Everyone always says it was better when they were young and everything is worse now. It's called nostalgia deluding you. You forget about all the unhappy, sad, nervous, anxious, boring times and only see the rose-tinted times of endless summer and fun.

And in 50 years time people will say how good life was in 2020's!
When we were young, we didn't have the same responsibilities as we have as we have when we have families of our own.
We also have very selective memories and also, as individuals we have had completely different lives.
I hated the seventies! The 80's were much better for me. 😊

Penny Perris You’re another idiot who judges a time by your own naive and stupid opinion of it formed as a child. The 70s were a time of disappointment, disillusionment, disaster. Families in several countries were coming to terms with the fact that sons, fathers, brothers would not be coming home from a useless war in southeast Asia. Or if they did survive, they were either mentally or physically scarred for life and 50 yrs later the repercussions were still being felt.
If you live in a country that the Vietnam war did not touch then there are plenty of other things to consider...
Children were being molested, wives were being abused, criminals were being made as the drugs scene took a firmer grip on society further ruining families. Wages were low, politicians were already untrustworthy and HIV was just rearing its ugly head. In 2020 things are terrible but it started a long long time ago.

@@PetroicaRodinogaster264 A pity a RUclips viewer can't relive a chapter in their life by watching a wonderful show like "Quinn Martin's Tales of the Unexpected" and be so moved, share his/her feelings with the rest of the audience -- only to have a mindless being address her/him "idiot."
      .Speaking of audience "Penny Perris" -- although it was two years ago -- has 36 "up" votes. T H I R T Y - S I X. And "Petal Poppy"? 2, as in "two."
Statistically, that's: do the world a favor, crawl into a cave and disappear time. (Ed. - you won't even need to stand up).
Based on your perverted concept, should a senior citizen comment on a RUclips video under one of Charlie Chaplin's or Gloria Swanson's brilliant and funny nineteen teens' (1910s') movies and how it made them feel all warm, nostalgic and fuzzy again, you JUMP DOWN THEIR THROAT and say they're stupid because of the Spanish Influenza and America's involvement in 'the Great War' negates every opportunity for cherished, personal memories of a particular era.
How selfish, stupid, mean, accusatory and idiotic can one be? "Look in the mirror."
A negative, judgemental individual -- which you are the poster girl or poster boy for -- can find fault with ANY time in our nation's history, ANY decade. Most of RUclips would assume your children's happiest day was turning 18 and getting out of the house -- just as fast and as far as they could.
"Penny Perris" after watching this 1977 television episode says she likes the '70s. Would you have been satisfied if she's kept that to herself and hadn't posted? Nah, you'd find someone else to bully.
You went on FAR TOO LONG tying to sound holier than thou, that she doesn't remember the horrors of the Vietnam War like you. Maybe she was a nurse and saved hundreds of lives, stateside or in the zone. Either way it's the 1960s where 90% of the fatalities occurred. HIV and AIDS started in the early 1980s and was a mass killer in that decade and the '90s. NOT the '70s.
The 1970s big problems were societal: school busing, HYPER inflation, the abortion debate. NONE of those should prevent anyone from a nice experience watching a half century old film or TV show and saying it reminded them that back then was a good time to be alive.
. . . If the 1970s were so awful no way would a television network risk developing a show around that era. Well, FOX did with "That '70s Show" and ended up with a monster, Nielsen-ratings hit.
Again, based on your over-the-top negativity, and irrational thought pattern, in 25 years, someone looking at "Modern Family," "NCIS" and "Last Man Standing" on RUclips or wherever shares with the public nice memories, you'd attempt to make them feel an inch tall because of coronavirus -- "don't they know they have NO right to dream of the 2020s, because of how the pandemic killed tens of thousands of our citizens and bankrupted the too many of the survivors.
. . . . Pertaining to your bottom two lines, unfortunately for the victims, spousal abuse, molestation of minors, drug addiction, dishonest, money-grabbing politicians have been a part of every decade of the U.S.A.'s existence, some just not reported on or out in the open so much (like the pedophiles within the Catholic clergy who unmercifully were protected, moved around; their crimes against the wholly innocent swept under the rug) and prosecuted as they should be.
. . . Speaking on behalf of "Penny Perris" and thousands of others in the friendly, non-judgmental RUclips community you should apologize to that individual and remove your NEGATIVE, MEAN, IDIOTIC, NOT-FACT-BASED Comment.

I thought he was going to go through the Bermuda Triangle and back to 1952. Also, the reason he wanted to know how Billy died was to try and save him. When he and if he went back in time he could tell him to not go fishing on that day. It reminds me of the movie The Philadelphia Experiment which was also a super great movie.

Never tire of hearing that pulsing "Quinn Martin's Tales of the Unexpected" theme -- the orchestra's pianist takes the lead with significant percussion. Because QM Productions sold this program to NBC -- meaning it didn't originate on Martin's other longtime venues, ABC and CBS -- the main title music wasn't cluttered -- and music aficionados in the home audience weren't burdened -- with the production company's contracted, familiar male voice announcing each guest star as his / her image from the episode appeared on screen, plus that week's title preceded by announcement of the series' name and " . . . a Quinn Martin Production."
On the pianist's second go-round, at 0:20, prominent support from violins comes in; finally, at 0:35 the sounds of ?muted French horns? and / or ?muted trombones? with ?flutes? join in with bolder violin accompaniment and significant harp action. Fast approaching the finale at the 60-second mark the sounds of violins and piano take it higher and higher and higher. All the while, fantastic percussion present.
1977: However that week's chilling, moody, sometimes frightening "Quinn Martin's Tales of the Unexpected" episode entertained its audience, this unique, potent theme by composer David Shire set the stage. It left no doubt what type possibilities were in store.
I'm not a music scoring expert; these are simply my enthusiastic evaluations because I'm a fan of series' themes and care to know.
