    I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche 5.3L with those nasty spark plug boots with metal shields on them. Lots of suggestions on getting those out. I saw your video and went to HFT to buy the hose pliers. The 3/4" pliers fit the groove in the shield perfectly. A few wiggles while pulling and they were off. Some plugs were difficult to get to and angles were not ideal but the pliers still worked. Great idea.

    I don't see how the penetration oil does anything since it needs to go up inside the boot.

    • @tripplegracing8276
      @tripplegracing8276 Месяц назад

      Its called penetrating oil for a reason, there is a small gap where the cable meets the boot and it will soak through there

    Bro, I have an 04 impala 3.8l that spark plug boots ripped in half and I broke a couple of precision screw drivers. I cannot afford to go buy those pliers, do you think I use some vice grips?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Год назад

      You need to make sure you can get a good grip on the circumference of the boot or you’ll just rip it.

      @Phillips Vision that is why I thinking vice grips or channel locks. I was trying needle nose and just pulled piece after piece. That use if the Itty bitty screw driver was just jamming it along the old spark plug trying to rip off the rest of the boot

    Dealing with those boots with those heat shields on buick v6. The 3 in the back by the firewall there so stuck on they won't pop off the spark plug. So annoyed. 1 wire ripped off the boot. There siezed so much! Barely any room I used wd40 2 diff kinds. Pliers. Needle nose to grab it and pull but not alot of room to work with .

      You can try but WD40 is not a lubricant. It's a solvent. Mostly it's just mineral spirits.
