I am a Lds. I was a southern Baptist and converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints and I have 100% believe in the book of Mormon and Joe Smith was a prophet and we are led by a living prophet today Russell Nelson and his 12 apostles and the 70 the church is so true, and I’m so proud to be a member with my wife and my family
I really enjoyed watching this and other recent videos with Scott Christopher. I love how they were on site at the old Smith family cabin, touring both the downstairs and the upstairs, and I love listening to Daniel Peterson talk about the events there that occurred 200 years ago. Since I'll probably never visit there in person, it's very nice to see it in this manner :)
I taught about the BoM today in Elder's Quorum. So to prepare, I listened to 3 different podcasts/interviews by Dr./Bro Peterson this week discussing BoM evidences! Dude is a font of knowledge; absolutely amazing! I learned so much from him to strengthen my testimony of the restoration, and I hope I was able to pass some of his great wisdom on to my class!
Not only can God make the other siblings stay asleep, we know from multiple testimonies that the grown men in the room (when Joseph and Sidney received the vision of the degrees of Glory) knew something was happening, but didn’t see a thing (of the vision…just the effects of Joseph and Sidney). God can definitely bring someone in or out of the veil.
There's some speculation, based on descriptions, that the plates were made from a mixture of metals, possibly including copper, which could contribute to a slight greenish hue. Tumbaga is a term used to refer to a metal alloy that was common in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. This alloy is typically a mix of gold and copper and sometimes includes other metals like silver. The proportion of gold and copper can vary, giving the alloy different appearances, including the potential for a reddish or greenish hue due to oxidation. Tumbaga was used by ancient American civilizations for a variety of purposes, including creating religious artifacts and decorative items. Given its use in Mesoamerica, some Latter-day Saint scholars have considered tumbaga as a plausible material for the gold plates, because this and similar alloys could explain the descriptions of the plates' appearance and their relative weight.
I was fortunate last year to accompany our Stake's youth conference on a visit to the Palmyra area (with a stop in Harmony, PA on the way). I was a wonderful opportunity for our youth to have spiritual experiences at the same places where the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ occurred. It was a wonferdul visit.
Was admittedly a little distracted trying to figure out which version of the First Vision was being presented. Looking forward to the Bainbridge Courthouse episode.
The gold plates if they were pure would be worth about $600,000. At best. The church paid $32 million for a few pieces of paper with some scribble on it. I would say what was written on the plates was more valuable than the metal itself by far
It is not given to them to know the mysteries of God and His kingdom (Matthew 13:11): Only those who have a close and continuous relationship with the Father and the Son will know the mysteries (Mark 4:11-12). For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. Most do not have the knowledge of God’s truth. They insist that Jesus is God, God has a mother, and that Jesus was never created even though Jesus himself says otherwise (Revelation 3:14). The Father will never reveal His mind to strangers that _do not know Him;_ only to those who are close to Him. Only those who come out of the world and become separate, and wait upon Him unceasingly will know the truth of the gospel.
Daniel Peterson God did not create the universe. The universe had already existed. That is why Joseph Smith told us that matter has always existed. But if you want that debate I'm ready anytime
The Book of Mormon has never been proven or validated, by historians or archeologists, not one artifact has been found from this supposedly ancient civilization. Not one.
I believe you didn't do your homework correctly. Although I don't need proof about the Book of Mormon, many studies and fascinating discoveries have been found, and I believe many more will come.
Also a book by Phyllis Carol Olive talks about artifacts in New York that may validate ancient civilizations such as the Book of Mormon people and era.
I truly love Dr. Danial Peterson. And Scripture Central. We are so blessed.
Agreed! Amazing wise man!!!

Same here. Active Baptist boy in 1972 that discovered this Gift to the world when I was 18. Served a mission and believe more today than ever….

I read somewhere that someone said that the gold plates had a green hue. That would indicate corrosion from copper alloyed with the gold.
I recently saw a video saying the same thing.

Just in terms of the metal the plates would have been worth around $1 Million(= or - $250K) in todays money. That's enough to tempt a RICH person.
😇🙏

Didn’t the family have a Bible when Joseph was younger? He had read James 1:5 when he was a teenager.
@@MrEyeist Yes, but when he began the translation of the book of Mormon he was married and had moved from his parents home.
You couldn’t have at least got an actor that looked somewhat like Joseph Smith?
God is not limited by a Bible. Truly Jesus can do marvelous work by coming forth of the Book of Mormon, that testify of Him as the God of Israel.
God told Smith to return in a year with Alvin.
God did not know that Alvin would die.
What accent is that? Never heard anything like it.

Matter existed. The universe did not.
@@ClintThomsen so you are saying that unless a few planets and stars exist then we cannot call it a universe.

The Book of Mormon has never been disproven or invalidated. Not once in over 200 years. Let that sink in.
