Jesus is real, he inspired the teachings in the bible and he inspired the teachings in the Book of Mormon. He loves everyone and wants to bless all with his love.
If you can get past the barrier the world has stereo-typed towards religion - it's a much happier place. Kudos to Calyann for her perserverance...this was a great, modern day story that I needed today.
You are lovely! Your good heart kept you searching which lead you to a new life, a fresh beginning. Welcome to the true gospel of Jesus Christ. All teachings of HIM are worthy and void, but you’ve found the fullness! I love and appreciate you and your honest search. This touched my heart. We all grow and are enriched by each other’s experiences and testimony. Thank you for sharing.
"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Misery comes when we try to hold to both.
I'm attending Brigham Young University right now and taking an amazing class about how to live a good life. Research has been done in a field called positive psychology by professors who are both religious and not religious, and they find that people who are religious tend to be happier and have more meaning in life than those who are not. Even though I grew up in the Church my faith did not come immediately,, it has been a very slow process to grow and come to know God and Jesus for myself. It is fascinating to me to learn about this, because not only do I feel the joy that has come from being a follower of Christ, but science sees it too. Religion in general is a beautiful thing to me for people of all faiths, but especially the faith I have gotten from Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon has been revolutionary in changing my life. Because I have the Holy Ghost with me and a testimony, I have become sensitive to things about myself and the world around me that I would have never realized without it, and those little things I have learned have added up over time to change my life and make me a much happier person.
Being Hispanic and likely a descendant of those cursed with a "skin of blackness" I've sincerely prayed about those scriptures. And while I was eventually given to understand that these words may mean something very different than we had ever considered...at the time I specifically received the answer of "I have written what I have written" and that it's not my place to question GOD but to be still and believe. I felt such peace after that! I don't know why these challenging phrases were included in the Book of Mormon. But I can testify that if you are willing to act in faith like Callie did and let the seed grow and take root you will experience glorious love and peace that passeth all understanding ♥
I have wondered too. I do think that maybe it was set up as a trial of faith, for the people limited by the restrictions on the priesthood and for people in our day who see it as bad.
I have not experienced this on such a personal level, but I have also struggled with how different people interpret these scriptures in different ways, and I similarly found peace when I decided to focus on faith in God and Christ rather than seeming incongruences.
I have always felt God's love 😘🥰🥰 for all his children, early members of the church traveled to the islands, to teach the gospel . God is our Father in Heaven and, he sets the rules as all parents do! God lets us all know when we fail, and we all do, because we're not perfect! No matter what our skin color is ,he created us all and he loves each of us! And that's something that brings me great joy! At the time the SCRIPTURES we're written life was so very different, from life today and I always take that into account. So many differences, between then and now, including the way they spoke. As a causian, I never ever felt that God didn't love each and every one of US! He sent his beloved son Jesus Christ, to atone for each one of us. I appreciate your perspective on this. 🌿🌺🌿💝
Amen. I've been surprised how often I have had deep, heavy conflict and the answer was "I know... and this is what I'm asking you to do." Even if the situation later changed, seeking our real answers has at least, for me, surprised me that the answer was sometimes, "I hear you. Press on regardless." It gives me hope that some things I may not understand but HF is super aware and knows and He'll work things out in the end if I trust Him.
I remember when I was exploring the Book of Mormon for the first time. I was looking at everything through the eyes of a skeptic, I could see how a non-believer would think about the things they were learning or reading. Then I had a moment where I thought, "What if I looked at everything through the eyes of a believer?" I was curious to see how the experience would change, and boy did it. I started to feel the Holy Ghost stir my heart to love, compassion, forgiveness. The Book of Mormon has power that helped me to overcome my worst weaknesses, things that I had tried previously to conquer with shear will power, and couldn't. I was amazed at how quickly Heavenly Father's power in the Book of Mormon changed my heart, my thoughts, desires, and actions. Wonderful testimony Caly. I had forgotten that I looked at everything from a skeptic's perspective too, and the Spirit guided me to that moment where I had a choice to rather learn as a potential believer instead.
I am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints, and I have had some of the same thoughts about the scriptures she had issues with in the beginning. When I realized that God was not saying black skin was the curse but merely just a sign of those who had removed themselves from his influence, and the curse was to be separated from his spirit, it made more sense to me. What a beautiful testimony and experience! Love this lady! Thankyou for sharing.
How did you come to this conclusion? Was it an impression from the Spirit, or did you do other research? I really like this thought you've shared, and I want to believe it, I just can't seem to shake all my discomfort around this topic of blackness.
@@emmastanford6696 I’m not the author of that particular comment, but I would say you should pray. Pray to know for yourself. Remember that sometimes it takes time to receive our answers. But remember Pres Uchdorf’s words to “doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith.” Hold on to the faith that you already have, as you seek to find answers to questions.
@@emmastanford6696 I would like to add, did you happen to see General Conference last weekend? President Nelson said that God loves every person. He loves ALL races, colors, nationalities & backgrounds. Every person born is God’s child, & He love us ALL. Even if (these are my own words now) you struggle with understanding some things, ask Heavenly Father how He feels about YOU. Ask Him if He loves you. If you sincerely ask, you will receive an unmistakeable answer. Take some time to get in the right frame of mind, maybe listen to some hymns & read a conference talk, think about what you are asking, & say your prayer. Hold on to your answer, & hold on to your faith, as you seek answers to other questions. 💜💜💜
@@emmastanford6696 I have studied this subject for years because I love black people and the fact is that term “skin of blackness” and the like is a Hebrew idiom used many times in the Old Testament (See Job, Jeremiah, Joel, Nahum, and Lamentations 4:1-10 is my favorite). It means dejection or gloom. So it’s use in the BoM is another evidence of the authenticity of the BoM, that it was written by people living in old testament times. Everyone in even the 1800’s knew people don’t change skin color. They would be foolish to write it. But Joseph Smith let it be and wrote what he saw (no punctuation even: the printer added those-, and did the translation in only 65 working days). What is a curse? It’s “separation from God” (absence of His spirit).
It is light and darkness; nothing to do with race. You can feel and see light radiating from people that are trying to follow Jesus, such as Calyann. Haters are shrouded in darkness.
We love Calyann so much! What a powerhouse. "The Book of Mormon is for both member and nonmember. Combined with the Spirit of the Lord, the Book of Mormon is the greatest single tool which God has given us to convert the world." - Ezra Taft Benson
I'm glad Calyann pushed through her doubts. I have some family who is LDS and some who are vehemently anti-Mormon. The family members who are anti-Mormon went through some of the same doubts and concerns that Calyann did, but instead of striving to "finish the book" as she did, they made up their minds. And they have had nothing but animosity toward the church since. I myself have spent half my life outside of the church. But despite what trials of faith I have, I have never gotten to far away. Because, regardless of what I believe, I know a few things. I know the LDS people I have met through out my life are good and decent people. I know they would help anyone. I know (at least the ones I know) are not judgemental and would be happy to see literally anyone come to church, no matter their pains, no matter their fears, no matter the holes in their hearts. I respect Calyann for putting in the work. Faith does not come overnight, and for some of us it does not come in a few years. But I think those who "endure" will find what they are looking for.
@@123mneil we are all loving to them despite what they think. I would never play that game. They can think what they want. Whatever things they believe about the church would be laid to rest if they just came to a sacrament meeting. But no, we treat them fairly and with love. I’ve always disliked the way some people claim to be followers of Christ, but then go on to bash someone’s beliefs. That seems very UN-Christlike to me. The same is true of disowning your family members.
I love this SO MUCH!!!! Thank you for showing a non-typical Latter-Day Saint. Being a Latter-Day Saint in Utah is really rough. There seems to be this typical norm that you feel pressure to fit into. I love that her individuality and style shines through and adds to her faith and light.
I was born in Provo in 1974, on a Saturday. Dad was finishing up school at BYU, and I let Mom know (when she attended one of the original Saturday's Warrior productions) that was when I was coming. We lived in Preston, ID, for 4 years, until we moved to the Columbia Basin area of Washington state. I tell you this little bit of my story to say- I hear you. I felt it the most when I tried to go to school in Rexburg. I felt a dilemma in Mormon Corridor culture sometimes- that I was supposed to belong, and yet, I didn't. But yet my baby sis- although she was born in my hometown area, she's been living in the greater SLC area for several years. We're great-grandchildren of Rey L. Pratt. I know this "typical norm", a little bit. Yes, it's a beautiful thing to see someone like Calyann come to the Book of Mormon, who is clearly not of this church culture we know. Someone who doesn't seem to be a "golden investigator", and yet- has a deep desire to know the truth, anyways- because she already has some Gospel truth in her life. Who finds she belongs, no matter the initial doubts or concerns. I would dare say Calyann shows us what our walk with Jesus might be like, that it won't be easy, but that it will be worth it. We can submit our struggles to Christ and walk on with Him.
@@jaklumen I didn’t know it was called “corridor culture” but I definitely knew it existed! In Kansas we had a Sister Missionary from Utah in the 1970’s who said she really enjoyed being in the “mission field” because people were so different than in Utah. We had an interesting group of people that made up the Church in our town but I am certain there was always that cultural influence that kept many members in a negative place. Now I can see these things for what they are and separate the Church from the subcultures that develop amongst the members. It’s really a human nature tendency. The Book of Mormon clearly outlines these problems with the people and their behavior. Another reason to read and study the Book of Mormon. God has been waiting patiently for us to stand up and support the truth that we have been given. Thanks for speaking of your experience!
Perhaps Everyone is needed in the Church . People forget that in Utah are many of the generational stalwarts that held the Church together in difficult times . NO ONE should be excluded for Any reason but when the Church was in its infancy culture was needed to hold people together . It is good to let silly traditions die But good to remember the devoted people who needed them to let the work grow and go forth .
@@helenjohnson7583 Good advice to study Book of Mormon takes on this! I don't know if the term "Mormon Corridor" has been applied to Church culture, but it definitely exists outside of Utah. What parts of the Book of Mormon would you recommend to someone wanting to understand more? I mean, there's the Nephite disease/cycle of pride, that many Bible scholars will already be familiar with as the Israelite cycle of pride. I think Jacob's sermons apply. Certainly Zeniff and the stories of the Almas (father and son) do, too. Perhaps another LDS RUclipsr has a good video to consider, advising us where to look. Food for thought. Thank you too for your thoughtful reply.
@@helenjohnson7583 Ah yes, the great Utah Mormon Cultural Divide and Code of Conduct. It really is a thing. As with your story about the missionary from Utah enjoying being in the "mission field" because the members were so much different from the members in Utah, I used to describe it by sarcastically by saying Well, the Church isnt as true in Washington as it is in Utah but it sure is a lot more enjoyable to live it here. Maybe that just means that we dont judge others as much (us vs them) or maybe some of us really are simply less devout. Still, as you can see from the comments of others, that approach pushes as many people away as it does attract them. I will take a friendly "mission field" Mormon over a "profoundly religious" Utah Mormon like Romney anytime.
What a powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon. I too was a skeptic turned believer after reading it. I joined the church and got baptized and my life has forever changed for the better because of it!
I never post but had to today. I'm humbled and so impacted by her witness. She's a beloved handmaiden of the Lord, called to minister. My soul has been healed by His Light today, through her light. May she be blessed abundantly for it.
On my mission in Finland I met a lady who was hired to read the Book of Mormon to prove it wrong. She also felt the truthfulness it contains and joined the Church. The Book of Mormon is exactly what it claims to be: another testament of Jesus Christ. It contains the fulness of His Gospel and, goes hand in hand with the Bible.
The Book of Mormon IS True, it was saved for us in these last days.... it is powerful. It is Another testament of our Savior Jesus Christ. Read it, study it, pray to our Heavenly Father yourself and ask Him if what you’re reading is true. Be “sincere” and He Will answer. Thank you Calyann for sharing your awesome testimony 😇
HI @Vettle Vouule, thank you for your comment. You ask some very important questions. We know our Heavenly Father knows you, loves you, and hears your prayers. Elder Robert D. Hales shared an encouraging message about learning to recognize answers to prayers back in 1989. His message is still very relevant today, and we encourage you to check it out here: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/1989/10/learning-to-recognize-answers-to-prayer?lang=eng See the link below for additional resources, videos, articles, etc., to help you learn more about prayer: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics/prayer?lang=eng Take care.
I'm a member of the church and i was battling with my faith as well, i had decided to read the whole book of mormon as well and i had the same battle till i read that very chapter, Jesus Christ is real, and the book of mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ.. we cannot deny the Spirit at all it's so beautiful
@@lucypevensie6284 Jesus is the way the truth and the life. Here's the thing, the book of Mormon is basically inspired by Jesus it mentions Jesus as much if not more than the New Testament. You'll never know until you read it for yourself.
...makes me wonder, "am I the type of person that others feel they can and would want to ask about my faith?". 🤔 I could be better. Beautiful story...Alma's my homeboy too. But Ammon's probably my favorite.
@@Horsehead147 yeah, there's a lot of greats. I liked when Ammon told the king's servants...stay here and let me go contend with these clowns (just before he started harvesting some arms. 🤣)
I’ve not had the same success that Clarke had hear. I took notes though and will try to emulate his awesome behavior that encouraged someone else to have interest in his faith.
I am a Christian and an inactive member of the LDS Church, but I love your testimony and feel like I want to start reading the Book of Mormon again now. I might give it another chance, I think. There is so much about the LDS Church that I love...and miss....thanks for sharing your story. I love your hair, by the way! The colour really suits you! Wish I could get away with that, but I'm in my sixties....probably not a good look for me, lol!
Hi Deanne, thank you for tuning in and sharing your comment. We hope you know you are loved and needed, and always welcome at church. We are happy to hear that you plan to begin reading the Book of Mormon again. Visit comeuntochrist.org to find a Church unit or meetinghouse near you, or to request a visit from missionaries, who can also provide you with a copy of the Book of Mormon if you need a new one.
Amen! Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation.. My cousin just came back from serving a mission in Korea. I hope you are well and am sending love your way!
This is wonderful. What an honest person Calyann is! What really got me was the Pink behind Christ at the end. He is for each of us, His character reflects His Love for every individual and He Knows Them. I LOVE SAYING "JESUS IS REAL" and "GOD IS REAL"
I absolutely LOVE this story. "That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard..." Oh boy, how many of us have said that, and then you read the book and your life is never the same again! Thank you for sharing this story.
Isn’t it just the MOST incredible gift we have to share? 🥰 I have a brother and two friends who are taking a closer look at the gospel because of my oh-so imperfect example! (This terrifies me as much as it makes me grateful!) I have to keep reminding myself that I don’t “convert” anyone; I can only bring the Spirit with me wherever I go and hope when others feel it, they’ll desire to have it as well. Sharing that Spirit by offering Christlike love to all those around me is what touches hearts and minds. And those people who feel the Spirit and are drawn to it, fill me again with that Spirit until I could just bubble over with joy! It’s a wonderful circle of love!
Wow what a beautiful story. I have been a member my whole life (44yrs) but have really struggled with my faith over the last 25 years. I am one with wavering faith that you mentioned and one thing I haven’t done in all those 25+ years is sincerely read the Book of Mormon. I never watch these videos but I’m glad I didn’t scroll past this one. Thank you for sharing your story, I’m going to read the BoM and hopefully let the spirit back into my life.
I am LDS and have been slacking lately and can tell it has been effecting my life. My mood, my relationship, my outlook on life and challenges I’m going through. This story has helped reignite my spark to want to get back on track. Thank you for sharing!
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
@@learntime1202 Nephi taught us clearly what we ought to do. He said, “For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do” (2 Nephi 25:23). I believe that the first thing we have to keep in mind in doing “all we can” is to repent of our sins. We will never be able to reach our divine potential if we remain in our sins.
I was once skeptical of Joseph Smith and his experience in the grove. But I had a very similar experience, it was terrifying, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. But I know that what happened to Joseph is true!
Thanks for your conversion to a testimony of Jesus Christ. He loves all of us. His love came in the form of tears through the Holy Ghost. The Book Of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ.
Yes, but so is Heavenly Father. They are one in purpose. They are distinct beings. Heavenly Father is God of our spirits, and Jesus is God of our bodies. He died, physically, so that we can be resurrected with our bodies after we die (at some point).
@@sunflower_stargirl So you belive Jesus is a God, when it clearly contradicts in the first part of John where the word was God and the word dwelt in flesh.
I am a black woman and I have been studying the Book of Mormon with the sister missionaries. It's only been 19 days and I have so much more peace than I have ever allowed myself to feel before. It's like an amazing feeling of hope, faith, and love. I was so mad at God for the longest time. I now know God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit are real. Also knowing that they are with me and that they forgive me. Their love for me is helping me to try and find love for myself. Which is simply amazing. I don't know this still baffles my mind, but like you said Calyann in your testimony you are always wanting to find or know more. I am literally like a sponge trying to soak everything up. I used to study another religion my faith was headstrong until something altered my way of thinking. I can honestly say I have never felt this connected as I did when I was studying the other religion. I feel grateful for my sister in law for introducing me to this new journey I am walking.
I needed this testimony today. The extra boost is doing wonders. I love my God and my Brother, Jesus Christ! I love the Book of Mormon! It teaches love, peace, help, and hope. It shows a tender God willing to move Heaven and Earth to help His children.
I needed this witness of the Book of Mormon today. This video was an answer to my prayers. I want to confirm my testimony of God’s words in the Book of Mormon.
That is an amazing story of conversion. I got in tears. Heavenly Father has done so much to me and my family 👪❤. I know He loves each one of his children unconditionally, and believe in Him and trusting in Him it will take is to the eternal happiness. Elder Russell M. Nelson said: "Let God Prevail". Let God be in encharge of our lives. Thank you for sharing your beautiful and inspiring experiences and testemuny.
What an amazing woman. She genuinely sought truth, humbled herself and became teachable so she could hear God answer her seeking. It's a very powerful experience when that happens.
One of the coolest stories of a person finding the Savior that I have ever heard. She is amazing! And it all started with a person, Clarke, living the gospel. Thank You!
This book saved my life because it invited the Holy Ghost and the Spirit of the Lord invited Jesus, my Savior into my life. I will be forever grateful to the Lord and praise His name forever.
What a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon! Thank you for sharing with such sincerity 💛 The Book of Mormon has been a tremendous blessing in my life as well…I don’t know where I would be without it!
What a powerful and beautify conversion story. Thank you Calyann for your persistency and Carl for being brave to share the Gospel. I am a convert from Kazakhstan and forever grateful to find Gospel through the Book of Mormon. Please continue to share your story and inspire others. I felt uplifted today and reminded.
I watch this over and over and still get inspired each time. Like Clark was saying that it was the power of the Book of Mormon AND in these 'End Times' the Book of Mormon is going to become even MORE powerful where if a person just reads the Introduction they will be fully converted. E.G. 'I just read the Introduction so gimme the Missionaries'! Introduction is actually one of the BEST Missionary tools there is! Says everything in a condensed version!
I had a similar experience while reading the Bible, Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife," I stopped reading because it hurt. I had experienced men treating woman poorly and here was this scripture that seemed to condone it. I immediately knelt down and prayed. The thought came to me, mankind has misunderstood the relationship between men and women. God loves his daughters just as much as he loves His sons. I went back and finished reading the scripture and had even more understanding, "...even as Christ is the head of the church." Christ gave his life for others, he loved and taught and sacrificed for the good of others. This is how men should be to women. This experience helped me realize my worth before God and changed my whole perspective on life.
Thank you for sharing! You would probably like the book Eve and the Choice nadee in Eden (the author is a woman and she quotes many scriptures and Church leaders).
Oh my goodness Calyann! Thank you so much for your beautiful testimony! You are loved and I so appreciate you sharing your story and your beautiful words. You said "no matter who you are, or what you are or what you've done God loves you". Truer words have never been spoken! Sending you love and light!
Calyann, thank you for sharing your journey with us! You reflect God's light and love. I am grateful that through Clarke's example and his faith you were introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thank you for talking about the Savior (2 Nephi 25:26) and bearing your testimony in such a beautiful and powerful way. You (and Clarke) have strengthened me in my desire to bear witness of the Light of the World. The Savior offers comfort, peace, and eternal happiness. Blessings to you and your family. You have inspired me!
Though my family joined the Mormon church when I was just 12 yrs old. Never really have that strong testimony about the church, my parents told it is true, and so I believe it to be true. Not until I was like 22 yrs old, when I finally did read the Book of Mormon, from cover to cover, that gave that conviction of its truthfulness. There's such power in the Book, that you know it's real. Joseph Smith cannot simply made this up. And that's the beginning of my conversion.
I married a brown man. I knew I wasn’t seeing the story in the Book of Mormon correctly. The scriptures aren’t wrong, I knew I didn’t understand. I prayed. The answer was it was just a way to distinguish between the Lamanites & the Nephites. If they had been darker skinned he may of caused the skin to turn lighter or even a different shade people come in. My answer was we decide who we are. Christ was dark skinned. Is he cursed? No. People put man’s ideas and intentions on God. They don’t stand back and ask God his intentions. I love this woman! Thank you for your amazing story! ❤️
Thank you, Calyann! I needed to hear your testimony. I am a convert that just celebrated 24 years. Your testimony lifted me up tonight. God bless you and strengthen you!
Wow, this made ME cry! Glad I came across this and decided to watch it because wasn't going to. Callyan's an amazing woman with a great story and example.
I feel you on that. Sometimes I get these videos and I'm like...nah. But I admit, I saw her pink hair and got curious. I myself used to rock a bright red mohawk to church, so I wanted to see what her story was about. She seems like a cool lady. Clarke seems like a genuinely good guy too. I like that she said something like "you're not drinking, but your having fun!" Too true.
After watching this, my husband and I agree- Calyann is exactly what we needed in our lives. Thank you for your powerful testimony and for that reminder to “pick up a few chapters” every day. As someone in the beauty industry and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I appreciate you, your authenticity, and your love of Christ and the Book of Mormon. Thank you, girl! I appreciate you. Thank you for telling me what I needed to hear and what I need to step up on as well. Much love to Calyann and her family!
I love when, referring to baptism, she said “I can start all over again.” That’s the miracle for all of us, whether at baptism or when repenting. The Savior makes it possible!
She sounds so real and genuine. The Book of Mormon has a life-changing effect for good, without any doubt. I am a person of colour that became a member of the True church some 9 years ago here in Europe by courtsey of two gentle well-mannered missionaries that taught me the gospel. This experience has been by far the best thing that ever happened to me. I am a living witness myself!
This is a wonderful story. If anyone reading these comments is curious about our church, talk to our missionaries. You’ll be surprised to learn that, although they don’t know you, they love you and want to help you to know the Savior.
I grew up in the church but it wasn’t until I finally read the Book of Mormon and brought my doubts and worries not to people, but to my Savior, that He was able to speak peace to my heart and confirm the truth.
I've been studying with the Missionaries since August and starting this week picking up three times a week with my missionaries. One thing I haven t done is read The Book Of Mormon. I did tell my missionaries I will start reading this week The Book Of Mormon. After listening to this I am excited to start reading and learning more now more then ever. Thank you for sharing your testimony with me. God Bless You, your family, and your friends.
The Book of Mormon is powerful. And as a convert, I’m so grateful to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints only thru the Book of Mormon that’s was given to me by a stranger.
Now continue, continue, continue, continue! Go from Grace to Grace. We are not perfect, don’t forget that, you will have bad days and more doubts etc... BUT PUSH THROUGH THEM! Line upon line, precept upon precept! Continue IN Faith and Hope!
D-wade is still my favorite NBA player. Still miss him in the league 🤭. This is another great example of being proactive in your search for truth. Seek and ye shall find! The B.O.M is true and through! Jesus is the Christ and talks to all his people all over the world. Imagine all the other records we haven't received yet from the other continents 🤯 #churchistrue
This was so refreshing to watch! As a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I feel we sometimes forget how much our examples can effect other's lives!! Thank you so much for sharing your experience Calyann! The Book of Mormon has an immeasurable power and you portrayed it so beautifully in your own words!! God does love you and all of his children!
Welcome, and congratulations CalyAnn!! Your story is incredible, God knows of his children whom he loves, and he knows what and when they need. I love it!
This video is like sunshine on a dark day! She is seriously glowing! And her pink hair is 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 and I love her testimony of the Book of Mormon! You go girl!!
I feel her testimony is speaking to me. As I have been on my journey with the church, I have become more in touch with Heavenly Father and I’m sure this will be the year I get my baptism.
God bless you Benjamin. You are loved by Heavenly Father and His Son. You are loved by your brothers and sisters in Christ. Prayers for you as you continue on this journey or faith.
As a black LDS, I too struggle with the curse references in The Book of Mormon. And I believe because of these references, it has given license for ignorant/sheltered /racist members to behave in a manner that is not Christlike( there are raciest people everywhere/ every church- humans are a work of progress in God’s eyes and will always be. We are an enemy to God, remember that scripture? ) It’s hard. And at times I think to myself, how can the book be true when it goes against what God would think/say about his own children. I don’t have an answer to that, but like this beautiful sister, I can’t deny that when I read The Book of Mormon, something happens, I feel something. We will not have all the answers in this life time; but we will in the next life, and it will make sense. Sometimes I think it’s a trail for black people. Are we going to choose to obey despite what we don’t understand. And then I think, why us? And then I think, why not us? We all have different trails on this earth. Look what Jesus went through. Was that fair ??? Of course not, but God allowed it for his own purpose. We just don’t know our purpose yet.
@Hermie Hi, Maybe am just tired after a long day of work. Can you please elaborate. Am having a hard time connecting, asking the Lord for His will, and my comment.
I loved her powerful realization: 'I can either be a skeptic or I can choose to believe.' I think that it is such a great way to put it! There are plenty of arguments for and against the Church, but ultimately the choice is yours. Almost like Heavenly Father intentionally set it up this way in order to see what you'll choose. True test of agency.
Thank you for sharing your testimony about the Book of Mormon. True I myself was also converted because of the Book of Mormon and the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is real and He loves us so much.
I testify that that not only is the gospel true, but it makes sense; When you put the pieces together, they fit. But it is a big picture, so it takes some dedication to see how they all fit. The prophets tell NO lies in the Book of Mormon; they speak truths of god that they have learned. And together anything that seems contrary about their opinions, becomes a map to the perfect truth behind it all. It is a narrow gate, but anyone can choose to go in. And the blessings from following Jesus Christ are eternal.
What a fantastic story. Way to go Sister! I love that you found Jesus and His reality through the Book of Mormon. That's what it's all about. We all could use more of that book in our lives.
❤️❤️❤️ this strengthens my faith and helps me remember how precious The Book of Mormon is to me. The last two times I have read it my faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ has been increased and I have seen miracles in my life because of it. I know God is real and Jesus is the Christ. I’m so thankful for the peace I feel from them daily ❤️
You are a beautiful woman in Christ Calyann. I cried listening to your testimony of our beloved Book of Mormon. You won the prize because you did the hard yards of soul searching, ground breaking spiritual struggle. I rejoice in your membership in The Master's Church. Thankyou for your story. Precious.
You’re a blessing, Calyann. Thank you for reminding us the value of really studying and pondering the Book of Mormon 🤍 And to Clarke, you’re an inspiration. For every member of church, we can share the light of Christ in our faithful actions, everybody can see it ✨
I have also struggled with understanding the curse of "skin of blackness". I am not a person of color, but I wondered. I received personal revelation that God does indeed love and value all people. He is concerned with our inner vessel not our outward appearance. And His meanings and ways are not ours. I knew I had to believe in a loving God who is "no respecter of persons" and be okay with not understanding 100%. Yet, it was not until Calyann shared her story that I felt such appreciation for the faith it requires to really believe this when you are a person of color. I am awed by her faith in Jesus Christ and inspired to be more believing. Thank you, Calyann.
yup. the curse was not skin coloring. the curse was the holy ghost could not reside with them. they got their priesthood power and authorities taken away. they were marked to show this curse but I'm not sure if it was literal skin coloring. Lehi's family came from Jerusalem. they were middle eastern, so, their literal skin coloring was already a rich coppery brown. so I am unsure what the mark was and I don't personally believe their skin was made to be darker. What I do know is "skins" is a term used in both bible and BOM to describe the state of someone's soul. the curse was lack of God's power and, from my understanding, marked with a black soul.
I had the chance to be on and off in the church of Jesus of the Latter-day Saints . I recently got back and I’m fully committed this time. I realized that God was missing In my life. This video is a turning point for me . Thank you for sharing and God bless you.
This book is amazing and true i encourage anyone who hasn't read it to read it god is real all you have to do is trust him believe him praise him have a relationship with him it changed me and my way of thinking i just got baptized last week everything i needed was in that water!!

I’m a Christian but after listening to your story I definitely want to read the Book of Mormon. Your story was completely divine.
The amazing thing about the book is that reading it invites the Holy Ghost. You can feel it.
It's easy to find one, (google how) but if you need help let me know!
Do you know how to get one, or do you need help finding a Book of Mormon to read? I know it will change your life. It has helped me so much!
The Book of Mormon is wonderful. It thoroughly testifies of Jesus Christ.
I totally agree

D-Wade showing up to her baptism. What a cool guy.
I think he even said the prayer.
Of course!
Oh my gosh! I had to go back and look! Sure enough, there he is!
Great comments Benzo.
Wonderful comment! Thank you!

Yes. It is a great tool to gather Israel. ❤
Pitty is not true.
BEAUTIFUL testimony!💜 Thank you for sharing, and God bless you👍🏻❤

@@123mneil we are all loving to them despite what they think. I would never play that game. They can think what they want. Whatever things they believe about the church would be laid to rest if they just came to a sacrament meeting. But no, we treat them fairly and with love. I’ve always disliked the way some people claim to be followers of Christ, but then go on to bash someone’s beliefs. That seems very UN-Christlike to me.

I'm a member of the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS
me too!
What a sweet story and you are darling pregnant momma. You will touch many people too. Welcome to the gospel.
This brought tears! There's room for everyone! Every single person, every culture, every tradition, every family.
Thanks for sharing your experience and testimony, Eric!
I’ve always felt the same way. Which color doesn’t matter - just a tool for identifying the faithful.
What lineage or tribe did He come through that made His skin dark. I'm only curious. Seriously.
Thank you, Calyann! I needed to hear your testimony. I am a convert that just celebrated 24 years. Your testimony lifted me up tonight. God bless you and strengthen you!
That's good😊!
Are you guys mormon?
I love when, referring to baptism, she said “I can start all over again.” That’s the miracle for all of us, whether at baptism or when repenting. The Savior makes it possible!
What a beautiful soul! Her testimony is pure. She so beautiful in and out. Good job Clark! Greetings from Ibiza🏝🤍👍🏼
I never want to lose the pure insight. Jesus is Real. His love is clear in the Book of Mormon.
This is a wonderful story.
If anyone reading these comments is curious about our church, talk to our missionaries. You’ll be surprised to learn that, although they don’t know you, they love you and want to help you to know the Savior.
Yes! Every missionary I have ever met only wants what’s best for you and they are just waiting for people who truly want to know more.
Matt, did you serve a mission in the Trinidad Port of Spain mission?
The Book of Mormon is the best part. It really helps bring you closer to God.
If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them for you!
@@joeyvacker3800 thank you.
Very well said
Yes!
Truth!
Calyann, beautiful person, beautiful story, beautiful testimony, thank you for sharing. The Book Of Mormon brings souls to Christ. 🙏
This is truly amazing; the love of God is so powerful that anyone can be converted into the true Faith.
So glad she was able to share her experience. So relatable, cause I also know Jesus is real
I love it!
The Book of Mormon changed my life. It brought me closer to Jesus Christ and put the desire to follow him in my heart.
this made me cry so much.
@@aprilcook5099 thanks
Thank you, Calyann, for having the courage to share this powerful story with the world. You brought tears to my eyes and joy to my soul.
We are an enemy to God, remember that scripture? )
It’s hard.
Great words!
@Hermie
Hi,
Maybe am just tired after a long day of work. Can you please elaborate. Am having a hard time connecting, asking the Lord for His will, and my comment.
So, so beautiful sister-mine! Welcome to the family, we love you so much already. Thank you for the inspiration and the lovely spirit you bring.
Amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Precious.
Wonderful story Calyann. God had and still has His eye on you. His love shines right through the experience you shared.
Calyann you are absolutely amazing. Thank you. Thank you.
You’re a blessing, Calyann. Thank you for reminding us the value of really studying and pondering the Book of Mormon 🤍
And to Clarke, you’re an inspiration. For every member of church, we can share the light of Christ in our faithful actions, everybody can see it ✨
Wow! Knowledge, peace and a new beginning! That’s exactly like I felt, when I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, many years ago!
WOW, this motivates me to read the Book of Mormon Daily. The spirit really converted lives change and happiness and peace prevailed.
Such an incredible family! And Calyann's testimony is a force to be reckoned with!! I am so grateful for what she shared.
I love Calyann’s story and testimony. It made my day and lifted my spirits. The Book of Mormon is true!
Oh and Dwayne Wade has always been my favorite player so i thought it was awesome of him to go to her baptism.
I love these little gems, they always make me teary eyed, as the spirit burns like fire in my heart! ❤
I had the chance to be on and off in the church of Jesus of the Latter-day Saints .
I recently got back and I’m fully committed this time. I realized that God was missing In my life. This video is a turning point for me . Thank
you for sharing and God bless you.

I could not love this more!! Thank you Clarke and Calyann for sharing this! It made my day!
Beautiful story! The Book or Mormon testifies of Christ. That is just what the world needs now more than ever.
This is one of the most amazing stories I’ve heard in a while. Thank you so much for sharing, and for the sweet spirit and the tears.
Beautiful story, Calyann. I’m so glad you are with us!
I love that my Bishop sent me this lol I totally vibe with her.
This testimony truly spoke to me. I haven't been very active in years, but now I am going to get ready and go to church today.
Hi Laurie, thank you for tuning in and sharing your comment. We hope you know you are loved and needed, and always welcome at church. Visit comeuntochrist.org if you need help to find a Church unit or meetinghouse near you, or to request a visit from missionaries.
You have such a sweet spirit, with an incredible witness of Jesus Christ! Thank you so much!😘
Great hair, great story! I love the God I find in the Book of Mormon. He is peace & joy. He is mercy & love. I am so thankful everyday that I'm His.
