    Fair review. Ultimately, Tesla is only interested in mass market adoption, so MB and the rest of the luxury OEMs will continue selling in their own niche segments. Tesla is really going after Toyota and VW who are top car producers. I had a new fully loaded MB before I switched to my MYP and don't regret a thing. To each their own.

    I agree with the comparison. I enjoy my Tesla, but is in no way a perfect car. But the price makes it a great car 👍 - until the Danish car tax are rolled back in full, then it’s bye bye electric cars. And back to small cars. As we pay almost double the price of a car with our insane car taxes, that’s put on hold right now, due to focus on environment 😉

I wonder which bmw model you drove because I drove the x3 and it’s way better car than the model y in all levels. More comfortable, quieter cabin, more luxurious and settled, driving dynamics way better than the model y, the paint isn’t ruined after 1 week of ownership like in the model y, it doesn’t have panel gaps like the model y, it doesn’t rattle or squeaks after few months of ownership. I picked up my 2023 model Y long range two weeks ago, the day before I picked up my Tesla I went out and test drove the EQE 350+ SUV. My wife currently drives the 2022 GLB AMG and I have owned 5 different Mercedes in the past years. The EQE looks big when you first see it but when you get in it's very tight, the cargo is smaller compared to Tesla as well as the interior volume, seats are rock hard as always with German cars and the infotainment system is all over the place and not very intuitive. Driving comfort is very similar, I drove them back to back they are both amazing. 2023 Tesla model Y drives and handles much better, the acceleration is much smoother and responsive, if both were at $50k I still pick the Tesla model Y. I strongly recommend anyone in the market drive both before you make your decision.

      I owned a MYP for over 3 years - I completely disagree, the Mercedes drives, handles and performs better in every way except at the chargers. I can’t wait to get into my luxury SUV AMG trim with the hyperscreen. Rear axle turning - pretty sure Tesla doesn’t have that on the S,3,X,Y lineup. I’m loosing cargo space - that’s the biggest difference, but I have no kids - so who cares. I can get to the international airport on one charge there and back and the MYP I can’t do that with. I just waited until they said they are adopting NACS and that’s all that mattered. Here I come AMG - bye bye Tesla that never had multiple issues fixed in 23 service visits.

I have been a Mercedes buyer for twenty years, but only because I believed the product used to be superior. However, the quality of my most recent late model Mercedes purchase was disappointing, compared the older Mercedes I have bought. I have a now swapped this Mercedes to a Tesla model 3, made in China. From my own experience, the Tesla is better quality than the Mercedes I sold. The Tesla has a far superior paint finish, thicker body panels, and better handling and ride quality. And the Mercedes had air suspension (which failed had to be replaced under warranty after two years). This supposedly better type of suspension is a complete gimmick, in my opinion. The model Y is not really in that market with those as direct competitors. The Model Y is competing more directly with things like the Mach-E, the ID4, Blazer EV, EV6 and Ioniq 5. That is why for price and performance, I chose the Model Y, which I will pick up in a couple of weeks. If I had $80K to spend, the Model Y would probably not have been on the list. This comparison really should have been done between the Model X and the EQE. If that was the comparison, I would probably go with the Model X, because I really do not like the interior on that EQE.

    Looks nice, will look forward to getting into an Uber like this but too expensive for me to buy and I'm not into leasing.
    One thing about the future NACS-enabled cars, at the moment Tesla has only promised a fraction of their Supercharger network will be available for partner manufacturers to use. I think 30% or so, but i guess that might eventually go up. Still, for several years it will be a better experience for long range trips in a Tesla.

    • @identicloak
      @identicloak 10 месяцев назад

      You are talking about the Magic Dock for every other cars. But for those who have agreements with Tesla like Ford, GM, Mercedes, they will have access to 100% of the NACS SuperCharger network.

    • @nettlesoup
      @nettlesoup 10 месяцев назад

      @@identicloakI am referencing the announcements made each time by the manufacturer in conjunction with Tesla. E.g. Ford's announcement of "access to the largest network of fast-chargers in the U.S. and Canada with 12,000+ Tesla Superchargers" and similar by GM.
      There are almost 21,000 open Tesla Supercharger stalls in the USA alone. Canada has around 1,800, so combined USA + Canada is around 22,800 stalls.
      So, unless I'm missing something (please feel free to point out my mistake), I only underestimated the exact fraction; it's more like 55% of all USA + Canada Supercharger stalls available to Ford and others through these agreements. It's not clear if whole sites will be unavailable to partners but that's how it is currently in Europe for non-Tesla cars and we all use the same CCS2 connector, so that is likely how it will work in N. America too with NACS.
      There are some sites that are simply oversubscribed just with Tesla cars, so it might not make any sense for Tesla to allow Fords, GMs, Rivians, etc. to be able to charge at those locations too, at least for the foreseeable future. However, hopefully the additional investment that comes from these agreements will help Tesla manage and improve that situation over time.
      There is also a technical limitation of V2 and older chargers that are not CCS compatible. So until or unless those stations are upgraded, they will not be available to Ford, GM, etc. who will use the CCS protocol with the NACS connector.
      Ford, GM, etc... their apps will not show the Tesla Supercharger locations that are excluded from the partner agreement. But if owners just turn up at a Supercharger they see, thinking they can get a charge, they might be disappointed.
      On the flipside, the benefit for Tesla owners is that we hardly ever have to wait because Tesla manage this so well, at least if the European rollout is anything to go by.

    These Mercedes EQE’s and EQS’s have over the air updates too - so they can and will be adding more speed to the charging at DC fast chargers from what I’ve been told. So yes they are slower now, but once more superchargers open they will have to focus more on getting their cars cycled through chargers as fast as teslas. They adopted the NACS - so it’s all bound to be as simple as a Tesla is and have access fully to the same charging network. I’m making the switch from a Model Y Performance that I’ve owned for over 3 years. I tested one and found a used one for $30K off and it’s an AMG with the Dynamic Plus package too. You’re right you can’t compare the two - because the MYP is light years behind this beast and the ride quality is light years ahead with the Mercedes. The haters will be loving my interior as they all drool at it while I’m charging on their network. It claims less range - but gets more than the MYP and the AMG is faster too. This is going to be a blast to show off to all the Tesla fan boys. 😂

Granted, I would not put them in the same class either. Mercedes is definitely a luxury brand, and I would not say that about the Tesla. But for a normal working family, $40K is doable for a Model Y, especially when you are charging at home and saving the gas costs, vs a $78K price tag on the EQE.

You need to buy them in packages. Some packages contain some things that other packages don’t contain when people are buying their vehicles. Gets a give and take scenario in all things. . You must pay for all of them. Everyone compares vehicles to Teslas because Tesla‘s are the gold standard for all the other vehicles . Everything is compared to Tesla, because Tesla is by far the BEST. Hands down. There are flaws in Teslas like any other vehicle manufacturer, but overall there’s nothing any better. In all aspects from charging, software updates, to speed and acceleration and storage space, TESLAS are crazy unbelievable!!!!!

      A 2018 car that costs around 35k is definitely not comparable to a 50k Tesla. But I still bought the 2023 hybrid kia sportage at 35k, which is more comfortable and quieter than the model y, and decided to buy it after driving my girlfriend's model y for 1 month. I can tell you the Kia is way better than that thing. Model y really bad build quality overall, squicks, and rattles, The suspension makes the car twerk like a ho when going through little potholes; it's not comfortable when you actually drove a comfortable car you get how bad it is. I also tested the BMW x3; it's in a different league than the model y; it's way more comfortable, settled, and has way better-driving dynamics. It's a way better car on all levels except the seats, which are harder than model y. the kia was cheaper than both and was a better car than the model y, so why not go for it? Don't regret a thing. Another thing is because she charges at charging stations and not from home, she spends more on electricity than me on gas because her battery runs out even when the car is off, and with sentry mode on, she has to charge every few days. My gas doesn't run out, so I spend 30$ less on gas than her every month.

The quiet ride, distronic and adjustable suspension have radically improved my highway trips. At the moment Electrify America is sucking. But I’m doing most charging on a level 2 at home. I’ve spent some time in a friend’s Model Y and agree that it’s got a minimalist cool factor. But the EQE kills it for a premium, luxury interior feel. Worth the price difference? Probably not. But I’d make the same choice again. But perhaps wait for a model that has the NACS charging port. If you get a chance, try the 350 4matic with the acceleration increase add on option. With that option it’s now fast enough that passengers don’t really enjoy full throttle launches.
