      Totally agree with you. I was raised in HK and first time crossed the border to Shenzhen in 1985. I was a bit scared when I saw the PLA solders in traditional green uniform for the first time. I casually asked a waitress in a cafe her monthly salary was RMB 80 (compare with mine was high 4 digits HKD). And amazingly Shenzhen GDP bypassed HK last year in 2018, well done China!

      Didn't actually find any video on RUclips but has been to Tibet from Sichuan by car and the highways were built at the top of high mountains so that made them stay above the clouds. And I just searched that the high speed train to Tibet is still under construction. But there's normal train to Tibet where are built at the top or at the middle of the mountain. Btw, the reason why they don't build the railway or highway at the bottom is because it's gonna be highly risky to be destroyed by rock slides at the season where rain is plenty a lot. So even it's more costly. They built them at high place.

      Some of the background is that China's HSR effort began with imported trains, then "improved" versions which were of dubious originality. These were the original "Hexiehao" (Harmony Class) trains. Then these latest ones are the Fuxinghao (Rejuvenation Class), which was the ultimate goal of China to domesticate and own its own HSR technology. If these trains are as reliable as the older ones, then China's HSR tech has truly matured.

      @sandmanlee2283 5 лет назад +8

      But I just took Amtrak between DC and NYC weeks ago to see the cherry blossoms. Compared to the high-speed train I've ridden before in China, and I took a lot of high-speed trains in China when I was there, Amtrak is nothing bad. You can have better wifi, larger space, silent and peaceful atmosphere, and more comfortable seats and restroom. It is slower but if you're not in a hurry it'll be a quite enjoyable journey.
      In China, you'll have to pay for the first class seat to enjoy these. The price differs not much but based on the average income in China, it's not that affordable as in the U.S.

      Asia has long surpassed U.S. when it comes to travel. For instance, flying on any Asian airline these days, it's amazing the difference in level of comfort, service, and technology they offer. I travel a lot with high speed trains in china in past year I refuse to fly even. Because planes delay and affected badly by weather ....anyhow in china because of infrastructure in railway or subways many people do not buy cars now ( not worthy ). And I see in some American news ( Fox CNBC MSNBC etc) saying the Chinese economy slow down they don’t buy cars .....Hahhahaha. But the reality is the convenience of transportation in china Its very high level ! The only impediment is for a foreign is you have to Go to the ticket counter to pick Up your tickets Even If you order them online The automatic ticket machines are everywhere but can’t use passports on it. For Chinese citizens it’s way much easy and faster to move around. Very convenient for them .....367 km /h In general a 350/h cruise speed. And even 420 in some special trains. That’s what I see ! The coin can stand up if you put it near the window ! So smooth is !

      On the other hand, it is actually even worse than 1:10, at least in terms of building high-speed railways.
      From 2010-2020, there are 30000km HSR and 6000km Subway were built in China, did US+EU (maybe even add up rest of the world) newly build 3000/600km? I didn't google but probably not.

    Honestly, i'm so impressed. No, astonished, i should say. Totally mind-blowing. The average speed is 273 km/h !? That's by far much faster than any of my country's bullet train route. Even the fastest route, which is TOHOKU SHINKANSEN Line, it's only 238 km/h. When it comes to the busiest route, which is TOKAIDO Line, it has to fall up to as slow as 210-215 km/h.....
    Excellent job, China. Way to go !

    Wow, that’s convenient. A couple years back this service wasn’t available and I decided to take the slow train between HK and Shanghai it took a day and a half. I’ve been in the business class seats before and they’re nice. Service is really inconsistent on these trains but for the value price and convenience, that can be forgiven. I always found it strange that “business” is a class above first. I think unless you need to lay flat(ish) to sleep, First is a fine option, especially if you’re traveling with another person. It’s far less expensive.

      ASHWANI SHARMA and for the high speed trains, the quality of trains, the length of the total railways, and the operational speed of Chinese trains are way more ahead than any other country in the world. Chinese trains and railways are winning in any aspect than any other country. It’s like saying some Nobel prize winning research stole from an elementary school student’s home work. Not sure if that is meant to be hilarious. I guess it’s better to make sure you had such technology before claiming being stolen.
