Thank you for the good review. I'm currently using a 24"144 TN panel. This I think It will be a great upgrade but I am concerned about the black smearing of the VN pannel
@@stefanpretorius5053 If you see the other reviews you will get a better look into that. I had the LG 34GK950F for 14 days, it is so expensive but the picture was great with it's IPS panel, i am going with this (AOC) since the price is just super and can offers almost the same features, and since i am casual gamer i don't need a "pro" monitor.
Today, I picked up mine that I order last week. When I set it up, there was a line of dead pixels and monitor LCD was cracked on the left. I'm not all that impressed with workmanship of the panel. I'm taking it back tomorrow.
I bought the same monitor but its 75hz and 29 inch. It was $70 clearance open box at Office Depot so It was too good to pass up. At first I got dizzy wasnt used to the ultrawide curve. But the Monitors colors is just absolutely amazing and Flight Simulator looks so real now. I love how I can work out of two programs. I will save up and get the 34 144hz tho. Does feel a bit too small at times.
No mention of the EXTREME issues with Adaptive Sync flickering and/or constant black screens? I had to return this monitor because the problems were so bad and every reputable review I've read of the monitor has mentioned the same issue.
@@TheProvokedPrawn I'm not trying to criticize you or anything, but I do think it is a pretty important issue to mention in a review being that the overwhelming majority of gamers buying this monitor are doing so with the intention of using the Adaptive Sync feature which is just plain broken. I saw you mentioned in another comment that you didn't use the Adaptive Sync feature so obviously you couldn't have known, but I think it would be wise to test that feature in future monitor reviews if you're trying to cater your reviews to gamers.
@@lahma69 Just because your monitor was broken doesn't mean every single one is. Mine is fine with Adaptive Sync on - no flickering at all; most of the issues with the flickering are with 10 series cards, so if you have one of those, that's why. You can also use CRU to completely fix the issue if you do have it, by changing the Freesync/Gsync range. He also stated in the comment that he did use it but with an AMD card, which wouldn't experience the same issue.
Hello guys, so i just bought this really cool ultra wide monitor and now i realized that i could like optimize it in it's osd settings, but i don't know what fits better for gaming, which colors and games modes should i use, can someone tell me what do you have in osd settings for gaming? Hi, do u still have the CU34G2X ? There are some very negative comments of black smearing/heavy ghosting which can easily be reproduced by even scrolling on Win10 Dark Mode / Settings menu !!! What's your final decision after 1.5yrs of use ?
busted my LG ultrawide 35inch 1440p panel that was I think 160hrz overclocked? regardless, loved and adored it.. but I dropped a spirit level onto it whilst attaching it to my driving sim rig. *fist bump* My desktop display is an LG Ultrawide 144hrz 1080p panel.. just.. isn't the same! so picked one of these up for the time being whilst I send out my 35inch to be repaired.

Did you experience any blank screens when using freesync with the Nvidia GPU as other has reported? I took a risk in ordering as I've see reports of that. Also, thanks for a quality review !
@@TheProvokedPrawn So you used FreeSync with g-sync compatible?¿ And did the FPS drop below 60 FPS? I read in a test that the black screen appeared with fluctuating fps around 60 FPS.
There are some benefits for sure. Faster refresh rate, HDR, a more compact stand that takes up less room on the desk. It's not bad. It's not a huge upgrade though.
got the monitor. love it. Did an unboxing and review of it on my channel. Your vid is way better. more professional. I was noticing that the screen does not 100% fill to the top, left and right. There is like a quarter inch gap that looks like is actual screen. When i think of borderless i am thinking the screen would fill right up to the physical border. But looking at your screen it looks the same as how mine is. So this is normal then? There is no way to fill the entire screen right up to the plastic outer edge?
@@TheProvokedPrawn Yes, the time lapse. Really agressive for my eyes and really hard to understand how the monitor behaves and looks on the game shown. I wasn't saying in a mean way despite the writing seeming like it. Cheers!
This monitor is solid, even now given Samsung's G7/G9 are suffering from flickering due to the same issues, which some can fix by disabling HDR or waiting it out for a fix (supposedly some firmware will enable full G-sync but nothing guaranteed so far), that being said, for the price, even with the price hike nothing beats this for an all rounder on the cheap. I have no desire to upgrade to anything out there other than the G9 and way later when price comes down a bit and flickering is fixed (of course by that time something better and cheaper will be out there). This monitor got you covered for years to come as long as you win the panel lottery with your unit. If you have a 10 series Nvidia, expect problems, and if so then use CRU, that will pretty much solve it. If you need a guide on how you go about it, here: ruclips.net/video/AaBFWx9fp-U/видео.html it's straight forward. Keep note that only Nvidia setups are having such issues. I tried other Ultra wide's and the quality control was bad, even on LG. If you're on the fence about buying BiNavi cards but want to be sure you got something that won't have downsides if you choose to stick to Nvidia, look no further. 1 year going trough ultra wide monitors to settle with AOC CU34G2X. Even the Acer had problems with the unit I got.. twice. The only one I did not try was the MSI. The only con of this monitor is the lack of nipple. I have spent the money and did the research, now either buy this or wait for the G9/G7 fixes.
But does it feel like a compromise to you? How much would you gain with a 700-800 in terms of day to day use noticible screen quality (for consumers)?
i was reading spec sheets from various sources and apparently the monitor doesn't have speakers at all
It doesn't and I'm glad. Better than crappy tinny speakers
