      Loved this series and others like it, they were great then and it's just fabulous to get to revisit them here. Hey, watch who you calling old! I'm 56 this year and I ride horses every day, motorbike on weekends, very active in many sports and skills and I feel like now, right now is the best time of my life. To many younger people I'm ancient at 56 I guess but as far as I'm concerned I'm still fit and healthy and I still turn heads. Admittedly ~ it's generally an older head that turns nowadays tho 😂

    The music to shows like this (and including this was) was fantastic. They really employed professionals. The composers and performers were as good as it gets. It's another example of how much things have gone to shit (in American pop culture) since the '70s.

    • @arthurtrauer5684
      @arthurtrauer5684 5 лет назад +11

      InsertName125 Yes, your right. They orchestrated the theme all the way through the show instead of just a catchy intro and prerecorded generic segments to be used on every show. Very professional and more like a full length feature film. Also costly I’m sure paying an orchestra and composer on union wages in studio. I can sadly understand how that would be one of the first changes to be made for lowering the production budget of weekly programs in general.
      I’m kind of surprised anyone even noticed or bothered to comment on that. You’re showing your age. Take care.

    FANTASTIC !!!! I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS GREAT EPISODE SINCE IT WAS FIRST BROADCAST BACK IN 1977. AT THAT TIME I WAS A COLLEGE SOPHOMORE AND WHILE ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE IN MY DORM WAS OBSESSED WITH "CHARLIES ANGELS" ON ABC-TV ME AND A FEW OTHERS WERE WATCHING "QUINN MARTIN'S TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED" EVERY WEEK ! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE FOR ROY THINNES TO REPRISE HIS ROLE FROM HIS TV SERIES, QUINN MARTIN'S "THE INVADERS" IN THIS ONE, BUT HE HAD ALREADY STARRED IN THE FIRST EPISODE OF "TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED" A FEW WEEKS AGO. "THE NOMADS" IS A GOOD REMAKE OF "THE INVADERS" FIRST EPISODE (BEACH HEAD). THANK YOU Michael Harris FOR POSTING THIS RARE GEM !!!! THANK YOU YOU/TUBE !!!!

    • @scvandy3129
      @scvandy3129 4 года назад

      @Olivia Bordley More like a TV show from 1977. As to the original poster's "how life was back then," the majority of the individuals we see are aliens, or humans altered by the alien beings. So, it's hardly a good gauge of what life was like "last century."

    This is a remake or retread of the pilot episode for The Invaders (1967-68). That series was also made by Quinn Martin. This story is very similar to "Beachhead" in which David Vincent encountered a flying saucer landing and then went on to fight the insidious invaders who looked just like us. They have changed the plot slightly, and the nature of the aliens, but it is quite obvious where this story comes from. Check out The Invaders first episode after watching this and compare them :¬)

    • @Selica76
      @Selica76 7 лет назад

      Yes, this is a remake of "Beachhead", the premiere episode of THE INVADERS. Quinn Martin used elements from his earlier creation to form a good alien invasion story that he could add to his anthology series here. Quinn Martin also produced THE ALIENS ARE COMING, which was a movie that had some similarities to THE INVADERS. The 1960s television series was also continued in a 1990s mini-series that was also entitled THE INVADERS.

      I was a kid in the 80s (born '75).
      The Invaders used to both scare the shit out of me and also drain the life out of me If I ever tried to watch a whole episode.
      I get what Quinn Martin was trying to do, but none of his stuff, with its 60s stylistic flourishes, ever really landed for me, when syndicated in the 1980s. That's what one generation does.

    Posting while I'm watching. I'm waiting with baited breath to see if his wife meets the same fate as his architect partner...
    Anyway, thanks for the upload :D
    I love anything and everything Quinn Martin, but we're limited over here in the UK in terms of what was released on DVD (2 Seasons of SOSF, both seasons of The Invaders, 1st season only of The Fugitive [yeah I know there was all the music etc issues but I'd have lived with that rather than have nothing], 3 seasons of The Untouchables...

    My sci-fi nostalgia thanks you. Also, regular people see bizarre things all the time. I’ve had my share in over sixty years. Life is peculiar and I no longer doubt that just about anything is possible. There’s a definite woo factor of high strangeness. You may wish you would see something very strange, then what do you do with that? It’s more of a problem than you may realize. Hope for a normal boring life, you’ll be better off.

    Awesome. Never seen this before (from UK).
    Instantly recognisable plot points from the Invaders pilot with the fire and checked into the hospital under assumed name, even the sound of the craft at the start is lifted straight from the pilot.
    Don't like shoe horned air force believer though, takes away impact of lone man fighting the impossible odds, just like it did in Season 2 of the Invaders, in Season 2 they had a whole series of episodes to get that to work, tough to do that in 50 mins

Though if you do post it here, I have a utility that will create an FLV from youtube and then I can create a DVD with another utility from there. I pretty much don't care which media type it's in, in the beginning. As long as I can get some output easily watchable. Let me know about the "No Way Out" ep please! Let me know what I can do for you, as well, in exchange. Thx, SRE

    • @scvandy3129

      That might have been at NBC's insistence; all the other QM shows prior had been on ABC and CBS, who seemed to support Quinn Martin Production's main title philosophy. Or, it might have been a creative decision by Mr. Martin and/or his people.
      What is a change, and not a good one, is the guest stars' names accompanied by an image of them in the episode. THAT is missing. There were many guest stars here, not household names, with the possible exception of David Birney. No negativity intended, but I would not be surprised if lots of viewers wondered, "Which of the ladies is Katherine Justice and which of the ladies is Lynn Marta?"
