@@randomreally5782 it's not a better engine performance wise, but an atmo engine revs higher, sounds better, giving a better feeling to the driver, while a turbocharged engine revs lower and sounds worse, but gives more horse power for lower displacement. When you are talking about a fuel efficient car a turbo is a great option, and for a super high end hypercar too, because you NEED forced induction to get to ridiculous amouts of power and torque, and reliable. But for an exotic supercar, a naturally aspirated engine is great because it has that unique high pitch scream, and that personallity a turbocharged engine doesn't have. Just go listen to how a turbo Ferrari 488 sounds, and how the 458 it replaced sounded like. The 488 souds great, but the 458 sounds like an F1 car. Of course the 488 is better, more hp, more torque, and easily usable. But the 458 revs higher, has a higher pitched engine, with a pure soundtrack. Because the engine only is producing the torque, the max torque is at higher revs, providing a better experience, to use the car to full potential you need to make it scream, you don't wait for the turbo(s) to blow, making it a great car for track use. The engineers behing the C8 Z06 said their benchmarks where the the Porshe 911 GT3 and the Ferrari 458, both known for high track performance and their high revving atmospheric engines.

Well, hats off to the new-gen ZO6 and to think there are even more powerful models coming, Corvette proves that switching to a mid-engine for the 8th gen Corvette was the correct thing to do, need proof, just look a the performance of the base pushrod (aka OHV) naturally aspirated V8, quicker than both C7 high-performance models (the ZO6 and ZR1), yes, not top speed, but honestly, you need power for top speed, Corvette show the world what a mid-engine Corvette could do with just a pushrod naturally aspirated V8, now, it going to show what it can do with a DOHC naturally aspirated V8 (for now), the funny thing is, this isn't GM's 1st DOHC V8, people seem to forget how far ahead the Cadillac NorthStar was vs the competition, pricing wise, anything less than a 100k is crazy, but it Corvette / GM and they always underprice their vehicles

The flat plane crank v8 was first made by Cadillac in 1923 and the first successful race engine was the ford cosworth DFV that raced from 1967 to the early 90s. The only thing Ferrari did was put it in a production car before anyone else.

It's not that it's louder, it sounds totally different due to the exhaust pulse timing. Regular C8 could be mistaken for a pickup truck with a louder exhaust...but not a flat plane crank V8

What's it gonna be 30 seconds slower around the nurburgring then the C8Z ? You can get a base C8 with the LT2. Katech has LT1-based 427 builds in their portfolio, it's just a matter of time until they do the same with the LT2.

McLaren 720s 0-60 in 2.8 seconds at a starting price of $299k The C8 Z06 0-60 in 2.6 seconds at a starting price probably less than 100k. The 1/4 time for the Z06 is not yet known. It might not be able to touch the 720s in the 1/4 mile due to weight and less HP but it will still be a low 10 second car. I'd say the Z06 will give those Walmart shoppers the best bang for their $$

I loved my Z06 until Heritage Chevrolet in Owings Mills Maryland destroyed it. They replaced the transmission and managed to damage virtually every panel on the car, the leather, etc. The car crab walked when I got it back!?! I haven't had the car in 3 months. At this point another GM dealership is trying to sort it out at my expense. GM did nothing but direct me back to the dealership and the general manager there denied everything and tried to sell me a used car. I'm just disgusted at this point and this video doesn't improve my feelings about GM. I can't imagine handing over another $130,000 only for one of their dealerships to destroy the vehicle again and leave me with an expensive pile of junk. Best of luck to anyone who will find themselves in a similar position.

McLaren 720s 0-60 in 2.8 seconds at a starting price of $299k
The C8 Z06 0-60 in 2.6 seconds at a starting price probably less than 100k.
The 1/4 time for the Z06 is not yet known. It might not be able to touch the 720s in the 1/4 mile due to weight and less HP but it will still be a low 10 second car.
I'd say the Z06 will give those Walmart shoppers the best bang for their $$

@@supranova730 fair enough. I will agree that the C8 is a beautiful car and performance wise will in fact be better than most exotic cars. I just think it’s funny that body wise it looks so much like a mclaren. That’s where i was going with that.
I loved my Z06 until Heritage Chevrolet in Owings Mills Maryland destroyed it. They replaced the transmission and managed to damage virtually every panel on the car, the leather, etc. The car crab walked when I got it back!?! I haven't had the car in 3 months. At this point another GM dealership is trying to sort it out at my expense. GM did nothing but direct me back to the dealership and the general manager there denied everything and tried to sell me a used car.
I'm just disgusted at this point and this video doesn't improve my feelings about GM.
I can't imagine handing over another $130,000 only for one of their dealerships to destroy the vehicle again and leave me with an expensive pile of junk.
