  • In this video, you will how to make the perfect Haitian black AKA diri djon djon. It is one of the most popular Haitian dishes, and it is so delicious. You can make this rice simply with beans or you can add cashews to it like I did, you can make it with shrimp and blue swimmer crabs. For this recipes I used yellow rice from restaurant depot but you can any rice of your choice, basmati rice is a good rice to use. This rice may seem intimidated but it’s just as simple as any other rice and beans, you just need the right ingredients. Below you will find all the ingredients that I used. The mushroom maybe a little bit hard to find depending on the state you live in, but you’ll definitely find it in Florida. If you know someone that lives there have them buy it and ship to you.
    Haitian black dried mushroom
    Baby lima beans
    Yellow rice
    Epis (Haitian seasoning)
    Raw cashews
    Extra virgin olive oil
    Knorr chicken flavored bouillon
    Goya adobo
    Pink himalayan salt
    Irish butter
    Red bell pepper
    Scotch bonnet pepper
    Cloves
    Parsley
    Thyme
    Maggie cubes
    Jumbo crevette shrimp Maggi cube ( this can be purchased from amazon if not available at your local grocery store)
