    Better to use a long handle hose plier and twist left/right while using leverage like you did

    Worked like a charm for me. I did break 2 wires though but it doesn’t matter because I am bought new ones.

    I used a nail clipper to pull out the boot from the manifold after breaking the second wire and it worked eventually

    Im struggling with spark plug Heat shields now and its ridiculous

  • @maximumoutput8535
    @maximumoutput8535 Год назад +1

    I just wiggle back and forth and turn the boot and pull with some pliers by the heat shield. It's a pain, but it can be done just time consuming.

    Gotta be better options out there. I'm trying to avoid breaking plug wires while changing spark plugs

    • @Nelson4207
      @Nelson4207 2 года назад

      Wires don't last longer than the plugs, maybe a little, but that's plying a losing game.
      60-100,000 wires are shot.

      I used a Chanel locks if u bend the metal u can bend back with Screw driver. Don't pull on the cord like this guy is u want to reuse.

      Probably to push back on the boot to keep it in place so they don't rattle on the block.

    Those coil packs are made of plastic that you do not want to break. I would use plyers with the twist and pull method and if I had to pry agaist anything it would be the headers👍

    I tried it this way but it didn't work I ended up just breaking the plug boots. Is there another way to get these things off?

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  2 года назад

      I broke a few as well, but they came off easily! I just made sure I had new wires before doing this.

    I have a 2004 tahoe z71 5.3 and I can't get the wires off. I bought the special plug wire tool also. 80 dollar plugs I can't change. Somone told me I need to break the plugs literally to get the wires off then buy new plug wires. The vehicle has a horrible miss so I figured changing the plugs may help.

      Yeah, when I pulled them from my corvette, a few of them broke. This method still helped me get them off easier.

    You gotbthe right idea but never pull on the wire. Gran the boot. But to save head ache 20 buys a puller made to do it.
