you 45psi the 7.3 needs between 50-60psi. Deal with this on a daily. Once you drive it you will see that it will bog down
So the banana ram was been my most favorite build you’ve done thus far. That truck just looked smooth as hell…I only ask this as a long time viewer…do another one. I know you may not want too…but a B-RAM 2 build would be awesome. Or a build that color…like maybe the bronco???
We changed the wiring harness to the injectors on my step dads 1996 7.3 and it starting running like brand new he was having loss of power and rough idling

I had to back up the video when that filter popped out. While it was funny. I didn't know how it sprung out. I'm gonna be looking into a diesel this year and knowing about things like this, will help when fixing and upgrading.

I know that feeling , on always repair something in your 7.3 , I save a lot to get the best desent possible end I found it but is always something , a little bit disappointed
Should’ve gotten a sump, only use the factory connections as returns. But to each their own.
You’re over thinking it lol. You need your fass return, and your factory returns. Rear of the fass is the feed, bottom front goes to fuel bowl, upper front port goes to tank return. Then your factory return lines to tank stay. You’re also supposed to gut your factory fuel pump and only use it for the fuel level.
You keep your factory return on factory pump, and your factory feed is supposed to be used as a fass return.
I literally have H6 AGM I will give you if it will fit. It was used as a secondary for my audio. 6 months left on warranty from advanced auto. I live in Chardon

dont rev the engine when you at jumper c with battery's. it will destroy your alternator. remove first the jumper cable
The best Amp connection is to use cable ferrules instead of screwing onto the bare wire.

Good video man. You are right, there aren’t many video on this topic. I found that out too when building my fuel system haha. Couple things, 7.3s have a fuel regulator built into the stock fuel bowl. Any excess pressure above 55 psi ish will feed back to the tank. The stock pump pushes some pretty high pressure. That’s why you are keeping the stock return line too the tank. The fass has its own similar regulator built into it. That’s why it has its own return. One tip from someone has done this is to actually hook your fass relay trigger wire to the power wire to the stock pump on the rail instead of the key on fuse. That way you can run things like your sound system that need key on without having your fuel pump constantly running.

Ryan I would replace the fuel pressure return spring. It’s in the fuel bowl , no matter how much psi the pump is feeding the fuel bowl it’s gonna loose a lot of it if the spring is weak, and is letting it go back to the tank.

Just delete the fuel bowl altogether and install a regulator. There’s no need for that fuel bowl now that you have the fass. You’re just asking for leaks/issues out of the fuel bowl

the bed looks off to me, you might want to check your lines and compare it to factory, something looks off. Idk if it’s the spacing or the height but something looks funny.

Most likely the return off the fass pump is returning fuel that is not sent to the engine back to the tank. Your inlet side(suction side) will always be bigger to ensure you get enough fuel to the pump. Whatever fuel excess fuel that is not sent through the lines is then sent back to the tank from the return line off the fass. Video was very helpful! Definitely ready to put a fass on my 7.3!

Ram Filter change, I’ve found cycling the 10 times and it starts fine with my CAT filters in factory places and won’t die out. Tried it 5 times and it died out
If you want it to start quicker like the newer diesels. Can get a gear reduction starter but depending on which starter yours uses might need some slight sub frame cutting.
Get yellow top battery's and do the "big 3" upgrade for your grounds and power wire, an I've heard 6.7L starters bolt up good on the 7.3 and 6.0s
The denso unit is drop in and makes a 6.7 starter look weak lol

Just installed my Raptor last week. Much much simpler than what you just describe. Plus I opt’d for the harness that Y’s into the factory wiring for the stock lift pump to get the ignition “ON” signal 🤷🏻♂️

I'm going with the fleece powerflo lift pump for my ram. It seems like a much neater, straight forward setup. I already have a cat fuel filter and water separator kit, so I dont need the additional filtration.

Get a new glow plug relay to get it to start faster.
Should put a couple of the proper size XS Power batteries, and a Mechman alternator on the trucks with extra lights and systems and such, to ensure that the proper voltage ⚡ stays for the truck.

Hydra is imo the best tuner for a 7.3, especially if you end up getting upgraded injectors or upgrade the turbo in the future, because of the availability for custom tunes through these tuners. Jelibuilt performance from what iv’e understood is the way to go for tuning on 7.3’s, you can literally get tuning sent to your email, hook your laptop up to the hydra and transfer the tunes.

Problem is when someone writes installation instructions they have more than likely not installed whatever it is themselves.

You shouldn't have to jump that 7.3 so many times. Make sure your batteries are high output and in good shape, especially with the increased load from the subs. The stock alternators are a little low output and a higher output one is available.
Just by adding a new ground wire from the batteries to the frame, having 2 decently high CCA batteries, and a decent output alternator, that truck should start in an instant almost every time.
Electrical system upgrades are important and often disregarded.
I’m not sure about fass, I have Airdog on my 6.0 and love it install was a smoother than that fass looked. But your truck you can do what you want to it. Glad to see your finally building a power stroke though.
Does he use fluid film or something on his frame and suspension on his vehicles up there?

Thanks for making a video uncomplicating their instructions 😂. I’d suggest doing a CAT filter upgrade so on the water separator side you have the water drain right on the bottom of the housing and can drain it without removing the canister.
I’ll check back in another 27 uploads to see this truck complete.

Unless the injectors are just absolutely shot I wouldn't change them out, 7.3 factory injectors are actually much better thn aftermarket 1s and more durable
