    THAT is an outstanding ‘69 MOPAR, and extra points for it being a convertible! The whole of the car works so well within itself: Hidden headlights, body-wide taillights, ‘300’ spelled out, dual exhaust, interior features, the rallye wheels. What’s not to like or even love, about this cruiser? Thanks Lou & David for a beautiful showing!

      David's answer about the dual exhaust was a bit confusing. The standard 300 (and New Yorker) engine was a slightly milder 440 with single exhaust... the TNT was the performance option and included the duals. The same engine under different names, as David said, was standard in Mopar intermediate muscle cars, the Plymouth GTX and Dodge R/Ts, rated at 375 HP SAE gross. A 300 convertible with the TNT and factory air... REALLY rare, and this one is super clean and complete. Kudos to David... great find and beautifully detailed!

    • @billyjoejimbob56
      @billyjoejimbob56 3 года назад +1

      @@johnstromsky7223 If the details really matter to you, check the VIN to see if you really have a factory TNT. Could be a base 440 with duals added later and the TNT air cleaner from a boneyard car. Or, don't sweat it, just enjoy a rare old mopar!

    It's always interesting to see how people optioned their cars when they ordered them...
    For example, it looks like whoever bought this one new, checked damn near every box on the order form... Except for a clock!
    Otherwise, it looks like it's got everything else you could get... Six way driver's seat, A/C, power you name it, AND even the trunk lid pulldown.
    They either forgot to check the box for "clock", or just didn't care what time it was to begin with!

    My absolute favorite Chrysler is the 69 and 70 300 convertibles. The paint code on that should've been EW1. The TNT engine should read E86 on the fender tag, also called the U code mill. With that option, you got the 3.23 rear gear set, HD high upshift 727, HD suspension with bigger frt anti sway bar, and bigger alt and battery. Std T code 440 cars did not come with those parts as std. That steering wheel is borrowed from the C body line as std. There was also a wood grain wheel, and a GM sourced tilt/telescope wheel that had a 300 emblem in it, a 2 spoke rim blow horn unit. Console equipped C cars are very rare.

    Wow that is one beautiful unit I'm top 2 bottom very nice restoration. Very cool and refreshing colored automobile I like it very much was very surprised with all the options it didn't have a clock in the dash it was a blank. That's really strange with all the other stuff there was no clock what's the top notch items they were ordered on that car and the basic steering wheel was another item that really shocked me. Just one beautiful unit I love those headlights when they work on electric the lot better than vacuum. Love the style of that 300 in 69 and 70 both. Just one beautiful unit that was love the engine sound too and all the Chrome and the striping on the sides. White Interiors a tough one in the with the top down but it sure is cool in the hot days. @@loucostabile Hello Lou, thanks for your quick reply. Maybe you could get some feedback from David? The whole interior design looks like it's from the 1970 model if you look at the round buttons on the seats. In 1969 they were square as you can see in the brochure. Very strange... Did the upholster of the previous owner made a misstake? The wheels are alsmost certain from the 1970 model... The exterior and dash is certainly the 1969 model.

    Notice in that brochure in the trunk the order the models are listed--that's the order from highest to lowest. New Yorker was top of the line and then 300 and then Newport. So this was a mid-line model, but their top convertible. It had a very cheap looking instrument panel. The restoration was great. I always thought those 1969 300s looked like a very large Mercedes, especially with the color keyed hubcaps.

    Hi, Lou! This is exactly the kind of car that would appeal to Donald Trump...YUUUUUUUUUUGE! And with the TNT, I think AC/DC would agree it's dynamite! Love the grille with the hidden headlights! And you're right, "THREE HUNDRED" does look cool all spelled out on the fender, but apparently, Lynn Townsend, Chrysler Corporation's CEO at the time, was really in a tizzy about it because doing it in individual letters was expensive (I'm guessing too labor intensive to install them), and he threatened to fire whoever was responsible! He never did find out, but they didn't try that again on the 1970 300!
    Actually, the New Yorker was the top of the line. It was the most luxury-oriented Chrysler, competing with cars like the Buick Electra 225 and Olds 98, whereas the 300 was described as the "sports-bred" series and competed more with the Buick Wildcat.
    This has easily become one of my favorite installments of "My Car Story", and if I had this car I'd be having the time of my life too. (I can hear Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes now!) Kudos to you and David for another wonderful presentation!
