Rarely in this blink-of-an-eye life are we, as people lucky enough to be touched and witness true greatness. I feel completely overwhelmed when I watch Sean play guitar. I have never in my life seen such true beauty in music, such a pure spiritual connection between a man and his guitar. Only guitarists will know what I mean. Such an unbelievable tragedy.
hands down, this was the best blues numbers I have ever heard PERIOD. Thank you Sean, and I hope your afterlife is a peaceful one, you are truly missed here on this earth brother
Thank GOD for my local radio station that has a blues show every Sunday night. Due to them I discovered this AMAZING artist. What an truly gifted artist he was.
Holy Shit. One of the best ever. So sad he's not with us. This should be required listening for everyone on the planet. I mean talent is talent. He is right up there with B.B., Fredward and Greeny. Play on Sean.
This is the best blues I have heard in a long time. It seems that the creativity in blues has come down to people playing all the old blues licks, (SRV, Joe Bonamassa, etc.) but I have never heard most of this completely original. Absolutely outstanding.
Faaaaarrrrrkk! No matter how many times I' ve watched this video. It always hits me right in the feels. Many thanks (Australia here) for sharing this. RIP Seany you absolute legend!
So right… I’ve commented on this vid more than once before. But I feel compelled again. So lucky someone caught this performance. Literally one of the greatest shows of lead blues playing ever. Every time I listen… I think holy shit that’s other worldly. And kid could sing too! Rest in soul Sean
I had a chance to see Sean when he was just 14 and a couple of times after that,I miss him dearly and to call him a musical genius is an understatement at best!!!! He was a purist in every sense of the word,no one else I've ever heard could squeeze a note out of a guitar like him or SRV,rest in peace my brothers
I've been a fan of the late, incredibly great Mr. Costello for years. But I listen to this tonight, and I think: mind = blown. Tone, technique, taste. Damn, the man had it all. Check out that work just after 4:10. His death was a terrible, terrible loss.
The world is / was filled with blues musicians, and musicians in general. Some are good, some are great, and some transcend so far above it all that the only conclusion is his/her talent is from God. That was Sean.
It's a shame. This video proves without a doubt that he's the best the blues guitarist we've seen in generations... I've only been at it for almost 2.5 myself, but I know exactly what you mean. I just feel his music 100%. It's just not describeable
It's a mystery, of what truly gifted people struggle with! My 23 year old son plays in our cover band and has the "magic touch" like Sean .....but that pesky brain plays tricks on us! we're good we're bad ....love Sean C was a new twist on the Duke Robillard tunes RIP
This is AWESOME !! Great version of this classic tune. I saw Sean long ago when he was backing Susan Tedeschi and then a couple years later when he came through Detroit. The dude just blew me away with his overall style. He was a natural and will truly be missed.
Have you ever stumbled onto a song on the radio and it blew you away so much so you can't rest until you find out who the hell was that? Sean was a true guitar slingin danger man of the highest order. Same thing happened when I first heard Jeff Healy and Srv.
He's the best! Amazing how he plays the guitar. I'm sad to say I never saw him playing. Actually the first time I heard his music, he had already passsed away.....RIP Sean
@Twistchawa It's really not about new licks and old licks; it's about playing from the heart. That never dates, and neither do the notes that are squeezed from blood, no matter how "old."
Dear God. Please send Sean back and take Jonny Lang, Joe Bonamasso and Kenny Wayne Sheherd back with you. A true gem of a human being. I miss him dearly.
I met him as a kid in a bar in sandy springs GA. I offered to buy him a beer after his set and was surprised when he said I am 16, my parents are over there 😂 he had more of a Brian Seltzer vibe then, I was very impressed. God bless em, he was great
I love this performance by Mr. Costello and wish he could've been with us much longer. Can anyone tell me if this was originally a B. B. King song? The vocal as well as the extreme bend in the opening lead passage, along with the (6th) chord just before he starts singing the 1st verse are really suggestive of B. B. King to me.
Yes, John, the original is from Mr. B. B. King (recorded first by him in 1952) ... Sean´s version is splendind:) *Greeting* from Slovakia, Central Eu:) **Best Wishes** 2U:)
its so sad when I talk about my favorite blues players most people say Sean who? I like to discuss blues players and their influence on me or anybody else and I always name Sean as one of my favorites. I was in NYC on business during a few of these gigs and didn't even know he was playing. Fuck!!
I started getting chills from the first note man... I play a Les Paul too... Good vocal too.. Why are they featuring my crap? I love the B3... Lots of feeling... It just makes me feel good. When are you playing in Florida?
Like all great guitarists, he's done his homework. You can hear things from Otis Rush, BB King, Magic Sam (and probably a few more I'm not catching) throughout his playing, but he integrates them seamlessly and makes them his own, something very few players ever do. He's also a great singer: no easy feat for a white guy singing blues. It's sad he's not here anymore.
Holy shit he was a master. At 13 years old he blew my mind with a guitar in middle school. We knew in HS/MS he was special. Such a loss to the world.
He had the same passion for the blues like the late great Mike Bloomfield. Such an energy, feeling, playfulness.... and I love his tone!!
one of the strongest and most beautiful performance I've ever heard by a blues guitar player
I can hardly watch these videos because I get so damn mad that he was taken away. This guy is what the blues is all about in it's purest form.
Dude was fire.
hands down, this was the best blues numbers I have ever heard PERIOD. Thank you Sean, and I hope your afterlife is a peaceful one, you are truly missed here on this earth brother
Couldn't have put it better. No one ever played like this cat - no one got close.
Thank GOD for my local radio station that has a blues show every Sunday night. Due to them I discovered this AMAZING artist. What an truly gifted artist he was.

man this guy was fucking awesome, unique blues style which is hard to do and a KILLER voice to back it up. god damn RIP
crystal clear and the soul from within... check this out kids and sorry to say this, ...eat your heart out Joe..

Mind blowing!!!!! He was the real deal. RIP, Sean.
Talk about makin' love to a guitar. That old Gibson was a screaming....
Thanks Mr. C. for the treasures you left us. RiP Bro.
Wow, this is amazing.
Such fludidity and intensity in his playing. Sounds a lot like Otis Rush and Ronnie Earl.
The world is / was filled with blues musicians, and musicians in general. Some are good, some are great, and some transcend so far above it all that the only conclusion is his/her talent is from God. That was Sean.

EXCELENTE!!! Incendia esa guitarra en el cielo! Sean! !!!!
Utterly brilliant. Great guitar and great vocals, too. And his guitar tone was to die for.
Gänsehaut, immer wieder! ❤️

Just stopping in to dig this performance again..and again...
It's a mystery, of what truly gifted people struggle with! My 23 year old son plays in our cover band and has the "magic touch" like Sean .....but that pesky brain plays tricks on us! we're good we're bad ....love Sean C was a new twist on the Duke Robillard tunes RIP
Such a shame, he was so unique in his style and playing Sean's blues style was so refreshing. It is sorely missed.
old skool killer stuff :)
thankyou!
this guy was a monster-talent, what a loss
He was without doubt a musical genius so sad 😞 he died so young
Lord have mercy! The soul just spills outta the speakers...

He's the best! Amazing how he plays the guitar. I'm sad to say I never saw him playing. Actually the first time I heard his music, he had already passsed away.....RIP Sean

FANTASTIC, GREAT VOICE, GREAT GUITARPLAYER!!!
damn talk about from the soul!!! my favorite guitar player. he was set to be the best
He was a master, set to be a legend, and is now. He could play like that in middle school, I saw it as his classmate MS/HS. A MASTER.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Leaves me absolutely spellbound.

@Twistchawa It's really not about new licks and old licks; it's about playing from the heart. That never dates, and neither do the notes that are squeezed from blood, no matter how "old."

Very well said!!! I agree wholeheartedly..start with Joe Bonamasso please!
Just bring him back. No need to wish death upon others.
I met him as a kid in a bar in sandy springs GA. I offered to buy him a beer after his set and was surprised when he said I am 16, my parents are over there 😂 he had more of a Brian Seltzer vibe then, I was very impressed. God bless em, he was great
Hurts so good!

RIP Sean.

The intro reminds me of Mike Bloomfields If You Love These Blues.
Amazing performance! Great guy he must have been!

Yes , they are.
His playing kind of makes my ears wiggle.
