Amazing ,This guy was amazing. He hit me like a ton of bricks about 9 year ago . Just happened upon him here. It really had an effect on my life . He came along just at the right time. Wife left and all the shit that goes with that. For some reason he really touched me. Reason being he being so friggin good, You told me a lie, was my fav. at the time . Gee, I wonder why. His whole set at the living room was great . Wish I could've been there. Many thanks to whom recorded him. I also think most of his live stuff was better than the studio.
I come back and watch this about twice a year blows me away each time. I saw Sean perform in Hillsboro NC at the small Blue Bayou Club one night he burnt the place down, the next week he was gone. This guy had yet to tap into his potential and reach new fans here and internationally. It's OK he left his mark RIP brother.
As a guitar instructor, I use this song to show my students what true soul is all about. Sean was one of a kind. The way he plays the main riff blows my mind. If there's a rock and roll heaven, just like the song says, you know they've got a hell of a band.
The guy could just throw "what it means" right out there with such joy; really make you feel it. What a poor beautiful fellow - he should've had more time here.
"as good as... John Mayer" --------- No, young Sean was a world above. In a class with Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher, for both playing and singing. And to me, it doesn't get any better. Very good post, Thanks
I can't even say in words how much I love/d Sean Costello and such an amazing person and performer. Just a wonderful person in general, humble and nice to everyone.
I got introduced to Sean Costello by a former lover, who happened to be Sean's childhood best friend. It's hard listening to his music but what a fucking talent taken too soon.
You got that right. This man and especially this song absolutely blows my mind to kingdom fucking come. This is so good and well delivered that I can honestly say I have never heard anything like it. I tried to play the main riff and while I can get it sort of close, there is something in it that makes it pretty much impossible to do unless you were Sean Costello. One of the best guitarists I have heard in my 48 years on this earth. Possibly the best because he is 100% unique. Nobody else played like that ever.
I have listened to this song (over and over) and any other recording of this young man and I have to say he was surely one of the most talented singers/songwriters/guitar player of all times. I really love his music, unfortunately few people have had the chance of enjoying it...
Great man, sean was on of the most soulfull blues players of our time. We miss him. My respect for your work and your friendship with this great guitar player, and person.
I heard this before I saw it and almost jumped out of my chair, "Where is THIS version? Robert's on fire!" Great tribute to a great artist, and fantastic cover.
@@BeauregardHall She was unable to raise money needed. I'm in the process of writing a book, but it's really hard to tell the story of Sean. So much of his life was on the road and in his head (then translated to his guitar). I wish they would do a movie. There is a lot to say about music, healthcare, blues...
that's a different goldtop, isn't it? his usual one had a wraparound bridge and looked very old (and valuable). wonder where these guitars are now and how many he used to have. they were in the right hands for sure
This one is a Gibson R6 reissue, I guess so he didn't always need to bring such a valuable guitar. I believe he also had a strat, a few teles, and a 335, but who knows
Still listening Sean RIP
Go head brother, the world needs some Of that love today.
What’s amazing is Sean. Beautiful beautiful Sean.
That was so great! What a groove!

I just discovered him last night. He's given me new perspective on music and life. What a talent and so powerful.
Feel you. Discovered him when I was listening to the Robert Ward version
Wish i could have seen him live just once. What a loss to the blues community. He will sorely be missed. Peace and love to ya Sean.
Sean was truly amazing!! Loved watching him play the hell out of that guitar! Miss him terribly.😢
not only is love amazing, but who better to perform this than an amazing soul and blues man? Bravo. RIP Sean.
Perfect
I miss Sean so much! This probably my all time favorite. I was there for this. Northside Tavern.
I saw him several times at Northside Tavern. Super talented!
This guy was just freakishly talented. He really mixed blues with soul to make his own unique sound. Tragic that he left so soon.

This song brings chills to my spine. He was PURE SOUL!
Sean is a true blues man. Whoever put this video together did a great job.
"as good as... John Mayer" --------- No, young Sean was a world above. In a class with Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher, for both playing and singing. And to me, it doesn't get any better. Very good post, Thanks
I think Mayer has joined those ranks quite some time ago ;). But yes Sean is all soul, but he also burned out quickly.
You right
Sean was amazing
Truly fantastic. Sean was a rare talent.
I can't even say in words how much I love/d Sean Costello and such an amazing person and performer. Just a wonderful person in general, humble and nice to everyone.

This raw talent. Sweet soulful guitar and smokey vocals.

That's a heavy duty comment...and, accurate. Very special talent!!!
Truly awesome! Reminds me that I need to take a road trip to see this great young guitarist. Worth it--have seen him 3 times before. Nice video.

Great man, sean was on of the most soulfull blues players of our time. We miss him. My respect for your work and your friendship with this great guitar player, and person.
Sean was one of the few artists that sounded better live than in the studio.
SGspecial84 very true
THE BEST. Thanx for this video.

Sean was the real deal; Mayer is a facsimile. Period.
I heard this before I saw it and almost jumped out of my chair, "Where is THIS version? Robert's on fire!" Great tribute to a great artist, and fantastic cover.

Blues Man: The Life and Times of Sean Costello
Very true. I'm just disappointed that I hadn't heard of him before his death.
What an amazing talent...and this song is so great.
excellent!!!
Still here Sean
his staccato style reminds me of kora players. impressive
Not all his songs are this style, this was uptempo for him..
@kimasutra8 Keep us posted...what a huge talent that is gone from this planet !
amazing
@dressagegal Your comment touched me as I feel exactly the same way. I'm glad there are people like you who understand. Cheers to you!

Nine years later I’m still waiting.

QUE CAPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@riskitforabiskuit join the Sean Inadequates club--we're 7 billion strong and counting.
Tu me manques mon ami
@SimonKentSmith Agreed ! What are they doing these days??
“better than mayer“ .. do we always have to rank musicians? Costello surely was one of the greatest guitarists of his time, and so is Mayer.
I think you, his guitar and I...
who is on bass
Aaron Trubic..He seemed to be Sean's favorite..
@guitarpracticeblog He was easily far better.
Compared to Sean, Mayer is a hack.
Okay look now. They were saying the same same about SRV vs Hendrix and now they’re both respected. Let people be amazing in their path.
Who says a guitar solo in the middle position sucks? I don't think so!!
Wow. What a loss.
He was quite uniqe, his voice, his guitar playin, never will be another one, got the blues thinkin about this.
he got soul, and its super bad
