This is really clever to touch on. I have a lot of recordings on my phone that I always forget to reference back to when i am creating music. I also feel like a fool recording myself (embarrassment?) but understand why it is definitely needed for workflow purposes. I don't want to waste any more time!
My ideas always pop in my head while I'm out having a smoke or walking to get smokes. Outdoors, No distractions, just a destination and my thoughts. Shame is I can never remember them. When I do get ideas I never do anything with em now. Now I'm taking the time to mess around with FL 9 (had it for years). I love the idea of recording the idea, people don't realize how fast great ideas come and how much faster they go. Now my problem is when I get a nice melody or rhythm/lead sort of idea I can never translate the way I want it to sound in my head into FL. I start with the generic piano and do my best to transcribe it. Sometimes just getting the timing and velocity is a pain, biggest thing is I don't have the skill or knowledge to make the sounds I want.
Hey man i got a question for you,,,, when you are creating your own song do you tend to keep the tempo at 120? If not how do you usually find a good tempo 2nd question, How well are you doing promoting yourself? My brother is an advertiser in social media with 15Million followers. We can work some things out if you like
+Jeffrey Odametey na no answer but in all honesty the tempo is what you feel like it should be anyways, not what someone else thinks it should be use the tapping button to tap out your rhythm and start from there
This dude right here is cool as hell man unless there's somebody like impersonating you emailing me I don't know but anyway bro if you are don't say anything just let you know because somebody that you know that the s*** out of me and all kind of names that you and your uncle user or whatever it's very confusing but yeah it's kind of a lot of stuff dude I don't know if it's you I'm so blessed if it's you
Awesome video! One question though: What are the best ways to get good musical ideas? I usually have none when I open my DAW and just go through preset sounds and play around with what I like on my MIDI keyboard and build from there. Lately, this method hasn't been working though because I end up trashing it because they seem uninspired and boring. Edit: One more question! Could you make a video on how to use white noise and create cool effects with it? I heard you can use it for cool sounds but I cannot seem to find much online on that. Thanks!
Preset sounds I tend to find I'm never satisfied with because they were made from someone else that probably had a different purpose for the sound than what type of music I'm trying to make. You need to mess around with one or two plugins and really learn what every knob does and how you can apply it to get the sound you want to make.
NbaLive4ever okay man I would learn all the skills of the piano and then try to mix and match from different ups and downs that's how you get the best Melodies you're welcome
How do you get Music iideas? During whole year so far that I've been producing music not a single musical idea has popped up in my head. Not a single melody, chord progression, nor drum pattern has popped up in my mind. I'd love to know how I can solve this.
Wow! I thought I was the only one to do this lol. I record in my phone a song idea because i used to forget them by the time i got home to actually make the beat I thought I was silly for doing bets like this but I guess it is a useful technique after all
bom bom bom bom
LOOOOLLLLLLL
MUMBLE MUMBLE BOM BOM BOM BOM MUMBLE MUMBLE!

I think a lot of people in the comments are over thinking this topic. I, on the other hand, really needed this video so thank you.
If you hold ALT you can quick edit a note without changing the grid

I always have to end up playing your videos at 1.25 speed, but you're very informative and I love your content.
make so much sense now, no wonder i couldn't match my song ideas melodies, my idea is not tuned to middle A, thanks
Absolutely love your content man! You are always my go to!
This is actually great advice.
You can hold ALT to disable the snapping in the piano roll and let go of ALT to put it back.

+MusabaN upgrade to fl 12.2.

What microphone would you recommend?
He is teaching multiple compositional techniques all in one as well as how to use FL studio.
I love this song, All Fasho🔥🔥🔥🔥
very true, without humming & recording the idea it's lost forever. great if they made software that automatically converted humming to music
i think native instruments has a thing like that, where it changes your singing or humming into a synth, saw it a long time ago though
the GOAT at what you do
